Warum wurde "Thunderbird Conversations" geschaffen?
Some time in 2007, I quit using Thunderbird 2 because GMail's UI was lightyears ahead of that of Thunderbird 2. However, I grew dissatisfied with GMail over the time : slower than a Desktop-based email client, web-based which means that it does not integrate into the system very well... Plus I was checking out other email accounts with GMail because I wanted all of my emails in the same place, and I didn't like it very much.
I wanted to "reclaim my inbox" but some features just kept me back from switching back to Thunderbird. So one day I decided to implement all the features I missed as add-ons. There's already "Manually sort folders" which I think fills a big hole. I hope this one will improve everyone's experience. I have some other prototypes in the works... stay tuned!
Was kommt als nächstes für Thunderbird Conversations
I will make sure this add-on keeps working with the latest version of Thunderbird.
The add-on still needs to be improved. In particular, quoted parts are sometimes not properly detected. I need to add more visualization options, more customizations. I also need to improve performance and reactivity. There's also a ton of small details that you usually don't notice but that really give a better user experience when present. Small features like that really take a lot of time to implement, because it requires poking in many different areas of Thunderbird.
Ideally, I will try to backport as many features as I can to mainstream Thunderbird so that at least some part of this add-on can be integrated in standard Thunderbird 3.

I maintain a couple of extensions to Thunderbird. Do not hesitate to contact me by email for ideas, bug reports, features, suggestions, patches, etc.

In real life, I'm a computer science student in Paris. I develop add-ons as a leisure, on my spare time. I also wrote a book on XUL in a previous life but due to studies I haven't been able to develop add-ons until recently, which is why I just started to get involved again with Mozilla.

Oh and by the way, I'm French :).
