Simple Tab Groups by Drive4ik

by watham, a month agoI like the concept of this add-on, although there are many moving parts; But, they are still flawed.
Last time I tried it, it left multiple bookmarks in my bookmarks folders, so this time I didn't enable any of the bookmarking features.
Without bookmarking it appeared to lose my open, organized, and appropriately containerized tabs on a few occasions. I'm ultimately opting to uninstall it again.

As I'm sure many of you know, this extension needs to:
This add-on needs to:
Download files and read and modify the browser’s download history
Monitor extension usage and manage themes
Display notifications to you
Access recently closed tabs
Hide and show browser tabs
Access browser tabs
Store unlimited amount of client-side data
Access your data for all websites
This add-on may also ask to:
Read and modify bookmarks
Theoretically, I find this extension useful but I am concerned about the "Access your data for all websites" requirement. I read through Mozilla's permission request messages for Firefox extensions documentation and it seems like granting this extension these permissions would be a huge risk for the work I do– investigative journalism. It seems like I'll trade organizational benefits for a wider attack surface.
Can anyone speak more about the risks involved with using this extension, the trustworthiness of the developer, and why it needs the "Access your data for all websites" capability?
Thank you. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18705088, 5 days agoI found this to be the most intuitive for tab storage and management. No need to "stash" them or "bookmark" or "manage sessions". Tabs are just saved automatically in a group. You can have hundred of groups with a different name and switch between them with a click.
Assigning icon (emoji) to a group would be great. I know it's possible but not simple. First emoji in the group name should be auto assigned as the icon. - Rated 1 out of 5by nextside, 6 days ago警告⚠ 如果你冻结了所有分组内的标签页,且把本分组内所有剩下的标签页都关闭时,你会丢失全部标签页!
Warning⚠ If you freeze all the tabs in all groups and close all the remaining tabs in current group, you will lose all the tabs! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13198125, 7 days ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Rusty, 8 days agoNot sure at what point this started happening, but I just noticed that every tab I have open is automatically bookmarked in a folder tree (under Simple Tab Groups, with sub folders for each group I have), and closing a tab doesn't delete the bookmark. I unchecked the option "Allow access to bookmarks" and deleted the created bookmarks.
With that being said, I love the add-on and appreciate the QoL improvements it brings to my internet. Can't imagine not having it at this point. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15977491, 10 days ago

Report a small bug. If you duplicate a tab by middle-clicking the reload button in Firefox, a new tab group will be created automatically the next time Firefox starts. - Rated 1 out of 5by carlos, 22 days agoI think there is a flaw in the extension that's why I rate it with one star.
I use a computer with 16Gb ram. Without the extension it is rare that just browsing I reach 20% ram and a few minutes of use I have reached up to 97% ram usage using this extension. outrageous! - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 6210085, 24 days agoI tried to perform a backup on one computer and then restore to another. Tabs were moved all around. Eg. All of my amazon tabs were placed in the Amazon group. Even the Amazon tabs that were in my Main group were moved.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 18044062, a month agoStumbled on a small problem while using this addon with userChrome.css: having multiple groups makes your tab list interspliced with hidden tabs, which makes it impossible to reliably use Next-Sibling Combinators. I understand that this is a very niche problem, but damn it’s annoying.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13031503, a month agoFeels more like "Simple Tab Workspaces" to be honest, but turns out that's just what I needed. It's a powerful and polished extension; there are fully-fledged browsers trying to implement workspaces and still lagging behind STG. That said, it might not have the most intuitive learning curve for some.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Solokom, a month agoNot simple at all and is buggy as hell. I keep losing tabs, the add-on keeps deleting or hiding all tabs when opening groups, or just closes Firefox totally resulting in the loss of all opened tabs. Many desired features are missing. How can this be the top-rated Group add-on is beyond me.
