Lots of options
…it's a pity that it's not compatible with Firefox anymore. And it doesn't look like it's going to be updated anytime soon. The four stars are for the past, not the present…
nice plugin but not compatible with ff 53 now :)
Useful and works as described, however I also experience the bug where "on any page it jumps to the last searched term if found, even if the search is not in use" as mentioned in this review https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/scrollbar-search-highlighter/reviews/727858/
Very nice addon, that aids me in my daily tasks.
Well, too bad it's impossible (or is it?) to integrate higlighting into the scrollbar itself in Firefox. Could you please add an option to put highlight bar left of the scrollbar - i am more accustomed to dragging my scrollbar, instead of clicking on specific place to scroll there instantly.
Работает хорошо и настройки есть все, какие нужны.
I like this addon very much. Thanks for the contribution
I think the "sight" looks a little cheap. Something like Safari or in Google docs could be better. But it's not a big problem because I can disable that option
Again, thanks for the great work :)
This addon used to work properly till Firefox 31 - now it does not highlight by default in spite of revelant option selected in its configuration.
Please fix it.
This is a very good Application, BUT !..
It can Not find the same selected [sentence] more than 1 time (If the sentence can be found more than one time in the page of course).
It can Not find all the matches as perfectly as the "Fastest Search" Addon!
What makes "Fastest Search" best from the rest, is its ability to highlight All the selected, matched words I choose, or even Sentences in a webpage, and it finds them All!!
*Even if there is a DUPLICATION of the sentence in the whole page!
Also, in (Fastest Search), if you click on the Red Highlighted text on the Right top of the page, it can automatically scroll you down ↡, to the rest of matched results, found on the Page!
If "Scrollbar Search Highlighter", could do that, I will install it back again to my Favorites addons. ↺
EDIT: Thanks for kindly replying to my review and my e-mail. Hopefully you'll be able to also fix compatibility with Firefox 27. ;)
I can only assume from the lack of communication and updates, that the developer has ceased work in this add-on. I've tried to contact him by e-mail but received no response.
Scrollbar Search Highlighter was one of the add-ons that first got me into the whole Firefox customization. This add-on provided a unique functionality, that you simply couldn't find anywhere else. Unfortunately, it fails in some specific pages and it will break completely in Firefox 27.
I have since written my own add-on, called "FindBar Tweak", which was greatly inspired by this and other add-ons. Unless work is resumed here, I would invite everyone to switch to FBT, it has a similar highlights grid in the scrollbar, with greatly improved performance and functions perfectly in frames, pdf documents, gmail, etc, and ensures it will remain compatible with future versions of Firefox!
I'm sorry for the spam, but I believe my add-on now becomes a necessary alternative to Scrollbar Search Highlighter, which will stop working completely in the very near future.
After having worked on several unreleased versions of this add-on, I've just requested an updated version (1.61) to be released that should be compatible with Firefox 25 and newer. Stay tuned!
Great, this is what i was missing! It could be improved though. I'm joining in suggestion that it would be better to show it on inside of scrollbar instead of outside. But I would be also happy to see option for hiding search bar after X seconds without focus, like it was in opera <15.
This is a great add on : ) I see it's a year since you've updated it but I just have a couple of requests in case you're thinking of working on it anytime.
Just cosmetic changes ... I'd really like an option to have it showing on the inside of the scrollbar rather than the outside, and it would be great also if there were an option to show it on the left hand side.
Still fantastic anyway, five stars from me.
Nice addon, thanks! Can you make the scrollbar highlight work in "view page source" ? And wherever there is a search functionality.
Thank you for your attention! Im using firefox 19,linux
1.In www.blogger.com Blogger Editor Scrollbar Highlighter Invalid...?!
3.If your find bar already have text, it is no Count...?!
Спасибо. То что нужно. Looks like as chrome.
Excellent! Thank you very much, does exactly what it says, no more no less.
It is very nice feature but there isn't support to upcoming native pdf viewer (called PDF.JS) in Firefox. If it is possible please add this support :)
ver. 1.57 has some quirks/bugs? in my FF (15.0.1). Switching off "Highlight all" button on findbar drops "Count" to 0 results!?. Than (if "highlight all by default" option is enabled) subsequent switching on "highlight all" on findbar has no effect - no marks highlighted at all. I need to reenter search substring to get search marks again. Also marks positioning relative to visible page area is not accurate enough - especially on the end of the page. So I'm still using Search Marker.
All I have to say is finally.... Firefox couldn't make this feature. Pity.
Nice idea BUT many issues:
- does not save color choice for Highlighting- if doing QuickFind/Find as You Type, highlights disappear after Finder goes away, so results are lost
- If select word(s) first then open Finder, Highlighting of results and scrollbar do not show up.
- Results only work if you TYPE in FInder- cannot close Finder with keyboardWould be nicer if highlights were on the left of scrollbar, as it is too lose to the edge of the screen and difficult to access with multiple monitor set-up.
Also bettwer if Extra-Wide setting was wider; easier for 27" monitors
Using FF 16.0.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8
Consider FindBar Tweak instead
Thank you for the great extension and the superb idea!
I have to say, I do have some problems with its behavior: In order to have the marks on the correct relative position to the highlights on the page (in a relative scale the whole scrollbar height reflects the whole length of the page), I have to take care that I submit the 'Search' (or 'Highlight all'), when the scrollbar shifter is in the top position of the page. Otherwise (e.g. when viewing the tail of the page), the Highlighter calculates the relative positions for the rest of the page, but puts the marks next to the top of the scrollbar (not proportionally).
I suggest two possible correction: a) Spread the marks proportionally to the visible part of the page (not the luckiest solution), but would reflect the reality. b) Always calculate and display the position of the marks/search for the whole page. Regardless of the view position. This would be the best solution, because the height of scrollbar shifter reflects the relative viewing window and the user can move the shifter to the desired occurrence.
Thank you for listening! Cheers, M
Great add-on! Sadly, it does not work together with the Find All add-on.
Sadly, on a Mac Snow Leopard and ff 15, it makes the scrollbar disappear on several pages, if I just hover the mouse cursor over it...
