This DOES work in v3.6 - I'm using it now.

It was quite a faff to install though, given that it's been marked as incompatible. I had to install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter first (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003), which handily disabled compatibility checking, then I downloaded this add-on via the direct link:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/latest/13000/

Incidentally, if you are also using Tab Mix Plus, you might want to go into Options --> Mouse --> Mouse Gestures and uncheck 'Mouse click (down and release) to select a tab', as it makes using Tab History Menu a lot easier.

Just installed 3.6 and found my favorite add-on (TAB HISTORY MENU) was not compatible. I hope you will be updating it. Thanks

This looks like a great add-on, however I can't find the feature in Mix Tab Plus to turn off to get it to work. Please can someone be specific about this. Thanks.

That's just what I was looking for.

You could get Repetitive Strain Injury going back and forth to the... er... back and forward buttons.

Another suggestion:
Open the menu with the history of the tab after clicking on it (mouseup), not to click on it (mousedown), so that the menu is not displayed when you click the tab to change its position in the tabs bar.

Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (2.0.4) abgegeben.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I wrote a version which will open the menu after the tab is clicked(click event), but If you try to click the tab again(mousedown event), the menu is first closed by the mousedown event, and when the click event is finally fired, the menu was already closed. So I have to simulate a toggle effect here, but there is a subtlety. The toggle effect works like this: if the menu is closed by clicking on the tab(mousedown event), the following click event shouldn't open the menu, and here comes the problem: the menu closing event is fired before the mousedown event(a bit unlogical, but may be attributed to the menu closing being an OS level event), and there is not way of knowing if the menu is closed by clicking on the tab or clicking on other parts of the browser(which shouldn't prevent the menu from being open the next time the tab is clicked). So I've run out of ideas to solve this problem now, if you have any idea, please let me know. And since the problem with mousedown is dragging a tab leaves the menu open, it can be solve by making the dragging also close the menu, although the menu will be open for a glancing moment, I think it's acceptable. The new mousedown version is already written and can be downloaded here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/versions/13000

If I somehow manage to solve the preceding problem, a new version of 2.1.0 or something will be released.

I'm amazed at how useful this is. I never liked the back/forward button. So this is a welcomed improvement over it. Good work and better idea!

As REVerdi said there is a need to avoid the appearance of the menu when you're closing a tab by double click. A timer could be added so it handles the event with a small delay that accounts for one used by the double click.

Double-click problem is fixed

The new release is still in the sandbox, but you can try it if you want.

After a little consideration, a timer seems to be a better option, I'll try to implement it. Thanks for your suggestion.

When I give double-click on the tab (to close it), the menu with the tab's history is also displayed. Is there a way to avoid this?

I'll implement that.

I'm sorry, I didn't consider that. I'll add this feature(closing a tab will also hide the history menu) in the next version, please wait.

Very good extension. It allowed me to create the ultimate minimal Firefox window layout by allowing me to finally remove the Back and Forward button. It didn't work at first until I went into Tab Mix Plus and turned off the setting that is mentioned above in the description. Once that was gone it worked perfectly.

Just needs some more features, like the ability to have a drop down button on the tab that shows the menu instead of just clicking the tab. Other than that, it's perfect for what I need.

Thank you for reviewing

Can you tell me why do you need a drop down button? When you click on the selected tab, nothing will happen if this addon is not installed. So click on the select tab to show the history menu doesn\'t interfere with other functionalities, and click the selected tab by mistake is a bit unlikely.
