Nice add-on Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

Although it is a bit too complicated compared to nosquint, this works flawlessly. Default zoom and site-specific are there too.
There is one feature I miss the most, it is nosquint's exceptions system, for specific pages or url (with wildcard). Is there a way to set this somewhere yet?

Expose text & page zoom (for NoSquinters) Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

The author of NoSquint is directing us your way! Zoom Page is very nice; exposing both text and page zoom options (dynamically) would make it ideal (and really help out incoming folks from NoSquint). Perhaps I'm missing it, but it seems that to switch from page to text zooming the options menu needs to be changed. We were used to CTRL + for page and CTRL SHIFT + for text increases (substitute - for decreases). I'm using the term "expose" as this functionality is clearly there and well done, yet the page-to-text (and back) switching is cumbersome via the options menu. Thank you for your time and consideration!

Great addon, feature request implemented Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

Thank you for your work.

There are in my case two frustrating things though:

1. it would be very helpful if there would be a second shortcut pair (Ctrl + Shift + "+" and "-") for setting the zoom using ANOTHER (higher/lower) increment. ("Zoom Step 2" parameter might be needed). A shortcut for reaching the predefined zoom levels would be a minimum.

2. No way to actually set the zoom in 1% steps. Even though the "Zoom step" is set at 1%, the result when actually setting the zoom is not as expected: the display only changes in 2% or 3% increments (the gap probably grows with the zoom). This is not "site specific". Here are my zoom values for which i do get a zoom refresh on my screen: 101, 103, ... ,124 (all 2% increments), 127, 130, 132, 135, etc.

I would need increments (for a specific use in gmaps) as small as possible - 0.1% WOULD BE EVEN BETTER.

If you don't have full access to the zoom because of internal firefox limitations, and you could address my 1st problem in the future, I will give you 5stars.

EDIT: "1." feature request was very rapidly addressed and implemented in Version 14.4.
Many thanks! 5 STARS

Replacement for NoSquint Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

Been using NoSquint for years and needed a replacement because it stopped working.
You made a gread addon, I like it, thank you.
One improvement: Please instead of this combobox for the default zoom with the values you chose, give us an option to choose our own values. For example I don't want 150% but 155% but cannot choose this.
Thanks

EDIT: Seems I cannot answer your answer. Ok that worked, thank you. I tried those options but they were a bit confusing with those three buttons (and me too stupid).
Thanks :)

Edit: Confusing, I had simpler... Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

Edit: Couple hours later I restarted FF, and tried this. Not the profile I normally use, in fact just Mint Live USB session without persistent storage - as either this, or another same kind of messed my zoom settings even after removing.
HOWEVER, IT SEEMS TO WORK: I configured the default mode to Fit-To-Width/Site Specific - if there are issues with it, I might try Default/Site Specific, as I can always manually select from zoom menu "fit-to-width", right?
I'm using default zoom mode set to text-only - I dislike full page zoom, although either this or another addon warned that text-only mode might cause fit-to-width to not work properly.
I will have to find a page that goes wider than monitor (I know many) when I zoom the text enough to view it comfortably from this distance - then I'll know if this is OK, but the settings and how they affect, and even what are they supposed to affect is confusing to me... However, I'm now giving 4 start, until it blows on my face or actually proves to do exactly what I want :)
My review before this edit is below - if there is anything that conflicts with anything below this, well, consider the above text to be "new testament" of this review ;)

I've tried to look for the perfect solution - NoSquint is most of what I'm looking for - Separate Full Zoom and Text Zoom, as well as separate global defaults and site specifics... and on top of it style options - I don't set global defaults to them, but on some sites you have to even disable background for regular text, and quite a few sites are in great need of forcing underlining and/or color of links - It's the color most often, and if that's the case I always make them all underlined too.
But NoSquint don't do fit-to-width, which became an absolute necessity with my first netbook, with 1024x800. Maybe my next (RIP my Asus and Acer netbooks) I will run only UC Browser for Android (Android x86 on Linux is easy), because it, like many, mobile browsers support fit-to-width, although it's really reformatting to one column, instead of just scaling.

This add-on worked, but it was confusing and I never managed to get it do quite exactly what I wanted. Besides, I think on one regular laptop, after uninstalling, it had permanently messed up the normal page content zooming functionality :/ Not saying for sure it was this.

The thing is, ridiculously, when I need to use zoom (text only, I have Image ZooM when I need to enlarge images) - and I need, considering I used to use my desktop PC from Sofa, which means I can't get my screen as close to my face as with chair and desk - and now that I have big FullHD (fake, this cheap doesn't have option to enable TRUE FullHD, where edges of the sweet 1920x1080 resolution are NOT outside the visible area - still great resolution, but now my distance is even further - and there are sites that get wider than 1280 from just zooming text nowdays, wtf? Even wider than 1920.
So the issue is not just netbook resolutions, though I find it laughable that back in the early 2000's still you could view most sites designed with sidebars on both sides and sometimes even the middle content area divided in two - on 640x480 resolution. That's 640 pixels wide. 800x600, and only really badly designed pages with pixel-based table-formatted layout with fixed size for every part, which might have required even as wide as 1024px width. My sites can be viewed in 320x200 if wanted - without it switching to mobile-friendly layout, if wanted.
I don't understand web designers today, their sites often look better on mobile view - I need fit-to-width, with as little effect on my text-zoom...

Any suggestions, userscript, addon, how to achieve it best with this addon, that would do exactly what I need:
I need fit-to-width, with as little effect on my preferred site-specific text-zoom level.

I remember trying this, NoSquint, something with FullZoom in it's name - and something did what I wanted on that Asus EeePC netbook I had (have, but monitor broken, so usable with external only - actually mostly acts as server, with remote access).

Simply GREAT !! Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

This is a must have add-on at the time of the HTML errors in formatting being made. By being automatic, it is effortless.
As most are using the 'movie' monitor format, and not the 4/3, or 5/4 that some of us like...this add-on will fix that formatting for you !! Love it !!

opening a link chamges the zoom of current tab Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

hi
I use inoreader for rss browsing and I have configured it to open feeds links in a new tab.
now when I click on the link of feed to open it in a new tab it causes the current tab zoom setting to go from page to text zoom.
I have noticed that the site that I open from the current tab has text zoom mode set so maybe that causes it.
the weird thing is that opening the tab causes the zoom mode text indicator of the current rss reader tab to go to text zoom mode at 100 % (shown in the zoom addon button and even though the zoom of the page was 133%) but it doesn't actually change the page zoom but if I use zoom in and zoom out with mouse then zoom becomes text mode.
if before zooming I go to another and come back the zoom at the addon button is correct again (page mode) and zooming in and out doesn't make it go text mode .
but the bug again happens if I open the feed item in a new tab that belong to a website that is set to text mode.

this maybe because of firefox changes that the new tab url is loaded as current tab url somehow ( I am not a computer programmer ) I saw something like this happen for another addon that worked with per domain setting .it is called umatrix.
and the bug that is similar to the one here is this.
https://github.com/gorhill/uMatrix/issues/395#issuecomment-156816208

edit: answer:

when the addon is even disabled this bug wont happen (I thought I clarified that)
is there some other way I can answer to your replies?

Meta data leakage, security concern Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

After reading the reply from the developer this issue is in a different ligth, I'm adjusting my rating accordingly.
-----
The new feature that remembers zoom levels for specific sites.

How does the plug in remember this? Is the site/page address saved in clear text somwhere?

If YES, then this represents a security concern and metadata leakage.

Done properly the some typ of hash should be used for the page addresses, since it is one way only, only another visit on the page will be able to rerun the hash get the same value and set the zoom level.

Why is this important? Some (many) sites have metadata in the URL that will disclose privacy information. And another user on the same computer, or malware, can read the unencrypted file and get the information.

Because of this I can't rate higher than 1 star.

A workaround would be a very obivious setting that is the default that disables this function. If it isn't the default then it is of no use since not all (very few) users notice their addons being updated. And don't know that they need to review the updates to see if any functionality has been added that is unwanted.

Excellent, but cannot import/export settings Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

This is a brilliant extension that can improve web browsing for many people, including those with no eyesight problems.

There are so many helpful settings, per-site even, that it's a pity they cannot be stored/exported for safety and backup. Relying on Firefox-Pale Moon's inbuilt (and global) preferences location is just not enough and risky for so many different and fine-tuned settings - they can be inadvertently deleted for good very easily from a cleaning program or within the browser itself. It'd be an easy 5-star for me with an export/import feature.

Thank you for generously taking the time to answer my other post.

Yes, I had read the bulk of your manual on the home page, when I wrote, but I still couldn't quite follow the settings, which brought me to suggest that you give us a few specific examples, even if it is only on the home page.

I've been working in graphic design since 1996, on two platforms, so I am not exactly computer illiterate, and yet I could still not make out the setting explanations.

For example, portions like this in your manual appear:

"Percentage → click → Zoom Menu → shift+click → Set Text Minimum Zoom Level"

Now, then, does the first part mean "Click the percentage key to display the 'zoom menu'"? If so, I would have expected it to read, "Percentage key + click = Zoom Menu," so you might understand my confusion.

And where you said, "shift+click → Set Text Minimum Zoom Level" mean, "Shift+click anywhere on the screen to set the text minimum zoom level"?

In either case, I could always go through the options, one by one, and through trial and error and by a process of elimination, discover what each setting meant practically speaking, but I just thought it might be easier to suggest giving us a bit of an example for each main point. Of course, if my PageZoom icons were displayed anywhere at all, it might be easier to try each function and see what it did, one by one.

In your response you also said, "Zoom Page allows the user to set the zoom levels to any integer percentage values," and I am sure that a fine add-on like yours must do that, but "how to set those levels" was my question. All I saw in the options window were a set of pre-determined values, one of which was the "FF standard" and the others of which were "custom" sets, but they seemed to be predetermined at 60%, 70%, 80% and unchangeable.

Anyway, I don't want you to lose any more time with me. Just keep up the great work, and I will find a way to make the add-on work for me.

Add-on problem or Firefox issue? Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

EDIT: I see thanks

I manually defined zoom intervals of 1% from 100 to over 400 but when i tested it the page size doesnt change on every tick of the zoom increase for example I increase it to 101 and it changes I increse it now to 102 but nothing happens I increase to 103 and it shows then later it skips higher % like 5 or 6% increases to notice a change. I tried with no squint and it has the same issue at the exact same zoom levels so I was wondering if this could be a firefox problem and if something could be done to catch their attention to fix it or if it's something intentional.

This is the one I was looking for Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

I somehow found this sometime back and became rather dependent on it. Firefox (38.0.?) one day decided it needed to reinstall or rejuvenate or something itself and did so leaving me with no addons or way to find out what the old ones had been. I kept searching for variations of "resize" and finding nothing that worked as well as this. A moment of inspiration (and desperation) and I searched for zoom and here it is, back again. Absolute simplicity, with nothing more than + and - buttons. No resolution menu to choose from, it just makes the page bigger or smaller. Perfection for my purposes, typically something that won't fit or doing a screen capture and want to fit everything in. Thank you DW-dev. Two more of your addons I had to rediscover were Print Edit and Navigate Up. Great job on all these.
