URL Bookmark Generator helps you reduce tab clutter by turning selected regions of web pages into visual PNG bookmarks (smart screenshots). Capture only the content you want to remember — regions with text, images, UI elements, or the context around a hyperlink — and save it as a lightweight PNG containing both a screenshot and embedded metadata (e.g., URL, title, capture timestamp). This lets you close tabs without losing the context that made them important. You can then use your file explorer to sort the PNG bookmarks by date modified, and that will allow you to remember the timeline. The screenshot of a PNG bookmark will help you remember why you decided to save it. If you drag-and-drop the PNG bookmark into a browser with this extension installed, the extension will display the URL of the bookmark, which you can click to open.

📌 Capture Page Areas

Select any area of a webpage or capture the whole visible area and save it as a PNG bookmark with embedded metadata.

🔗 “Capture link” — Hyperlink Context Capture

Right‑click any hyperlink and choose “Capture link.”
The extension lets you capture a screenshot of the area around the link and adds a QR code with the link’s URL, title, and capture timestamp.
This preserves why the link was interesting, not just where it leads.

🗃 Improved Tab Management

By default, if you just leave a tab without closing it, the browser may unload it to free system resources according to your settings. However, an unloaded tab sometimes doesn't have a preview, and the content may change on reload, so you may be unsure why you even kept it open. The PNG bookmark, on the other hand, is just a PNG (a smart screenshot with useful metadata), and you can see the previews and the timeline of your PNG bookmarks with your file explorer if the file explorer supports image previews.
