Very useful but it interfere with my url tags. Instead of going to the page, it goes to google search.
You may choose to disable the default search option.
You should disable the "default search" option if you want to use your bookmark keywords/tags or other location bar related addons. You will find the option to "disable default" when you click on the search engine/magnifier icon in the location bar.
The new version of this addon is fantastic. It makes searching faster. It is clean and unobtrusive.
It is a lot like the Google Chrome in its operations. (If you liked how Chrome handles search, you'll love this addon.) In fact it beats Chrome in a couple of ways:
1. It allows me to use multiple search engines in one go. This is huge. I have discovered that, besides being fun, using multiple search engines is really useful and gets me faster to what I am really looking for.
2. Specifying the search engines is super easy. Just type the first few characters of the engine names, and it figures out the rest. You don't have to remember the exact nicknames or keywords assigned to the search engines. For example, I just type "@g,y,a" at the end of my search phrase to get results from google, yahoo and answers.
I do longer need the dedicated search box on my address bar, which has freed up some space on my browser. Nice! (I wish this addon hid the search box automatically rather me having to do that manually. But that, I guess, is a personal choice.)
Overall, I love it. Thank you Firefox, for being extensible!
I like the overall functionality of this add-on. One enhancement would make it better. When I type the first few letters of a website address, the first result should be from my history and then the search option should come up. Currently, the search option comes up first when i type more than two characters from the address.
I really like this add-on; I do searches often and I love its capacity to search many engines at once. I've been able to get rid of the search bar and the three add-ons I was using with the search bar. I love that it adds an ability to manage my search engines right from the location bar. Omnibar has really streamlined my browsing experience.
Additionally, the developer is very responsive to correspondence, and the add-on keeps improving.
Two thumbs up!
Please add ability to use search engine keywords.
An excellent plugin that really adds some value to the Firefox toolbar. It has a good selection of search engines and allows me to find the top results, as well as contextual information, for my search term.
A few annoyances, the "Edit Search Engine's doesn't work yet - it would be nice if it tied into the search engines already added in my install of firefox.
Also, as it opens new tabs for all search results except google - it opens in the current tab, if you press the back button it just opens a whole new set of the same search results which ended up in me having lots of tabs.
I'm sure both of these will be resolved soon though.
Overall, this is an excellent plugin and has a lot of potential!
This is an amazing extension!!!
Very well done!!!
For what they're planing for FF3.1 awesome bar, this is a LOT better. It has the icons of the search engine just like the traditional searchbox and all the other shortcuts...
I can say no-one is going to loose anything by installing omnibar. It does exactly everything the traditional search box does, PLUS it allows you to search on multiple search engines at the same time, free's you useless browser space and lets you use your firefox location bar in a easy way like never before
Install it - You won't loose anything and once you get use to it... you won't be able to leave it! It's completely intuitive!
