If I have many Gmail accounts, each tab for each different account will have same URL, like this:
Even though they have the same URL, they are displaying completely different content, and they still get closed by DTC. If you can programmatically detect that the tabs are different and not close them, that would be ideal. An easier way might be to allow the user to edit a list of exempt URL's that will not be closed, like the one above. You could put Gmail URL's in the list by default.
Of course, you can do both different content detection, and a list of exempt URL's.
I am having the same issue as reported by "The Goggles", and others. Basically, the extension closes all open tabs after a restart because they are all identically blank for a short period of time while Firefox loads them. In my case, I'm also using Session Manager with thousands of tabs in various windows, and I thought the bug was in Session Manager when it would fail to restore my sessions. Then I realized that disabling this Duplicate Tabs Closer solved the problem, so the bug is definitely in Duplicate Tabs Closer, not Session Manager.
I just made another discovery. When moving tabs between windows, Duplicate Tabs Closer will "eat" them if it is enabled. I had lost of work from "disappearing tabs" in the past, and I couldn't figure out where they went. DTC is to blame.
This is one of the most important extensions for Firefox. It works, but it has too many bugs. It also isn't maintained very well, so it seems like the number of times my tabs get screwed up increases after each new release of Firefox. Someone needs to make an alternative tab tree extension that is compatible with Session Manager and Tab Mix Plus. Until then, this is your only choice. It's worthwhile to use it, and it won't ruin anything, but don't expect it to always work like it is supposed to.
I have found that auto-hide sort of "resets" the tab tree so it displays correctly if something goes wrong. That might help you if you are annoyed at how often this extension exhibits bugs and strange behavior.
ctrl+shift+s conflicts with NoScript, and there's no way to change it.
This should become a web standard. Having versions of this extension for other browsers would speed that right along. This is the blue cheese of Firefox extensions. Old, moldy, and delicious. Saving maff files lets me have it as old and moldy as I can handle. Yum!Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (2.0.8) abgegeben.
Unbelievable! Why didn't I think of this? Why didn't EVERYONE think of this? Perspectives solves ALL of the major weaknesses of SSL Unbelievable! With Perspectives, we don't need to trust certificate "authorities", and most importantly, we don't need to pay them anymore either! Unbelievable! Yes, oooooh yessss, this extension makes it possible for everyone to use self-signed certificates securely and safely. You no longer need to pay attention to security warnings - ignore them! Perspectives will take care of security for you, and it suppresses countless security warnings until they're really necessary and important. Tor users will love this - no more man in the middle attacks on Tor exits! Unbelievable!
So why did I only give 4 out of 5 stars? Because this is not a platform independent project. You prefer Google Chrome? Too bad. Your grandma still uses Internet Explorer? Too bad. You're a power user that uses FireFox, Opera, Chrome, IE, Konqueror, Safari, etc? Nope, you're not important either! The only extension available is only for FireFox. If you want to help the project by running notary servers - this is kind of funny - You have to do in Ubuntu and...Amazon Cloud! Yes, it's that specific, nothing else is supported. WTF?! Why bother trying to change the world if only the starbellies benefit?
Make an extension for every browser that supports extensions. Hassle the browser developers to support notary servers natively so extensions aren't even required. Put together a crossplatform solution that benefits everyone, not just people using FireFox with Ubuntu on Amazon Cloud...The whole world needs this!
This is the add-on that made me love FireFox. It's not perfect, but it's close enough. I wish it would "minimize" like the Windows taskbar when clicking on the already active tab, and then switch the previously active tab. Sometimes tab sorting and stacking and organizing and ... and ... can be frustrating, but most of the time it's a joy. I have hundreds of tabs open at once, and this is what makes it possible to use them all like a mega-power-user. Thanks!Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (0.14.2012122901) abgegeben.
This is a fantastic add-on! Bit it's not perfect...Sometimes the note I'm writing suddenly disappears, then it gives me an error about being unable to save the note due to low disk space. Then it disables itself. I have plenty of disk space, and I would really really like to be given a chance to copy my work before Internote vaporizes it.
UPDATE 2012 January 07
It looks like this add on is interacting with the tree style tabs add on. That info might help with fixing the bugs. After I add a new note to a page, and then hover my mouse over tree style tabs, the background of the tab area turns black. That seems to happens when Internote is working correctly. If more testing is needed to fix this bug, let me know what to test.
A promising extension, but I could not use it because it does not work on small screens. The dialog popups are always partly off-screen, and they're unresizable. The options dialog breaks out into its own window instead of staying in a tab, and most of the time there's no draggable titlebar either. It takes a lot of effort to defeat HTML's natural flexibility, and modern usefulness of tabs.
If you could get it to display a draggable titlebar, along with the ability to resize it, then I can move it to be on-screen, and resize it to fit. Giving scrollbars when I resize it smaller than you intend for it to be would allow it to fit in any screen. When that much works, then I can try this again.
