Too Many Issues Bewertet mit 2 von 5 Sternen

At first I really like this add-on and still do, but ever since using it there just have been problems over time such as the channel list not auto-updating and multiple times when updating the add-on it deletes the channels I follow. And now it has done it again. It just too much of a hassle doing this every few months.

I sadly let through a bug every now and then (like auto update being unreliable), but it should never've just delted the channels, unless the database was corrupted (which is either Firefox crashing or something similar going wrong). However I do feel like the past few updates have been way more stable (yes, the last update had some very quick patches until everything worked again). Further I am surprised that you just got an update, since the last update has been long ago.

How do you add a user from DouyuTV to the channel list? The number in the URL will not work at all.

Thank you for the tip, apparently the DouyuTV API changed. I don't really follow DouyuTV, because I don't understand anything on it (other than basic visual language) and because I have thus not found where such announcements would be made.

This is a fantastic addon, now one of the ones I can't live without. I can pretty much always rely on this to work and notify me right when a stream starts.

I do have one issue: the notification that pops up completely obscures the chatbox where you type on Twitch for me. It would be nice if there were a way (unless there is and I just don't know about it) to change the location of the popup and possibly the duration of how long before it fades as well.

Nice to hear that it works like it should :)

Sadly I cannot control where notifications show up, that's something that differs from operating system to operating system, and if configurable is decided by Firefox. I don't think there's any way as an extension showing a notification to give a hint where it should be shown.

Actually really handy but.. Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

To me its a super handy tool cause im shit at keeping track of when people i want to watch does stream, though the main reason why im giving it a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because adding youtube channels does not seem to work. Well, either it doesnt work or im doing it wrong.

The problem with youtube is that there are many ways to refer to a channel and it can sometimes be pretty complicated to figure out the one the extensions looks for, as explained on it takes the username in the URL. However there are like four different URL formats for channels. But it essentially isn't the name you see directly under videos and not the weird combination of letters and numbers, though I'm looking into also supporting adding by ID so all channels can be added, not just ones with an URL slug. If you have more questions, please contact me over one of the channels listed here:

really good!! Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

really good addon easy to use and many features, but after awhile if you put a short update interval like 5 or 10 it will slow down firefox and will start to lag firefox, if I disable this addon it doesnt lag for me... I have an i7 and 8 gb ram, tried this addon on firefox 84x, waterfox and nightly all do the same...
EDIT: I didnt know that about the twitch API thanks for the reply very helpful amazing developer!! :D

I tried to reproduce this with around 40 channels from mixed providers in the latest development version (an older development version is available on btw) and did notice a memory leak in the update queue. I'm investigating if I can do anything about it, or at least avoid it as much as possible.

Further each update will trigger an update to the panel, so updating this often will lead to constant update to the panel, which slows Firefox no matter what.

I also want to note that depending on the providers you're using and amount of channels such a small interval does not make sense. For example for twitch all channels are updated at once and the twitch API only updates the status of channels about every minute. On the other hand for youtube there is one request per channel, so if there are many youtube channels having an interval like 5 or 10 might make sense. The reason the extension doesn't update everything at once is to spread out the load on the APIs. If you send me details of the channels you have in your list to I can help you optimize the preferences for your queue (including the hidden settings).

It really is a great addon, the best out there for notifying you of live streams.
I did read your reply about the sound notification though and I don't really care if there would be two sounds playing at once, Is it possible to make that an option anyway? I just want to be notified I don't care how it sounds.

Notification Sounds 2

First of all, thank you for the review :)
As I've stated before I don't want to incorporate this into the extension. I've decided to create such an add-on myself, since I haven't been able to find one so far. You can try it out on

I'm also adding the link to it in many relevant places like this add-on's description or the FAQ on the website.

Does what it promises, the notifications for the streams that I listed in the settings pop up reliable.

However, this addon also displays notifications for about 20 other twitch streams which I don't care about. I am not sure if these streams are the developer's recommendations, but since this is really annoying I'll give this addon only 4/5.

Edit: "Auto detect" is unchecked and I've tried to disable and enable the extension, the wrong notifications still pop up.

Edit2: I've got no about:config values which are called this way. Additionally, I've no Idea where you are gathering the bug reports.

Anyway, I recommend this other addon to every other user who has the same problem, since this one just displays the notifcations of the manually added channels (as it should):

Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons ( abgegeben.

There shouldn't be any other channels observed other than the ones you entered. Do you have "Auto detect" checked? If so, maybe you have the credentials of a twitch account saved, which follows those channels.
If they still popup after disabling the option, try disabling and reenabling the extension.

Edit: Interesting... I am not sure if you'll get a notification for this edit, but I have no other means of helping you, since you decided to report a bug in a review, which isn't optimal...
The only way I could think off, that other channels would get into that list, is if you stillhad values in the about:config preferences justintvchannelList or justintvusernameList, which would be imported (but the imported values should be displayed in the settings). Genereally I'd expect these channels coming from some user's favorites, but it's pretty hard to tell just from the symptoms. The next (big) update should resolve such issues. Feel free to contact me at any time on !

It's good, but it needs a sound notification. Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

This plugin is really good, and extremely helpful. The only problem I have with it is that you'll miss streams if you're not always looking at the browser. An optional sound cue would be very, very helpful for catching streams.

Notification Sounds

I haven't replied to this so far because I've already addressed the idea of a notification sound in a response to an earlier review. However it is only fair to repeat my reasonning why I will not add such a feature to the extension.

The main reason is, that firefox tries to use the operating system's native notification system if possible. So it integrates with libnotify implementations that allow click actions on linux and the notification center on Mac OS X and I'm sure it will use the upcoming notification system in Windows 10, which was previously only available for modern UI apps. Most of these "native" notification systems use a sound by default. Sadly the API I'm using to play a notification doesn't allow me to override such a sound, so you'd get two sounds. Further I believe that a sound played upon a notification is the business of the operating system, since it knows (in most cases) when the user is notified. Now sometimes Firefox handles notification itself, but filtering for that case would be complex, and over all out of scope for this extension. I don't know if there are extensions for Firefox, that play a notification sound whenever a notification is displayed, however such an extension would be trivial to create and makes much more sense, as a user would only install it, if their notification system didn't play sounds but they'd like it to.

EDIT: See for an extension that plays a sound whenever a notification is displayed.

I like how I can see a list of people I follow even though they're offline and how it sends me directly to the vods.

nice Add-on genau was ich gesucht habe.

not quite there Bewertet mit 2 von 5 Sternen

like the last reviewer said, random streams keep popping up for me. it was a minor annoyance at first but then it stopped displaying the streams that I actually follow.

For anyone having trouble with it auto-detecting your login information -- log out and log back in again on the site after you've installed this extension.

I'll try this addon again in the future to see if the bugs have been worked out and give another review but at this point it's just not there yet for my needs.

Should be fixed now

Thanks to MVNRS on GitHub I was able to isolate the issue and fix the bug. The version isn't fully reviewed by mozilla yet, but you can download it here: .
If you still miss something or something is weird for you, don't heasitate to contact me, open an issue on github etc.

Nice, But Faulty Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

Perhaps it may be because I use it primarily for Twitch but I have a few issues. 1: It gives me a list of a ton of other users I did not put in to follow (But I do like this because it allowed me to find some interesting streamers) and 2: It has a huge problem with not ever bringing up the notification that someone I follow is live and doesn't show some of my list that I know is live, as live.

only works 10% of the time. total crap

If you could be a little more specific about what doesn't work, I could possibly improove the extension. It's quite hard for me, who uses it regularily sucessfull, to determine, what the 90% of time are, when it doesn't work for you.

I look forward to improove the extension, so it works for everybody!

Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternen

Well I was originally really looking forward to this add-on. But then was completely disappointed when nothing on the addon worked at all.

I have tried using channels, and users, and automatic detection and not a single one caused the addon to detect anything. Even tried channels I knew were online and tried manually refreshing it. Tried every option the addon provided and regardless of that it would always just claim every channel was offline even when they were online.

I'm very sorryabout this

Sadly the extension is currebtly broken a lot, since the API is having issues. I am working on a version which will fix the cases I can do something about it.

Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

works well, but all my followed streams show up as undefined so i cant tell who it is until i click on it. also, a way to hide offline streams would be nice.

Should already be possible

You should already see a little arrow pointing to the top at the bottom of the panel. If you click it, it hides the list of offline channels.
The issue with the undefined names should be solved best possible with the next update.

Useful plugin Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

Previously I had problems with the "channels" field. However, after reading the response below I tried removing all stream IDs (17 streams) and then just entering a few. This worked, so I tried adding back all... which also worked! I don't know if the previous misshaps were because of some old version or whatnot, but after reentering the streams it seemlingly works just fine. Thanks for the response and for a very useful plugin!
Edit: Aww.. stopped working again. It seems that it stops working on a browser restart, which requires you to empty the "channels" field and fill it again.
Edit2: i can't get it to succeed/fail consistently :/ I'll just have to investigate a bit more.

HiThis is very concerning to me. It works solidly for me. A possible cause for the instability for you I could see would be the number of streams it is observing. I am thinking of optimizations in this section. I'd appreciate a quick feedback of how many channels you gave the extension to check.
Edit: Hm, that's strange. If you get any error output related to the extension (the message contains justintv-stream-notifications) in the error console (ctrl+shift+j), I'd appreciate to see it!

Good but needs work Bewertet mit 2 von 5 Sternen

It works, don't get me wrong. I like that I can finally use Firefox as a browser over Chrome. Yet, the add-on doesn't update in the 30 seconds it says it does (and I know that people are long done with streaming). Also, username detection is a bit flawed, probably in regards to the add-on having been primarily a live notifier and not a one. The app is good, but not in five-star territory just yet.One more thing: it would be cool to be able to decide how long the notification box stays visible. I'm always frustrated in seeing the box in the corner of my eye, but missing who just went live because it's gone 3-5 seconds later.

Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you for writing a nuanced review, what your current issues with the add-on are. The issues with streams not being marked as offline can have two causes: either you already used up your API contingent or the extension is still trying to fetch information for the channel.
The issue with the auto detection can have the same causes or the add-on can't get your username from the passwords database.

Sadly I can't control notifications at all, since I use the notifications of firefox in order to offer the best possible experience on each system (see the documentation:

Very Nice Addon. Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

Works very well, but it would be nice if it showed the stream titles (in the toolbar button) instead the streamer account name so i can see what the streamer is doing, thanks.

I know, that it would be nice to see the stream title aswell. However replacing the channel name with it is no solution for me, since the channel icon is not big enought to be a clear distinction between channels. I tried tooltips, however they don't work in panels. I think, displaying further information on hover would be the best option. If you have suggestions how to implement this, or something else you want to let me know, contact me at . I would really like to solve this issue for you.
