Extension List Dumper

There was a fix posted on Mozillazine to make ELD work on FF30+ Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

Extension List Dumper stopped working as of FF 30 or so. A fix requiring a change to one line of a JS file in the XPI was posted on Mozillazine. See http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=2831621

Extension List Dumper

Broken in current Nightly releases Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternen

Extension List Dumper stopped working a couple of Nightly releases ago. When you invoke it, the List window appears, but has no content.

If you run Nightly, this is not for you.

Classic Theme Restorer (Customize UI)

An essential addon if you use many other addons or prefer the old interface Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

I'm running Australis Nightly. I don't mind most of the UI changes. Some, like tabs in the title bar I was already getting through custom CSS. But Australis removes the Addon Bar, and defaults to a Chrome like interface where addon icons all appear in the nav bar. I have too many for that to be feasible, and put most on the Addon bar.CTR brings back the Addon bar, and lets me use my preferred arrangement. It also lets me customize the rest of the Australis theme. (I added back the app button as a convenience. I'm fine with the rest.) Getting it all to work took a bit of doing, and I wound up creating a fresh profile and starting from scratch, but the results have been worth it. The extra work wasn't CTR's fault - I have a complex environment and things were stepping on each others toes. This is not the first time I've started fresh to get around such issues. There's a Mozillazine forum thread devote to CTR, and Aris is quite responsive to but reports and suggestions. If you just want the Addon bar back, or if you want to completely redo Australis to make it look and act like earlier releases, you want CTR.

Bluhell Firewall

Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

I'm playing with Bluhell on Firefox Australis Nightly. I'm not fanatic about blocking ads, and mostly just want to clean up ad heavy web sites. In limited tests, Bluhell has been effective and is lighter weight than the alternatives. One quirk, though: Australis just crashed, and a crash report was submitted. Mozilla.org sent an email acknowledging the report. Clicking on a link in the email caused Bluhell to spawn a page that looks like the standard Firefox blocked page screen stating it had been blocked for potential security vulnerabilities. Mozilla.org? Really?

I think Bluhell's really needs a whitelist with sites like Mozilla already on it.

MemChaser

"Known issues: Dark Personas or Themes cause an unreadable text in the add-on bar."

Just for the record, I have the same problem with the standard theme. I just see a large blank space in the add-on bar where the extension display should be. (Current Firefox Aurora on Windows, but I recall having the same problem on the release version. What FF versions is this known to display correctly in?)

It is nice to be able to trigger CC and GC on demand.

For a future rev, it would be nice to replace the display block with an icon, that would show the display block in a tooltip if moused over. Have enough addons, and you begrudge the space taken in the bar

Barlesque

Fixing a Barlesque annoyance Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

@Rui: There's a fix for the "doesn't stay collapsed" issue you complain about.

Download a local copy of the XPI and open it up. Edit the file Chrome/Content/overlay.js. Comment out or delete lines 566-570. Barlesque is not staying collapsed because it's responding to notifications, and the code that makes it do that is that block of lines.

Save the file back into the XPI, then install from the local copy.

It's All Text!

v1.61 update breaks It's All Text here Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

Unfortunately, the 1.61 update broke It's All Text here. Trying to use it produces an error from my defined editor (Florian Balmer's Notepad2) that it can't find the file it's supposed to edit, when the file exists in the profile itsalltext directory where it is supposed to be. I run FF 7 beta, Aurora, and Nightly under WinXP using a common profile, and saw the issue in all three.

Reverting to v1.60 fixed the problem.

Multiple Addon Deactivator

Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

This is a good start on a solution to a pressing problem. I have a *lot* of extensions, but I don't want to use all of them, all the time. For instance, I use the wonderful Firebug web development debugger tool. Firebug has a number of extensions designed to be used with it. I either want all of them, or none.

Right now I have different profiles customized for different purposes, and the differences are just which set of extensions are loaded.

I would *really* love the ability in a future release to classify extensions into groups, give the groups names, and enable or disable the entire group by name. This would potentially let me consolidate multiple profiles into one, by simply checking what group(s) I wanted active and restarting FF if I needed to change activities.

Extension List Dumper

Broken in Aurora and Nightly Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

NB: This is broken in current Aurora and Nightly builds. It's installed, but the Dump List button no longer appears inn the Addons Manager tab. (It shows briefly when the tab is rendered, then vanishes.) It works fine in FF 4.01 and 5.0 beta.

Extension List Dumper

Enhancement suggestion Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

Thank you much for ELD. Firefox 4 broke MR Tech Toolkit, and ELD provides a much needed fill for a gap that left. The right-click option to open the Addons Manager in a new tab is especially useful, and the addon itself reduces the need to access the Tools menu (the Menubar is hidden in my installation.) There's a future expansion I'd love to see, but it's not clear how easy it would be to implement: Extend ELD to handle other forms of Addons. In particular, I'd *love* to be able to dump a list of installed UserStyles. I make extensive use of Jason Barnabe's Stylish extension, to modify web pages and FF itself wih custom CSS, but Stylish provides no way to dump a list of installed styles. If this is a "You *must* be joking! Do you have any idea what would be involved in doing that?" request, I'll understand. But it it *is* doable, I think it would be a good future direction to go. Thanks!

EPUBReader

Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

It works very well, but needs three additions. Right now, it creates a catalog of EPUB volumes automatically, and adds any volume you read to it. The catalog lives in the profile directory. If you have more than one FF profile, customized for different purposes, like I do, and you want EPUBReader installed in all of them, you have multiple, out of sync catalogs.

It should be possible to not have a catalog at all, to choose not to add a volume to the catalog if you have one, and to specify where the catalog is created so it can be shared between profiles if you choose to have a catalog.

Lucifox

A newer version for FF 4 is available Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

Note: the version linked to at the top of this page is 0.81, and does *not* work in FF 4.0. There is an 0.82 release that *does* work, but you need to use Show All Versions to see it.

Or, you can use a direct link: :-)
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/117043/lucifox-0.8.2-sm+fx.xpi?src=version-history

The other comparable addon is EPUBReader. IT works well, but Lucifox gets the nod here because it lets you not have an ePub catalog, and specify where it is located if you do.

Configuration Mania

How about a partial export? Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

How about a partial export? Prefs.js includes *everything*, and you may not want to clone your whole Firefox config. You're more likely to have specific config options you wish to apply to others profiles.

The best way I can think of is exporting the desired settings to a user.js file. If a user.js file exists in the profile directory, it will be read, and setting in it will override those in prefs.js Since prefs.js is created and maintained by the browser, manual editing isn't recommended.

I used this trick under FF2, as I had multiple FF profiles customized for different purposes but wanted all to share the same bookmarks file. A one-line users.js file with the appropriate value for browser.bookmarks.file dropped into each profile directory did the trick. (FF3 removed that preference, so I had to come up with a different approach.)

OpenBerg Lector 5

Dead product Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternen

OpenBerg Lector has been abandoned for years, and the home page for the software is now in the hands of a click harvester. I'd give it no stars, but Addons won't let me do that.

People interested in reading ePub files in Firefox should look at EPUBReader, at
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/epubreader/

That one works fine here under FF 3.6 and 4.0, and I use it to read locally stored ePub content with file://<path to file>

Stylish

UserStyles.org alive for me Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

@Glen Ford
UserStyles.org works fine here, in FF 3.6. My ISP is Roadrunner, and I have both hardware and software firewalls active.

Sounds like it may be a DNS issue with your ISP.
