This has been, is, and always will my favorite Fx theme. My sincere thanks to the dev for what was certainly a Herculean task in getting it to work with the interface whose name we do not mention. :-0
Contrary to what the previous reviewer reported, v. 5.7.0 has not caused any problems whatsoever for me on the ESP 24.6.0esrpre Nightly (Yes, I know 24.6.0 has been released), which I've been using for about five months. It works without a hitch two of my Win 7x64 machines and on three older XP machines.
In fact the only problem I had was with v. 33 Nightly - with the hated Aus .... interface.
The problem was that "Tools-Options" opens in a tab rather than a pop-up window, and this part of the interface was broken.
I saw the nice vertical row of red cats along the left, but nothing could be clicked. The only way to use Options was to temporarily disable Red Cats.
Fortunately, one of the kind contributors to the Fx Forums told me to me to change the pref "browser.preferences.inContent" to false. This was the solution!
Now everything's fine.
I don't know how many years I've been using this wonderful theme, but I know it makes me happy every single day. My most profound thanks to the developer.
Today the update to v 5.6.3 came out, and as always, it works perfectly - up to Fx 27.
Now, though, there are problems on the horizon.
As I guess many users here know, the Mozilla devs have decided to perpetrate a crime against humanity called "Australis", which will turn the beauty of Firefox into a less-than-perfect Chrome clone. This means, basically, the complete
destruction of the familiar interface. And as far as I know, third-party themes will be, essentially, eliminated from the equation if they're not updated.
A glimmer of hope exists in the form of the add-on called "Classic Theme Restorer" https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
However, I have no idea if it will "restore things to normal" vis-a-vis third party themes.
Australis is now in Aurora, but I haven't had the courage to fool around with it.
I'm hoping that the future of Red Cats Green/Blue Flavors remains bright and thank the developer for this wonderful piece of work.
If the dev really has nothing to do, how about a setting to change the color of the "Downloads" and Clear" buttons?
Thanks for the great work!
The Options window is now truly "professional", and all of the functions I've set for my personal configuration work as selected.
Thank you very much for a top-quality extension and a crucial addition to Firefox.
In my opinion, it's light years ahead of what the Moz devs have come up with in both concept and implementation.
This extension now permits addressing the Options from the AOM. Fantastic!
Thank you for the amazing and effective amount of work you've done over the last couple of days.
This just keeps getting better and better!
I've just updated to the new version (on Win XP), and everything works as it says on my machine.
The only thing that's missing for me is that clearing the extension downloads doesn't clear the native Fx download panel, but I guess this might not be technically possible.
In closing, I have to confess that I'm not a "big-league" download person; those who are might need some additional functionality.
I've now downloaded 1.6.19 and am using it with Holly (Fx 29) on both 32-bit WinXP and 64-bit Win 7. In both cases I'm using the Red Cats Green Flavor theme.
All in all I'm VERY happy with the extension so far. It basically does everything I want in a way I find aesthetically pleasing.
The options panel is good, though it could be a bit smaller.
Setting up the automatic antivirus scan is super, and it works with Norton Internet Security 2014 perfectly.
I have a big monitor (actually three), so the extra bar above Status-4-Evar doesn't bother me at all.
I have three suggestions, but I'm not sure if they're technically possible.
1. It would be great if canceling and clearing the downloads in the extension would also clear them from the Fx library panel, too.
2. An Option to "Open the 'Save to' directory automatically after the download is completed" would be much appreciated.
3. An Option to "Close Bar automatically after Download is completed" would also be very helpful.
Again, my sincere thanks for this EXTREMELY useful extension.
I'm having the same problem as the last reviewer. I'm using the latest FlashBlock with the latest Flash beta (12), and Firefox Holly - the Nightly without Australis. It occurs on both my Win 7 64-bit machine and my Win XP machine.
I don't play computer games, so I'm not very quick on the trigger. Having said this, I can hit the arrow to start the movie during the split-second it's visible almost every time.
It'd be nice to have this fixed, though.
I'm using the latest version: 0.97.4c. The one-click changes are really good. Thank you.
I'd like to request that instead of "Screengrab!" in the toolbar, which I have set to "Text only" (no icons), you offer an icon (no text alternative) for the Status Bar.
Finally, there are still problems with Firefox 3.6. I've made a little webpage with a movie to show this in detail.http://edu-net.net/media/screengrab/index.htm
Thanks for your ongoing good work Oleksandr. Screengrab (fix version) is a very big help.
Best regards from Berlin,
P.S. My Firefox version is 3.6.29pre (Namoroka)
I have the latest version (0.97.3c-2) installed on Firefox 3.6 in WinXP 32 bit and on the Firefox Nightly (v. 22.0a1 64-bit) on 64-bit Win 7.
On Firefox 3.6, it's not possible to save in .jpg format and in neither version is it possible to save a screen that includes Firefox internal windows, e.g. the addons, bookmarks, etc., which can be done easily with the normal "PrintScreen" command. The problem with PrintScreen is that it can't save the whole page.
In any case, this is still my favorite screenshot addon.
My thanks to the developer.
P.S. And my further thanks to the developer for his prompt, friendly reply to my review.
I've used this great add-on with no problem for years, but some recent changes to the Nightly (v.21 beginning about 10 Feb) have apparently broken something.
When the mouse is at the very left border of the monitor, it works as expected. When it's to the right of the site's main text, it works sometimes.
However, on sites including EBay.de, Spiegel.de, the BBC, and many others, when the mouse is in the middle of the monitor or anywhere over the main text section of the site, there is no vertical scrolling at all.
I'm using an identical Logitech mouse with the same driver on another computer using Aurora, and here everything is fine.
In general the add-on does what it says and is relatively easy to use.
The instructions say "Please do not post bug reports in reviews", but - sorry - I don't want to have to become a members of yet another forum to post this, so here goes.
In the version 4.1.1. unlike previous ones, every time I start my computer and Firefox, the FoxyProxy icon is in the status bar.
It's not a giant issue to get rid of it, but it's definitely one of those minor pains.
If it can be fixed, I'd sincerely appreciate it.
Again, sorry for violating the "rules". Thanks for your understanding.
P.S. By the way, I'm still using FX 3.6.29 - which I know is EOL - but I have a special reason for doing so. Thanks again.
In case he hasn't yet done so, the developer might want to take a look at this thread in the forum.
Currently, all the screenshot extensions are apparently broken in the Firefox Nightly.
The dev is right; the one-star rating was unfair. I've only raised it to three, though, because even before the above-mentioned problem, I as other users, on several occasions had had problems with the error "the image is too large to be saved."
hallo aus Berlin und vielen herlichen Dank für Ihre Antwort.
As I said in my earlier review, the only reason I updated from 2.0.2 to 2.0.3 in my older Firefox (3.6) was that the add-on says it's compatible. And as I've also said, this is true, sort of.
The spell check function apparently works; the AOM component obviously doesn't since there's no "Dictionaries" tab in 3.6.
As for the other part of my question, I'd still like to know, bitte: Is there any difference between 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 in terms of what's actually in the dictionary, or does the update merely reflect the new programming / AOM concept? Danke.
As for updating to a newer version, I still like the look and feel of 3.6 better than those of 18 and 19, both of which I have on other computers.
I know I'll have to update one of these days, but as Aragon said before the gates of Mordor, "It is not this day."
P.S. In regard to the review from "chruschow", 2.0.2 worked perfectly on my 64-bit version of the Nightly using, of course, 64-bit Win 7. The update to 2.0.3 on that machine also worked perfectly. I'm not sure what the problem with chruschow's installation is.
Having said this, I might add that my profile for the Win7 machine was a re-worked copy of the one from my 32-bit Win XP machine, on which 2.0.2 was already functioning properly, i.e. I never actually tried to install 2.0.2 on 64-bit Win 7 or the FF 64-bit Nightly.
Thanks very much. Since the old version stopped working, I've been using Easy YouTube Video Downloader, but it doesn't have the 3GP option. Your work is greatly appreciated.
Please excuse me; I had given this a 1-star rating by mistake and corrected it, but the "statistics" window apparently hasn't noticed that I've edited my "stars" rating.
Since the first week in June, this extension has made it impossible to use YouTube. This is s surprise because I've been using it successfully for months.
I'm 100% sure it's this extension because as soon as I disable it, YouTube works fine again.
Somehow I suspect that the problem has something to do with the fact that I'm also using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, but I can't prove it.
Anyway, its a shame because this extension was working so well. It seems other people aren't having this problem, so I'm giving it three stars.
Works fine for both FF and TB. Thanks.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (1.0.5) abgegeben.
I've had no problems with anything so far. It adds great functionality for people doing research. Tabs in each "split" would be a nice addition, but it seems to work fine as it is.
I guess the biggest problem is for the user to get accustomed to it.
Too bad I can only give 5 stars.
Now if we could just get one for TBird. Actually, the author has told me that TBird themes are a lot more complicated, but there's a Nobel Prize waiting for this one ;-)
Anyway, I absolutely adore Red Cats, Green Flavor. It makes my life a happy place to be.
