deleted my bookmarks Rated 1 out of 5 stars
It randomly deletes bookmarks - well over half of them as I type this, and they aren't on the server ... EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!!!
Hi there - if you are seeing bookmarks being deleted before they can sync to the server, then its likely you are running multiple bookmark syncing programs. Please disable all other sync programs and if you continue to see issues, please open a support ticket: https://buy.xmarks.com/support.php

Need Firefox e10s(Electrolysis) support.
multiprocess Firefox (e10s) support Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I have been using it for years without major issues but what about multiprocess Firefox (e10s) support? It is the only remaining add-on (among few I use) not supporting it. Would happily enable e10s support now but can't without working Xmarks. With multiprocess supported it would be 5 stars but without it is can slowly become history.
New review with updates Rated 5 out of 5 stars
See my old review first (permalink: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/reviews/818201/)
The issues I had were related to having syncing turned on while logged into either FF or Chrome. Anyone who is having issues where you get duplicates all over, denesting/nesting errors, and all kinds of weird stuff causing you to have to constantly restore, it's absolutely caused by be logged into the browsers profile and syncing is turned on.
And to Alex E. below, I think when the developers say the issue is caused by running multiple sync tools they mean even the built-in ones. If you login to Chrome or FF you MUST turn off bookmark syncing in the respective browser option settings.
Gets 5 stars now with that in mind. Though I would STRONGLY advise that the Xmarks team make it known that even the syncing which is a builtin part of each browser will break the addon.

Absolutely horrible. Rated 1 out of 5 stars
IN RESPONSE TO THE DEV: My problem was most definitely not caused by multiple bookmark syncing tools running. I attempted using the troubleshooting page prior to making this review and the issue continued for several days after.
I'm giving Xmarks 1 star only because I can't give it zero. It simply fails to do the one thing that native browser syncs can't automatically do, which is keep my bookmarks straight across multiple platforms. Since I have installed it, it has been necessary to go into the app daily to straighten out the mess it causes. Bookmarks get moved, duplicated, and de-nested. At this point, I'm removing Xmarks and I'll just manage them using the import/export tools in my browsers.
The symptoms you have mentioned here relate to running multiple bookmark syncing tools simultaneously. Please see our helpdesk here on troubleshooting your issue - https://helpdesk.xmarks.com/troubleshooting/duplicate-bookmarks-2/. If you continue to see issues, feel free to open a support ticket.
Incompatible With Multiprocess Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Firefox is rolling its new extension APIs and multiprocess. Please port your Chrome version over. Right now I cannot use this addon any more on Firefox with multiprocess enabled.
Freezes your screen, prevents browsing Rated 1 out of 5 stars
It was good once. Now, it constantly runs into syncing problems and freezes, asking you to log in. Problem is, you can't if Xmarks has frozen your screen.
Now, you can no longer contact Xmarks customer support, which immediately sets alarm bells ringing, as they now fob customers off to time consuming `forums'.
Xmarks support has not changed. If you are seeing technical issues, please open a support ticket - https://buy.xmarks.com/supportticket.php?lpnorefresh=1. This link is available on our support pages.
Useful tool Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Make sure you test it out while changing bookarks (sync it to see), just to get familiar with it. Has been a lifesaver. Needs much better documentation (ie. as a *.pdf).
Agree With Squeeky Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I am a premium user of both Xmarks and LastPass. I have used Xmarks since it was Foxmarks with varying degrees of success. As mentioned numerous times, for the past couple of years, XM causes intermittent hangs and periodically makes a mess of syncing. For example, last Friday's "sync" increased my bookmarks from 1,254 to more than 5,000 by endlessly duplicating unsorted bookmarks while deleting commonly used bookmarks. There may be either rhyme or reason to its insanity, but I don't have time to figure it out. I will be dropping Xmarks at renewal. Avoid the program until they (finally) have the bugs worked out. And - Xmarks people - if you can't "duplicate this error," you really aren't trying very hard...
Hi there - if you are seeing duplicate issues, this is due to you using multiple bookmark managing programs and they are automatically syncing. Please see the FAQ here - https://buy.xmarks.com/support.php?cmd=showfaq&id=2833.
Never once had a problem with this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars
For various reasons people seem awfully unhappy with this add ons performance.I've not had any of these happen to me even once. And I cannot recall how many years I've used this.As far as "freezing" goes this will not cause it.Check your Firefox settings. You may in fact have far to many add ons activated.Only have the ones on that you will need at the moment. If that does not work go to the support site. This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Makes FF intermittently unresponsive Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I first used Foxmarks, and then Xmarks. The archived bookmarks have saved me more than once, and the syncing among several machines has been very useful.
OTOH, I have noticed for several years that FF would intermittently become unresponsive, though it would ultimately clear, before happening again perhaps 15 minutes later. My systems have fast processors, so I assumed that it was either a coding issue with FF, or that my prefs.js was "too long on the tooth" (and corrupt) after so many years and so many upgrades, or that it was a problem with one or more of my 48 extensions.
This week, I built a new system and the problem repeated (I imported my FF configuration from my main system). So, today, I spent the time to clean up my prefs.js file, and then took out my extensions one-by-one ALPHABETICALLY until I found the culprit. It is Xmarks 4.3.19. After disabling it, FF is flawless and smooth, the way it should be.
How to reproduce: Start FF, and open 10 or so web pages at one time, each in a separate tab. After 3 minutes or so, reload all of the tabs (this step probably isn't necessary). Now open Task Manager (so you can watch the FF CPU usage), and wait. First, the FF usage will drop to almost 0; then it will build, before dropping slightly again, and finally it will build and hold (in my case ~38%; Win7 with an i7-920 CPU, and Win10 with a i5-3320M CPU), and FF will become completely non-responding. This will take less than 5 minutes. If you wait, it will clear in a minute or so, though it will periodically freeze on a regular basis.
As much as I love Xmarks, I am absolutely thrilled to be rid of the problem. I could have given XMarks 5 stars for many reasons, but since it chokes my system and my user experience, I give it 1 (0, my preference, not being an option).
Useful only once and Irritating Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Tool is useful only for one initial sync and nothing else. It creates a bunch of duplicates during regular work. Avoid using it for continuous syncing at all costs. It is like this for years. None of the so called "tips n tricks" will make issues solved. I wasted a bunch of my life (daily )on manually restoring Bookmarks Sets and garbage cleanup, and reading manuals and resting settings.
useful if you format your PC Rated 5 out of 5 stars
everytime I format my PC, I use it to restore all the bookmarks and history. Also it syncs between my PC-home and PC-Word
It Does What Now? Rated 1 out of 5 stars
It does not sync.
Installed it on Chrome and Firefox. It could not sync with either one. It would not accept the password on Firefox (fine on Chrome). I reset my password (to the same password) and it worked on Firefox. Then it kept freezing up Chrome. Uninstalled it on both.
I cannot recommend this extension.
We're sorry to hear of the trouble! We have not been able to reproduce the issues in-house. Could you kindly open a ticket with us and provide the debug log on Chrome: https://helpdesk.xmarks.com/troubleshooting/sending-us-your-log-file/ so we can assist you further? Thanks!
