Problems (gone) Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
[EDIT] 220.127.116.11 fixed my issue!
this was a great extension, and will probably be still after some of the newly introduced bugs are tracked down. one thing is for sure, something got messed up. i`ve been meaning to come here and look for several weeks but haven't had the time. my problem was when i'd MIDDLE click on a pdf listing in google, the "requester" would come up asking me what i wanted to do, but at the same time it would OPEN the PDF in another tab even thou i never choose a selection. (after viewing the pdf and trying to close the tab firefox would freeze up until i killed acrobat using process explorer, not blaming this on PDF Download, this is actually the behavior that made me want to use it in the 1st place). as i usually do when an update "breaks" i reverted (follwing the fellas suggestion of going back to 0.9.3.2). everything is nowv "jake" again.
if you revert and don`t want to be hounded about updating it via auto-update, try this:
(i have winzip, adapt accordingly) download 0.9.3.2.xpi (open it, rename it .zip if you have to), edit the install.rdf change 0.9.3.2 to 18.104.22.168 and save (change it back to .xpi if you renamed it). now install, you won`t get any update notifications now. I'll come back in a couple weeks to see if there`s been progress if so try a new version then, in the meantime i`m good.
Solved in 22.214.171.124
thanks a lot for your bug report: this is the kind of comments I would like to get from users (with useful explanation of the problems and not with useless "don't work" comments). However, for the next time I would suggest to use the official PDF Download Forum (http://www.pdfdownload.org/forum) so I could keep track of the problems and users could easily search for old posts.
I solved the problem in PDF Download 126.96.36.199.
Conflict with NoScript?? Noch nicht bewertet
I must say I've always welcomed FF and all these nifty extensions that make it unique, as it will be able to tailor it exactly the way you like it. One of those nice extension has been PDF Download, which I've been using for a long time and always appreciated its simple but very useful interface. But ever since my system upgraded (not sure since which version) the PDF DL extension, every time I follow a link to a remote PDF document, and select "open PDF" from the pop-up interface, it opens a new page as usual BUT the document won't open at all unless I allow (temporarily) scripts for the originating site. This is a big F---ckn pain in the ass, and definitively has to do with the newer releases of PDF DL. Not sure why do I have to allow every single site from which I want to view a PDF, but I just now got fed up with this sh---t and installed an older release of PDF DL (v0.9.3.2: 2007-11-01) which seems to have fixed the stupid behavior. I suggest anyone else having this problem should install this older version, and refrain from any future upgrading - unless they fix the problem in a new release.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (188.8.131.52) abgegeben.
It's NoScript fault
the problem is due to NoScript settings. As you can read here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/reviews/display/722) people already complained about this (on 30 December). Here it is what they said and the answer from NoScript developer:
NoScript was certainly the greatest Firefox add-on. No contest. I'm therefore really sorry that I have to say that with version 184.108.40.206 (plugins disabled by default for unknown sites) it became more of a PITA. Apart from HTML, PDF is my most used filetype, and now they're all blocked by default.
Suggestion: why not allow adding filetypes like "*.pdf" to whitelist? Surely would get the rating back to 10 out of 10.
In the meantime I went back to version 1.1.9.
"Steven, you could just uncheck "NoScript Options|Plugins|Forbid other plugins".
However a file type whitelist for that options, similar to your suggestion, was already planned."

All my excitement faded away when none of these 'great' softwares were compatible on Linux: FF, Foxit and PDF Download.
Finally managed to get PDF Download latest version to work somehow, but that pos takes you away to a distant website where they open the pdf u request in a frame ??!! This is crap. How come no one is complaining ??
Its a sad world when good products get eaten up by greedy corporations...at least they can be greedy while not F&(^#@ing up the software.
And their older versions dont even work..so it is back to adobe, who at least provide a quality product, but didnt have the foresight to give a lightweight product. hate software that needs tweaking to actually be liked.
As for Foxit, why the hell are they touting themselves as free, use me, when they cant even get it working on Linux as a plugin ? Heck it doesnt even work from outside within Firefox. If you can tout yourselved as being a 'replacement' for Adobe, at least do it properly instead of depending on some 3rd party product like this pos.
was geat; won't work now Noch nicht bewertet
won't work since update to 220.127.116.11 FF browser update, & since theses new nitro owners. Used to be 1 of the 1st add-ons i would install & i'd tell everyone to do so also (along w./ noscript, IE Tab [IE View/ie view Lite seem not to work at all, or i am clueless?], Forecastfox, Fasterfox, & session mgr, though i did like 'lil 'ol session saver better, if only they could've kept up]. Has no one heard anything on this? I even tried checking for correct placement of the plug-in & installed the seemingly uneless adobe acrobat upgrade 8.1.1 [from 8.1.0], but to no avail, and re-installing the pdf download add-on. I WOULD consider reverting to a less-secure browser version to have pdf-to-html functionality, but i am not sure i would know where to download it, and go thru' all the hassle of adding-on extensions again. Urff. Ugggh. I miss it. This REALLY should be incorporated into the next FF release.
[Adobe is getting to big for its pants, after quiring macromedia].
Nitro Options Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternen
I think all users of Firefox should *refuse* to use branded extensions. Commercialization usually ruins a good product or extension. Image if Firefox itself was branded by Microsoft.
I absolutely *HATE IT* when people make extensions only to hand them over to companies who have no interest in maintaining them. These companies want *YOU* to buy their flagship product.
I am currently developing a non-branded PDF view/save extension. I want to send a message to the corporate world that we are *NOT* interested in their branded extensions for an open-source project such as Firefox.
PDF Download remains FREE and OPEN SOURCE!
I just want to clarify that in the version 18.104.22.168 (the one after the Nitro acquisition) there was NO change in the code apart from the option window (as you can see from the change log). PDF Downlaod is and will still be FREE and OPEN SOURCE (you can read the press release here: http://www.nitropdf.com/corporate/PR/pr_201207.htm).
The big first advantage that Nitro brought to PDF Download users is related to the PDF to HTML conversion feature: now it is much faster and stable.

This little add-on has ended months of frustration with the USPS.com website! Thank you! I can now download the labels I pay for without being charged for all the times the website hangs up when trying to print labels and the hassle of trying to get refunds for all those errors. Thanks for this great add-on! Works perfect!Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (126.96.36.199) abgegeben.
Thanks, but no thanks Bewertet mit 2 von 5 Sternen
This add-on used to be pretty good, but nowadays it just has 3rd party pdf program ads everywhere. Uninstalled my copy today, thanks for the past times, though.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (188.8.131.52) abgegeben.

i have been boggled and sad about the lack of PDF functionality in firefox. my favorite browser. I cannot compute how such a well-designed browser does not allow me to edit a PDF setting in the content part of preferences nor detect other PDF reading apps, so you have saved me from completely losing it. This is a better tool than I even hoped.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (0.9.3.2) abgegeben.
Perfect Extension! Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
Just like everything else that made for firefox, either by third party or mozilla themselves, this extension makes browsing the web that much better.
WONDERFUL! Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
Helps you to surf the net faster, and not to open pdf files while you are surfing. A quick dialog window asks you what you want to do, already showing a size of the pdf file. You decide. I RECOMMEND THIS ADD-ON. EXCELLENT FOR STUDENTS!Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (0.9.3.2) abgegeben.
Great Idea vs ??Functionality?? Bewertet mit 2 von 5 Sternen
Good idea but when I open as html it takes a little longer and the quality is often poor or unreadable. One pdf was flipped 90 degrees and illegible. Could this be because I just dloaded browser 184.108.40.206?Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (0.9.3.2) abgegeben.
Fantastic Extension Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen
Prior to getting this add-on, I would often click on a hyperlink only to have Firefox grind to a near halt while Acrobat loaded up and a PDF file was downloaded (how was I to realize that the url was going to be pointing to a PDF file). Thanks to this add-on, I now get a nice pop-up window asking me what I want to do. Fantastic extension.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (0.9.3.2) abgegeben.
Useful but.. Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen
Great tool. You should add a "Download and Open PDF" button. So I can choose where to save the PDF instead of saving it to some temporary folder.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (0.9.3.1) abgegeben.
Great solution to my PDF problems! Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen
I think this is great, because 99% of the time I don't want to open PDF files because they take so long to load. Now I'll get a message before opening the file so I'll be able to cancel the action.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (0.9.3.1) abgegeben.

This is a great little add-on that now allows my Mac to do the one thing that still made me nostalgic for my old Windows machine. A ton of my work involves viewing/reading pdfs on line and I hated always having to download them (messy desktop) and view them through Acrobat (eternal boot lag). Great job and thanks a million.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (0.9.3.1) abgegeben.
