Great but i have one little request... Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
This is great, but the only thing i really want in next versions is the ability to save pin tabs state; in this version if i pin a tab as a app tab, and i save the current layout, i really want it to be able to restore that specific tab as a pin app tab the next time i load the saved layout.
That´s my only complain, other than that this add-on is great!
Added in Version 9.0
This feature has been added in Tile Tabs 9.0.

the menu name "tile" is not localized (in zh-CN)
Good, but a question Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen
Better than the useless alternatives ive seen so far, just one question, IS there a way of locking one tab to the right split tile and keeping it there regardless of what's on the left side? All i want is one constant tab on the right and browse on the left side, this wants to lock each split tab to another tab, i dont want that, im looking for a way to just have one constant tab always displaying on the right side.If this isnt already a feature it should be
EDIT: Thank you for the response, this is exactly what i want
Dual Pane Browsing
Tile Tabs already provides this feature as an option.
To access the Tile Tabs Options window, select 'Tile' on the Firefox main menu, and then select 'Options...'. Alternatively, select 'Tools' on the Firefox main menu, then select 'Add-Ons', then select the 'Extensions' tab, and then click on the 'Options' button in the Tile Tabs entry.
Once in the Tile Tabs Options window, click on the ‘Tabs’ options tab and enable these options:
• 'Assign tab to active tile when untiled tab selected’
• 'Assign another tab when tiled tab closed'
If you now create a new layout with two vertical tiles, you can keep one tab in the right tile, and use the left tile to view any other tab simply by clicking the tab's button (i.e. selecting tabs as you normally do in Firefox). For this to work, you must make the left tile into the “active” tile (e.g. by clicking in the tile’s contents area). If you want to avoid accidentally losing the tab in the right tile, use the 'Show Properties' command (or F1) to set the "tab lock" on the this tile.

I have only had the program for a very short while, but it I found it to be my favorite add-on. I was able to start Firefox, and automatically set my daily four tab layout, plus another instance of Firefox with a three tab layout. Previously, I had to do all of this manually, and without the tiled layouts!
Love at first sight!
AWESOME. Just one suggestion! Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen
I'll admit it. When I found this, I squealed like a baby piglet. I knew it was EXACTLY what was missing from my current browsing experience since I often work better by including more relevant information in my work space rather than less. Ironically, what leads me to love this add-on also highlights its shortcomings as of right now.
Here's the thing: you can only have one instance of tiled tabs at a time. So if you're writing a paper, and you have 3 tabs tiled for research into your first supporting point, you're unable to tile other tabs separate from those, whether they're in the same tab group or not (probably because it tab groups won't make a difference to the code, just thought I'd fill everyone in). If this one hindrance was changed, the way I work would just... evolve. That would be a massive improvement on an already great experience! To make it easier to organize, perhaps tile sets could be numbered like tab groups are?
Multiple tiled layouts
The idea of having multiple tiled layouts at the same time has been requested by a number of users in the past. Technically, this could be done, because the Tile Tabs internal data structures are very generic. The obvious way to do it would be to have a different skin color for each tiled layout, but there are some design and user interface issues that would need resolving. However, his feature has not been implemented for fear of making the user interface more complicated and difficult to understand.
An alternative would be to use the Save Layout command to create a saved layout for each required set of tiled tabs, and then use the Recent Layout command to quickly switch between the tiled layouts.
No drag & drop? Bewertet mit 2 von 5 Sternen
Drag & drop function stops working, when the addon is switched on. E. g., it is impossible drag and drop text from one field to another.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (8.1.1-signed) abgegeben.
Fixed in Version 8.2
Thanks for reporting this problem. It only occurs if you drag-and-drop text containing spaces. You should be able to drag-and-drop text which does not contain spaces. The problem is a result of the stricter security checks implemented in Version 8.1. It is fixed in Version 8.2.

Just one question Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
Excellent does exactly as I wanted, however the problem I am having is I wanted to replicate the "saved tabs" on multiple machines. I am struggling to find where the "saved" links actually get saved in the users profile to prevent me from having to configure each machine individually. Is there a way to copy the file containing the saved tabs to different machines? if so which file? as the only one I have found is the actual extension to do the install but no saved tabs are disaplyed. Thanks
Thank you DW-dev, I've located the file it worked a treat. Great add on !
All of the saved layouts are stored in the 'prefs.js' file in the user's profile folder, for example, on Windows 7: C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile-folder>\prefs.js
DO NOT copy the entire 'prefs.js' file, since this would change all of the user's options settings for Firefox and all add-ons.
Just cut-and-paste the saved layout entries, which each start with: user_pref("extensions.tiletabs.layout-string-

It's ok, but not as impressed as others Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen
This is the best addon I could find to split tabs on the screen. It does this well, but the controls are not particularly user friendly. I end up having to navigate to a menu, a submenu, and a sub-submenu to get anything done. The toolbar button is not very useful to me. I also notice that at least one option in that button is not available in the addon's options window.
So I'd love to see this work with a lot less clicking.
I appreciate the developer's response below, but I already knew all that. We should work on the assumption that I've read the instructions and looked through the addon carefully, rather than assume I don't know what I'm doing.
The core problem is that "their way" of using the browser is not flexibile enough to accommodate me, the end user. All this shift/click/drag stuff gets REALLY confusing if you are already using mouse gestures for other browser functions. If someone wants to memorize this stuff, that's fine for them, but I don't want to. So the only option remaining for me is to click through all the menus and submenus.
Let me be constructive here: My approach would be to include a few extra toolbar buttons with the addon, for functions like tiling the current tab or opening a new tiled tab. Just let the user drag the button(s) he wants onto the toolbar and ignore all the stuff he doesn't want. Much simpler, no?
Anyway, I'm still making use of this addon, so it's not exactly a disaster!
Tile Tabs does work with a lot less clicking
Tile Tabs has many features and options, which if used correctly will considerably reduce the amount of clicking, most importantly:
• Shift+Drag a link or tab onto an existing tile's contents to open the link's or tab's URL in a new tile.
Other examples are:
• Ctrl+Drag a link or a tab onto an existing tile's contents to open the link's or tab's URL in the existing tile.
• Shift+Click on a tab to assign the tab to the active tile.
• Ctrl+Middle-Click on a link a in tiled tab to open the link in the "next" tile in the group (to the right or below).
• Use the drop-down menu on the Properties popup to assign a tab to the active tile.
• Set the default layout to a user-defined layout and then use the toolbar button to open the default layout.
Also, try automatic assignment of tabs - for a better browsing experience - by enabling these options:
• Assign to active tile when untiled tab selected
• Assign another tab when tiled tab closed
All of these features are described on the add-ons homepage on the Mozilla Add-ons website.

great but Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
it conflict with hide tab
when i want hide a tab this not hide because all tab under power of your great script,
please recreate it and fix this problem
Conflict with HideTab add-on
Unfortunately, both Tile Tabs and HideTab use the same CSS property ("display:none;") to hide tab buttons. It is not possible for Tile Tabs or HideTab to know whether this property was set/removed by itself, or the other add-on, or by both add-ons.
If Tile Tabs and HideTab are installed together, both add-ons will end up with confused internal states, which will result in unpredictable behaviour. To resolve this conflict would require a significant design change in Tile Tabs or HideTab or more likely in both add-ons.

Save the money on a second monitor and use this add-on instead Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
This add-on does exactly what its name implies. It allows you to tile two or more tabs to view the contents of them at the same time. This allows you to do many things such as multi-task, cross reference websites, and compare two different products. It has some advanced settings such as hotkeys and saving custom layouts. It is helpful to have a high resolution, widescreen monitor.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (6.3.1-signed) abgegeben.
Revolutionary! Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
Essential add-ons offer practical solutions to increase browser serviceability for the average internet user; however, few achieve the glory of producing a truly revolutionary browsing experience. Standing beside Adblock Plus and Greasemonkey/Scriptish on the pedestal is Tile Tabs (herein TT).
The ease of customizing TT pales when compared to its manifold applications. I use TT predominantly for chat and music usage, but information research, browser and extension troubleshooting, and monitoring multiple feeds are also uses which benefit.
TT is here to stay. The developer is very active and provides continual stable updates and prompt support.
TT can be used out the box, but I recommend experimenting and tweaking the options to acquire maximum usability.

Excellent addon except when saving a new layout will only accept alpha, numeric, and the underline (_) characters. It will not accept a space or any other special characters except the underline. This makes for a sloppy-looking entry. Please allow it to at least accept the space and minus (-) characters.
To MaxStirner, you should be able to drag and drop any link into any tab. Maybe this will help in your Google problem.
Available in version 6.3
Tile Tabs 6.3 has been released and allows spaces and hyphens in layout names, as well as letters, digits and underscores.
Feature request :) Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
I have a feature request - I'm not sure if i can explain it well because I'm not fluent in english but I'm looking for this feature everywhere for years and I can't find it.
Please make it possible that the links from one tab will open in the other - that is - let's say I'm browsing Google and when I click the link then this link opens in the tab below (or above or wherever I choose to). I know that there already exists an option to open the link in the New Tab, but i would prefer not to create new additional tab everytime - instead it should open the link in the preferred position everytime I clik it on my touchpad. Could this be done?
Thank you anyway for this great addon
Similar features already available
You can already do this by dragging a link from one tab to another tab, which will open the link in the second tab. You can also use the "Open In Next Tile" mouse shortcut (by default, Ctrl + Middle-click) to open a link in the "next" tile to the right or below the active tile.
