- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Alice, vor 12 StundenWelp, here we are.
"he rise of generative AI has made it more challenging to sustainably monetize our offering".
translation: "due to the server costs of running AI in our spellchecker we will start charging money for it".
Drop AI and the server costs will instantly become more manageable, I imagine.
To be clear, I'm not against a developer charging for their product - I am against developers jumping on a fad bandwagon and then crying about it. You're running a SPELLCHECKER, guys, you don’t need AI to run a dictionary search.
But now we can have "AI POWERED PARAPHRASING" How, oh how did the product even operate before the blessing of AI???
I just cannot treat this seriously, sorry, Word processor had this running smoothly 15 years ago, catch up! - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Skin55, vor 15 StundenHave loved using this app for a few years now. Now, out of nowhere, it's added Ai and now is behind a paywall. Go F yourself.
- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon funderburg, vor 20 StundenPulled the usual bait-and-switch requiring payment for it to work it all. Uninstalling.

- Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon Retro2201, vor 3 TagenReally helps when communicating in a language that you're not 100% fluent.
The premium is expensive, but then it's not just a web browser extension; you can use it in countless apps, so for me it was a good deal at the time. I bought the 2 year one for around 80€.
- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon George, vor 4 TagenThis addon worked great until the premium tier became required.

- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Matrix_Cracker, vor 7 TagenSorry - this is the badest move you can make. Telling AI ist ramping up the costs ist really a bad one and -in two- really not true. There are a lot of good examples out there how it's done. Without harming privacy anyways. And the pricetag is much to high. As a user of the premium subscription this makes me cancel that subscription anyway, because I was in belive supporting all the free (Plug-In)-Users with the high pricetag to the desktop version.

- Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon anitabueckler, vor 8 TagenJust use v9.0.1 and the add-on works again as it should. The dictionaries are included, that why it's about 15MB. Or we could simply edit the xpi (which is a ZIP) to fix the latest version. ;)
- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon juntra, vor 8 TagenJeez, forcing a premium subscription to use the extension. I switched over to this from grammarly because it became AI slop filled, but now this extension has done the same and is removing the free tier because of it. AI is expensive, harms the environment, and generally isn't worth the costs. Remove the AI features and return the free tier, you'll get way more users by doing that.
- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon deo, vor 8 TagenUsed to be good, considering the free tier. Now only for premium subscribers. The developers should explicitly state this information upfront in the first lines of the extension description, allowing users to avoid spending time installing it and then uninstalling it a couple of minutes later.
- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Mark, vor 8 TagenNow asking for money for something which can be obtained for free or lower cost. Just because you dump in "AI" features that no-one asks for you can't then to try and use this to justify a "premium" price.
This move never works. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon toohehimforthem, vor 9 TagenUsed to be free for a long time, but has started asking for a premium subscription just to use it at all. I'm disabled and was using it to spell check but I can't afford this. I guess its back to mixed up words now if I'm not having a very efficient day with fighting it.
- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Clueingforbeggs, vor 9 TagenThey got rid of their free tier, forcing users to pay for features they clearly do not want to use (and it's obvious they know this, because they're advertising it as an upgrade to premium, despite the fact that the cost of running premium is why they're doing this), just because those features were too expensive for the people who actually want to use them.
