Thanks for the great add-on! I've been getting through wikipedia and science news articles so fast I run out of them to read! Now I just have to find something to do with the rest of my free time. I have one suggestion though. It would be neat if there was an option to select between a maximum word limit and a maximum character limit. In a maximum character limit, the number of words shown adapts to the length of the words. So for example, a phrase like "is in an" would appear at once, but a word like "atmosphere" would appear alone. Of course, words longer than the character limit wouldn't get cut off. But as it is, this is still the best RSVP reader I've found.

maybe is not easy to use perfectly but its the greatest and simplest reader i have tested. would be perfect to make a standalone of this. i have a usefull bug or maybe i just made a config that i don't know which is... my app shows 3 lines of 6 words (i choosed the words but the lines nope). its really great and would be grater if i can put more lines so i can go forward or backward in the reading without increase or decrease wpm. there is an option about this or its just a usefull bug? salute!

love this ap but it appears everytime i select some text... It would be cool if i could desable it when i don't need.

You can disable it

In the Add-on options, under 'Presentation', untick 'display immediately'. When it's disabled like this, you can bring Reasy up using the action key, the default being 'r'.

Mostly does what it claims, but sometimes annoyingly closes before the selected text has been completely displayed.

A couple of suggestions for additional functionality:

-A counter that shows how many words are still left.

-An option for scrolling text (the whole text selected) like you have in some speed reading tutorials, and the ability to adjust the scrolling speed.

-In flashing words mode, an option for automatic color highlighting of a letter in the same place for every word, i.e. coloring the approximately middle most letter of every word, and keeping that in the same spot word after word. This helps focusing and relaxing the eye.

(If you need a reference, both of these last mentioned things are available for example in the Android app called Speed Reading Trainer)

Sorry but Reasy does not work !
B & F key never worked.
Reasy does not work when you use it twice in the same session !
Spritz is much more better but not for Firefox !
What a pity not to have a valuable adds-on for speed reading on Mac...

Great Addon! Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

After reading about Spritz I was trying to find an RSVP to work in Firefox - after trial-and-error I found Reasy to be the best. Experiment with the number of words displayed, font size and speed - currently I find 1 word displayed, font of 55 and speed of 420 is working well for me. Reasy allows you to easily find what works for you. Also, "back button" ('b' key) is quick easy way to jump back if you want to re-read something...

cool now i don't have to ctrl + c and ctrl +v to some editor to speed read!!!

Very worthwhile Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

Lacking a decent RSVP reader for Mac, I've been cutting and pasting text to Dictator (Windows XP in Parallels). Reasy seems like a perfect solution to that, but it's not particularly well-documented, and a considerable amount of trial and error may be involved before it makes sense to you.Even then, several of the preferences seem to do nothing: 'live link pseudo emulator,' 'skip over words,' and 'multi-line text spacing' (multi-line is an option in the video instructions that I don't see in the add-on). And what on earth is a 'z-index' supposed to be? In any event, as I said, changing values for any of these appears to do nothing. In case selecting text doesn't work when you have it set to open automatically, there's a context menu entry for invoking the add-on (nice feature). One nice improvement would be a fade back to the original screen, or at least a pause after the last word. If your original is from a white page, and you have Reasy set to subdued colors (I prefer lower contrast) and the original page dimmed (nice feature btw), the snap back to white can be jarring on the eyes.

****EDIT****

Thanks for your quick reply and the link to the issue tracker.

Sorry for the bad documentation

I haven't made another tutorial since the first version, and the extension has evolved to meet certain user requests. Just to clear up a few things:

* 'live ink' mode will only become active if you are already viewing in multi line mode (show leading and trailing line)
* 'skip over words' sets how many words will be skipped forwards or backwards using the skip keys
* 'mult line text spacing' sets the margin size between each line when in multi line mode, so you will only see this doing something when you have 'Show leading and trailing line' enabled
* z-index sets the position that reasy takes on top of other elements in the web page, I made this a configuration so that I wouldn't be contributing to a z-index war where everybody sets a maximum z-index and the parameter becomes useless

I appreciate your comment about fading the reading window away, please could you add it to the issue tracker, you might find some more answers to things you've been wondering about there as well

One of the most usable and productive extensions ever! Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

It's hard to believe that such a small piece of code can help you so much in the real life. Thank you - I'm still practising but I'm reading much faster already. Please do not abandon this project (if you can of course). Thank you again :)

Love this extension, but the selection of text to open Reasy interferes with Evernote. Is it possible to add an option that turns that off? The context menu way works fine.

Made an account just to let you know how much I love this extension! It is absolutely amazing and I'm really pleased with it. Thank you very much!

Great Add-on. But I only have on problem.
Instead of having space to determine words,
you choose the amount of words.
This isn't a problem when you have shorts words; for, is, at, from. But when you are working with larger words; Stupendous, Generality, Obscenity. It's goes out of my fixation range. So, I was thinking, instead of having the amount of words, you could have the amount of space, pixels, or characters.

Make it work from Firefox > 3.7 Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

In order to make the addon work in Firefox 3.7+ => Download the addon. Then open the XPI file using WinRAR/WinZIP/7zip and edit install.rdf. Make em:maxVersion="5" (For Firefox 5 just in case) and then put the updated file back into the XPI file. Then open the XPI file with Firefox and install it as you normally would.

Thanks for helping folks

I adjusted the compatibility to FF4 ages ago, but it was downgraded by the admin for undisclosed compatibility problems.
I've just bumped it back up because I couldn't find any problems with it, please let me know if this is working ok for you.

Reasy for FF4 Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

There is only one thing I was looking for in FF4 and it was whether or not this plug-in would be usable with it. I'm using Chrome for one reason only: Reasy. I've searched and searched but I can't find any substitutions for it. This plug-in is the best ever.

Should be ready now

Hi Ben, I've just uploaded an update that should get this working for FF4+, I hope it gets approved soon so you can start using it again

Awesome!! Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

An amazing add-on. I have already researched the was of getting rid of sub-vocalization and increased my words per minute rate to 720 by practicing it while reading books. Now I can surf the web and do the same! I have another suggestion for the add-on. Could you have the lines possibly group together, like displaying 16 words within two lines of 8? Thank you. AMAZING.

An absolutely stunning plugin. I love it because I can make a text very large and dim the background (great features). I have right away doubled my reading pace. I can, from the very start, go up to 350 words per minute, which would be an impossibility for a newbie like me with a normal book.

I would humbly suggest one feature ;-) - that one could set not only the number of words displayed (this is a problem sometimes especially when reading specialized text that has very long words) but a desired number of letters (e.g. 15) - then if the words are short it could display 3-5 words, but when very long only 1 or 2.

If you could add this I would be extremely grateful. Thanks for your great work!

The author calls this, with admirable modesty, "another" RSVP reader. As a matter of fact, this little addon seems clearly superior to the older application, which is extremely valuable in itself.

It's quite nice that we get an independent window here and can customize the text's appearance so well. I hope that the developer will keep maintaining this from time to time. It's definitely worth it.

@ShadowBottl: How do I "force" the installation of this plugin in FF 3.6?
