Is there anything I can do to make this FANTASTIC add-on work with the new Firefox 41? The add-on which I rely on an awful lot, doesn't work (i,e, Greek letters which used to be shown using G to show a Gamma are now showing a normal G. This is so BLOODY annoying when browser authors issue a new version which is crappier and less useable that an old version.
Is there anything I can do ? According to the "More.." info when I click this add on the addon updated on 13th June 2015.
I tried this addon to correct a problem where file extensions were not automatically d/l'd and opened by the appropriate program (the old FF octet/stream bug that grays out the "Do this automatically.." for certain file extensions) and it did nothing for the problem. It also slowed down FF CONSIDERABLY and made the browser unstable! I could not remove this addon fast enough (literally). Useless.
Sorry for the inconvenience - honestly this addon hasn't been updated in a long time, as the problems it solves have mostly all gone away. I'm curious what version of Firefox, under what OS, this happens, since I hadn't noticed that problem for a loong time now.
Please download the latest version of Firefox and see if the problem persists.
This add-on caused my browser to slow significantly. It also caused MANY security alerts for redirection of links. I think this is due to a recent change in Firefox since it worked fine for me in the past. I am not a programmer and definitely don't want to discourage anyone from using this useful app. It is more of an informational in case others see the same thing as it took a while to figure out the cause since it wasn't a new add-on for me but rather happened after a Firefox update so I had to check all of them and of course I went in alphabetical order.
Fantastic idea. I installed it hoping it would fix the display of WingDings and WebDings, but it looks like you haven't done that (yet).
There are a TON of people who get annoyed that they can't "correctly" view pages which attempt to display WingDings (which do display under IE). Just search google for "firefox wingdings" (no quotes).
I'm astounded that nobody has a plug-in to fix this issue yet. Your plugin looks like the perfect place to do it.
Instantly fixed a problem with my church's website, which was treating Firefox as a "mobile device." No appreciable slowdown noted for that or other sites so far. Thumbs up!
slows down browser completely
Thank you for reporting this. What Firefox version, addon version and operating system did you notice this with?
Do you have this problem when no other addons are enabled?
Is there a specific feature or page that makes it slow down?
If the problem persists, please report details so the bug can be found and fixed:
It would be great if this extension could make Flash videos embedded with IE-only code playable in Firefox.
Fixed "do this automatically from now on"-Bug.
Thank you very much
I like it for the way it blocks infinite alert() DOS attacks, but don't like the fact that it's a "all-in-one" package with so many other features. Especially as a web developer, I don't want too much stuff messing with my viewing experience.
You should make a separate extension that just does the alerts.
Good point, if you're web-developing it may be a good idea to turn off all those other options. You can do this in the preferences, or go to "about:config" and search for "extensions.mozillawebpagefixer", and turn all the boolean preferences to false.
