Strip Clickbait von Mads Hvelplund

A Firefox WebExtension (Manifest V2) that translates clickbait article link text into plain, descriptive AI summaries — right from the context menu.

API Key

You need to make an OpenAI API key. Token-wise, this plugin is almost free, but there needs to be some money in the account. The token never leaves your browser's local storage, so if you have multiple machines, you need to type it in on each of them.

What it does

1. Right-click any link → Translate Clickbait
2. The extension fetches the linked article in the background.
3. OpenAI generates a concise, factual replacement title (≤ factor× the original title length; default: 2.0×).
4. Results are cached in local storage for future visits to the same link.
5. The link text on the current page will update immediately to show the AI title, prefixed with 🤖.
6. Cached titles will be reapplied automatically on page load — no extra API calls needed.

Setup

After installing the add-on, go to the settings for the plugin and enter your API code. That's it; start right-clicking text links!
