MegaUpload DownloadHelper

Non starter Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternen

This addon basically auto-creates a 'Save File to [Folder]' box when you attempt to download at MegaUpload, as the above picture illustrates.
Quite useless for me, cuz it doesn't manipulate/disable/bypass the assigned country slots.

Save Link in Folder

... & don't be bewildered by the blaring criticism below. I can see their points, but some of the explanations sought are available at the developer's homepage. It also appears he is German so maybe the cursory presentation here might have been a culture/language thing.

Here, I copied some of the info over (slightly re-edited) to provide as a primer:

- - - - - -
1. Install the extension and enter the options-dialog to set your personal folders.

2. The following options can be set for each folder INDIVIDUALLY and IN GENERAL:-

* Open a "Save As..."-dialog before downloading.

* Open the target folder when the download starts.

* A file-prefix and/or file-suffix which can be added to the filename. (Including useful variables like day, month, year, hour, minute or second; website URL, domain or title; a "globally unique identifier"; a random number; & current clipboard text.)

* Various options in case a duplicate filename exists (SaveAs-Dialog, Auto-Increment, Cancel, Overwrite).

3. Later on - when accessing the new context-menu in the browser - you have the following options:

* Performing a NORMAL CLICK on a folder will use the INDIVIDUAL SETTINGS.

* Holding down the SHIFT-KEY while clicking on a folder will bypass the individual settings and use the GENERAL SETTINGS.

This feature gives you the opportunity to decide spontaneously if certain dialogs should pop up (or not) when choosing a folder.

Take note that the developer has another "Save Image in Folder" addon. Why not combine both into one? Well, it looks like the other is much more popular -- by a mile -- & had also been featured in Japanese tech mags (documented in his website).

Might have anticipated that those downloaders would not have wanted any non-image "extras", when he decided to develop the apps separately back in 2005.
