Version 2.4rc2 160.5 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Fixes a couple important bugs and adds some small features. This is a release candidate for the upcoming 2.4 release.

Note: some less serious issues remain in Firefox 20 and newer; I suspect it's a Firefox bug but continue to investigate.

Bug Fixes (these are also in version 2.3.1):
  • Fixes a problem with "Save Enlarged Image As" in Firefox 19 and newer (current default Release version of Firefox).
  • Fixes a problem where pop-up stop appearing in Firefox 20 and newer (current Aurora and Nightly versions of Firefox).

Other changes:

Version 2.4rc1 159.6 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Changes since 4.2beta3:

Site support:
Other fixes:
  • Fixed problem with Save Enlarged Image As in Firefox 19 (current "Nightly").

Version 2.4beta3 158.1 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Changes since 2.4beta2:

Version 2.4beta2 155.8 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Changes since 2.4beta:
  • Added ixquick.com
  • Added meetme.com
  • Improved positioning of pop-up on Facebook.com profile pics.
  • Version 2.4beta1 154.9 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

    New Features:
    • Added page type "Others (Indirect)", adding support for more web sites:
      • Lets Thumbnail Zoom Plus work with more sites (such as ebay.com).
      • Finds the full-size image "indirectly" by reading the web page of the hovered link.
      • May run slower than other rules since it has to retrieve the extra web page.
      • While it's reading and processing the indirect web page it'll show a TZP working icon with two dots. When it's actually reading the image it'll show the usual working icon with three dots .
      • Known issue: occasionally, when hovering one thumb and quickly moving to another, you may then see the popup from the wrong thumb.
    • Added preference "Max Size", which gives you the option of seeing larger pop-ups than before. It can be set to:
      • "Web Page" (default): the popup will stay within the web page's area of the screen (like prior versions of Thumbnail Zoom did).
      • "Window": the popup will stay within the overall Firefox window, but may cover toolbars and menus.
      • "Screen": the popup may appear anywhere on the screen except areas reserved for the operating system's Task Bar, Dock, overall Menu Bar, or Start Menu. This setting lets you see the largest pop-ups possible.
    • Added a hotkey to Search Google Images for the current image:
      • Press the "g" key while a pop-up is displayed to open a Google Images Search for the viewed image.
      • It's a great way to find a better quality version of an image, or other images related to it.
      • This works by searching for the web address of the image (so it may not work for images which require a log-in).
      • The Google Images Search will be done using Google's default Safe Search settings, which are generally whatever Safe Search settings you used last time. Be advised that it's always possible for Google Search results to include adult content and we have no control over that.
    • Changed the hotkey to toggle image captions from "c" to "i" (as in "information").
    • Copy Image or Copy Image Location to Clipboard:
      • Press the "c" key while a pop-up is displayed to copy the image to the clipboard. You can then paste it into an email, editor, Photoshop, etc.
      • Press the "l" (as in 'location") key while a pop-up is displayed to copy its web location (URL) into the clipboard.
    • Thumbnail Zoom Plus now works "chrome://" and "data://" web page addresses so it can work with pages generated by add-ons like "Show Me More" and "Browse Images".
    • Added preference "Save As Name" to determine the default filename for the Save Enlarged Image As... command. Options are:
      • Caption: use image's caption text, like TZP 2.3
      • Web Address: like TZP 2.2 and older
      • Cap. & Web: caption text followed by web address
      • Web & Cap: web address followed by caption text
    • Bug fixes
Web Site Support using "Others (Indirect)":
    Other Web Site Support:
    • Added redfin.com (for property overview thumb and medium photos; doesn't support gallery of thumbs for an individual property)
    • Added kickstarter.com
    • Improved minus.com
    • Fixed caption text from reddit.com when the Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) is enabled.
    • Fixed godaddy.com to prevent pop-ups from button in My Account and DNS Manager.

Version 2.3.1-signed 135.2 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

    Changes since version 2.2:
    • pbase.com: Added partial support (works on many but not all thumbs)
    • google groups: prevents pop-up when hovering the site's buttons.
    • Amazon Instant Video: prevent pop-ups from buttons
    • deviantart.com: Fixed for very wide and very tall images in the site's new "Wall" layout.
    • Bug fixes
Note: this is an interim release which doesn't have features originally planned for 2.3; those will appear in 2.4.

Version 2.3beta1 135.2 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Version 2.2.1-signed 134.1 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

    Changes since 2.1:

    Site Support:
    New Feature:
    • While a pop-up is displayed, press the square bracket keys “[" or "]” to view the image numerically before or after the displayed image (respectively). EG if it’s displaying cat-3.jpg, pressing “]” will show cat-4.jpg. Press “]” again to go to cat-5.jpg.
      • It increases or decreases the last number in the image’s web address (URL), so it works only if images are named numerically sequentially.
      • It’s useful on sites which name their images using sequential numbers (and even on Google Images searches of those sites), but many other sites don’t name images that way; don’t expect it to work everywhere.
      • Example: Kittens Pictures (hover the main image; after the pop-up appears, press “]” to go to the next; repeat for the next after that).
    Fixes:
    • Improved caption text (for Facebook.com, reddit.com, 500px.com, youtube.com, imgur.com, etc.).
    • Improved “Save Enlarged Image As“: the default filename is now based on the image’s caption text and illegal characters are automatically removed.
    • Improved “Add to history” to add to history not just the popped-up image but also the link which caused it (ensuring the link turns purple on Reddit.com).
    • Changed so Thumbnail Zoom Plus can work on galleries generated by the PrevNextArrows firefox add-on.
    • Fixed problem in Firefox Beta 15 and higher, which sometimes caused pop-ups not to appear anymore.
    • Other bug fixes
Please send feedback to firefox.add.on@davidadler.name .

Version 2.2rc1 134.1 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

I expect this version to be the same as the official 2.2 release.

Version 2.2beta2 134.1 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

    Minor bug fixes.

Version 2.2beta1 134.1 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Version 2.1.1-signed 234.5 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Version 2.1 adds support for more sites (compared to version 2.0):
Note that Bing.com Images no longer show TZP pop-ups due to bing.com site changes, though the site does provide its own (small) pop-ups.

    Other changes:
    • Added tooltip to preference “Show pictures using all available space“.
    • Bug fix: The "Save Enlarged Image As..." command (hotkey 's') was putting an extra '.' in the filename on Windows when the user didn't specify a filename suffix, ending up with e.g. "cat..jpg" .

Version 2.1rc4 234.5 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Version 2.1rc4 has one last bug fix before the official release:
    • The "Save Enlarged Image As..." command (hotkey 's') was putting an extra '.' in the filename on Windows when the user didn't specify a filename suffix, ending up with e.g. "cat..jpg".

Version 2.1rc3 129.0 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

    • Supports more WordPress sites (ones with images like .../wp-content/uploads/...-94x94.jpg)
    Other changes
    • Added tooltip to preference "Show pictures using all available space".
    • Fixed to not show pop-ups on sites like redditp.com, where the thumb is as large as the pop-up.

Version 2.0.1-signed 127.0 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

We've released version 2.0, which displays images faster and adds several new features and sites.

    New Features and Changes:
    • Special mouse cursor when link target is same as pop-up image: A special mouse cursor indicates when the target of the hovered thumbnail or link is identical to the popped-up image. This tells you that clicking the link won’t show you anything different than the pop-up.
    • Save Enlarged Image As (hot-key ‘s’):
      • now saves the image in its original file format and size. No longer converts it to uncompressed png.
      • now disables rather than hiding the menu item when it’s not available (so menu items don’t move while you’re using the menu).
      • now keeps the Save Enlarged Image As menu item active even after the pop-up has closed.
      • the Save As dialog’s title now includes the image’s caption text so you know which image you’re saving.
    • Faster display: pop-ups will now show an image as it loads line-by-line instead of only in large chunks. Helps with slow sites or connections or very high-resolution images.
    • Changed toolbar icon when Thumbnail Zoom Plus is disabled to make it easier to see.
    • Added “Debug” checkbox and “Copy Log” button in Preferences. These help you send information to the developer if there is a problem.
    • Added tool-tip for preference “Scrolling triggers pop-up

Version 1.7.3.1-signed 116.7 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

Version 1.7.3 has these changes since the official 1.7.1 release:

Added the ability to globally enable/disable Thumbnail Zoom Plus:
    • Added global Enablecheck-box to the top of the Preferences window.
    • Added hotkey ‘x‘ to toggle the global “Enable”.
    • When Thumbnail Zoom Plus is disabled, you can still use it if you hold down the “Key to maximize image” (default: Shift) while moving into the thumbnail. Then press ‘x’ to re-enable Thumbnail Zoom Plus.
    • Changed the toolbar menu into a separate toggle button and menu. Click on the button to turn off TZP for all sites or click again to turn on. Or click the arrow to the right of the button for the menu.
    New Preferences:
    • Scrolling triggers pop-up“. By default this is Off, but if you turn it on, scrolling the page under the mouse will trigger pop-ups to appear (which was the default behavior in version 1.6.0). Enabling is useful on sites which aren’t too dense with thumbnails (eg reddit.com); disabling is useful on sites with very many thumbs (eg Google Images).
    • Added preference “Pop-up Takes Keyboard Focus”:
      • When on (the default) the pop-up takes keyboard focus from the web page so you’ll realize typing is for the pop-up’s hotkeys, not the web page. The pop-up closes when it loses keyboard focus.
      • Turn off if you’re having trouble with the pop-up closing immediately or if a web page’s pop-up menus close when the Thumbnail Zoom Plus pop-up appears (eg on certain Linux machines).
    Keyboard:
    • Pressing up, down, left, or right arrow key while pop-up is displayed will now scroll the web page. Used with “Scrolling triggers pop-up” on, lets you view successive thumbs’ pop-ups by simply pressing the “down” key to scroll the page. Limitation: doesn’t scroll html frames.
    • Pressing Return or Enter while the pop-up is displayed is like pressing that key on the page itself, typically activating the hovered link.
    • Non-alphanumeric keys pressed while the pop-up is displayed are now passed through to the web page.
    Supported Sites:
    Bug Fixes:
    • Fixed: in 1.7.2, Thumbnail Zoom Plus pop-ups would not to appear for users who didn't have the Thumbnail Zoom Plus toolbar button in any toolbar.
    • Fixed: now honors disabled site check-boxes more strictly. Previously, disabling e.g. Facebook or Youtube disabled site-specific rules for those sites but didn’t prevent pop-ups due to Others or Thumbnails rules. Now if you disable a site, no pop-ups will appear from that site at all.
    • Fixed: it sometimes re-displayed the pop-up when slowly moving the mouse out of the thumbnail.

Thanks to David Kump for running tests for me and raymond.l for reviewing 1.7.3 so quickly.

Version 1.7.3rc1 116.7 kB Funktioniert mit Firefox 3.0 und neuer

    Important bug fix:

This fixes a bug in 1.7.2 and all of the 1.7.2 betas, which caused Thumbnail Zoom Plus pop-ups not to appear at all for users who don't have the Thumbnail Zoom Plus toolbar button in any toolbar. Version 1.7.3 and 1.7.3rc1 are be identical.

By default that button is automatically added to the toolbar so the majority of users didn't see the problem. But users who happened to have removed that toolbar button weren't able to use Thumbnail Zoom Plus anymore when 1.7.1 upgraded to 1.7.2.

This problem is now fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks to David Kump for running tests for me.
