Bing Search for Firefox

Works, but is disappointing from Mozilla Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternen

Ignore the references by other reviewers to spyware and viruses; this extension is safe, but a bit naughty. People will have a reasonable expectation that this will only add a search provider for Bing to your search bar. Sadly it also changes your home page and installs an extension that forces the Bing provider to the top of your search providers list, and sets it as the active provider, *every time Firefox starts*. Modifying your search providers list does nothing, as Bing will be reinstated next time you start Firefox, even if you removed it from your search providers. The workaround is to install the extension and then uninstall it again (from Add-Ons -> Extensions). Bing will remain in your search providers list, except that now you will be free to change its position in the list and not have it forcibly set as the active provider. For an extension that you expect to just add a new search provider to hijack your providers list and not let you keep an alternative provider as the active one is really bad. Mozilla, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Firebug

Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

Hugely useful, absolutely indespensible extension.

Re. the review below: hardly a fair rating, even if the complaint was wholly accurate, which it is not. While Firebug 1.2 has lost the convenient global disable/enable-per-site option it had before, in its place is the option to separately disable the console logger, script debugger, and network monitoring sections, each of which can be disabled globally and then re-enabled per-site. Very useful indeed if you only ever use the HTML/CSS trace features and don't need the script debugger slowing everything down. If you're still concerned about the performance impact of the HTML/CSS/DOM inspectors (I have no idea what this is in reality) you can always disable the extension when not developing, or just run a separate developer profile as I do.
