Unloader by Russel Daniel Paul

Unloader lets idle tabs rest while keeping them in your tab bar. Fresh installs automatically unload eligible background tabs after 15 minutes; select a tab again or use Restore in the dashboard to reload its page.

An unloaded tab stays open, but its live page content is discarded. Scripts, timers and media stop running while it is unloaded, allowing the browser to reclaim memory. Returning to it reloads the page from its address. Unloading does not clear cookies or sign you out, but unsaved form input and temporary page state can be lost. Use Keep awake for important work.

Set a global idle timer, per-website timers, manual unloading, or Keep awake rules. Automatic unloading skips active, pinned, audible, editing, media-playing and loading tabs. Use the dashboard or Ctrl+Shift+U to unload a tab manually.

Rules, activity and tab usage stay in your browser profile. No account, analytics or remote collection. Private tabs are excluded. Settings persist across restarts.

Built for desktop Firefox and Zen. Actual memory savings vary. Editing and media protection are best effort.
