No, it DOESN'T work...at least not as advertised: It will not download videos...even on 38.0.1.

Flashblock

"Hacked" version is just a compatibility update Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

FOR ANYONE NEEDING UPDATE FOR FF 34:

Just to clarify: the "hacked" version is simply an update that makes Flashblock compatible again. The dev could literally just upload that, and have it be the new working version of Flashblock. (See below for an explanation of why).

If you're worried about the security (I was), details are below:

The reason Flashblock stopped working with FF in ver 34 is because of this...
(notice the dev actually says "This has the potential to break addons (like flashblock), though the fix required is minimal.":

https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2014/11/13/compatibility-for-firefox-34/

So all this patch/update does is add in that necessary attribute to make it compatible with the new FF. If you want to confirm this for yourself, all you need to do is check the differences between the latest Flashblock (1.5.17) and the patch/update (1.5.17.1).

You can do this by downloading each, and then extracting the contents of the xpi files (just change the "xpi" to "zip" and extract. Then you'll need to do the same thing with the "flashblock.jar" file (change "jar" to "zip" and extract.)

Then compare the contents of the main folders using a program like FreeFileSync. You'll find the only files that are different are "install.rdf", "version.dtd", "flashblock.xml", and "videoblock.xml".

Finally, you can compare each of those files for differences within them by using a service like DiffNow: http://www.diffnow.com/

You'll see the only changes made are to add the necessary --bindToUntrustedContent="true"-- attribute in all the necessary places, and to update the version number.

Thank you so much Tom for doing this for us.

No longer works Bewertet mit 2 von 5 Sternen

It was an okay add-on when it worked. I could almost never get a result from the google cache or the bing cache, but at least it popped up the Internet Archive page which saved me from having to navigate there myself.

Now only the Google cache tab pops up, and of course still doesn't return results.

DownThemAll! AntiContainer

Yes it does work fine. Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

It totally works. You just need to go into the settings (aka DownloadThemAll! Preferences) and under the Filters tab, tick the checkbox for "Pictures and Embedded Filter".

Once that is engaged, you'll see a new filter option in the DownloadThemAll window for "AntiContainer". That's where this addon will do it's work. Just make sure that filter is checked, and it'll work as advertised.

Thanks so much to the developers for this great addon.

Video DownloadHelper

Does work...MOSTLY Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

Yes, of course the addon still works for most videos on most sites. It's not like it just stopped altogther...

What people are complaining about is legitimate. CERTAIN videos will not download (for example, those on Vevo channels). This has been a problem in the past. YouTube has been constantly changing code to make popular music and mainstream content more difficult to download.

What everyone is complaining about is that they changed something again, and now VDH doesn't work for those videos (again), and the addon hasn't yet been updated to overcome this change.

Go back through the support/bug reports and you'll see this has happened numerous times.

Causes the "Redirect Notice" in Google Image Search + How do we know it's working properly? Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

It took a while to troubleshoot this, but I discovered this addon is one thing that can cause the infamous "Redirect Notice" that pops up every time you click to view a result from Google Image Search.

I just thought people might be interested to know one possible reason they might be experiencing that.

Also, how exactly do we know the addon is working? Is there some easy way to confirm how the requests are being routed?

UnPlug

re: not working Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

No, it seems something did change. I keep getting phantom downloads. A "0 bytes" download shows up in the downloads manager, and no file shows up in the designated download location.

I've experienced this issue before, and it stopped happening after a few days. I'm not sure what causes it. Can anyone else confirm?

Web Mirror Viewer

Previous title Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

For anyone interested, this add-on used to be called "Cache view".

It's a convenient little tool. I downloaded it some time ago, before the name change, thinking it sounded neat, but quickly forgot about it and never really used it. When I noticed the update I looked back into it and still didn't think I'd use it too often, and while I might be right, I did end up downloading the update and already used it twice today. I guess you don't really notice how many dead links you come across until you can actually do something about it.

Replacement FOUND! Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

I've been looking for an update to this that works for ff3.6 for so long...and I finally found it.

Show Parent Folder. It is up to date, works great and compatible with FF 3.5-3.7
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7372/

A nice complement to this is Go To Parent Folder.

I'm with all these other reviewers. This was one of the most useful addons I ever downloaded.

I even kept my Firefox 2.x installed in large part just for this addon.

Someone PLEASE update it for 3.6 compatibility or create a new tool that performs the same functions.

No longer works with YouTube Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

It looks like YouTube changed the page coding...

Unplug worked great there until a day or two ago...Now it doesn't find anything.

Time for an update?
