When there is too many notifications from imo.im Firefox hangs.
... Is it possible to get a bigger window, the ability to change the size of the notification window, or possibly have the text scroll so you can see longer messages?
Really really cool addon. It really tricks Gmail to detect HTML5 notifier as it does in Chrome. Can it work for Twitter.com new tweets also? Probably not unless Twitter has HTML5 notification built-in.
Thank you for your support ! Indeed, it has to be twitter job... or yours with a new extension "Twitter Notifications" ;)
Extremely useful... this should be included by default on Firerox. Has Mozilla expressed such desire to the developer of this wonderful addon?
Just for existing and working well it deserves 5 stars. It's not perfect but it's on the right track. It's even better than the official implementation on Chrome/Chromium. For example, if you click on a notification it will switch to the tab that generated it, that's a wonderful and desirable behavior that I still haven't seen on Chrome/Chromium.
Keep the good work...
I just discovered about this addon and I'm so happy I found it! I was really missing that functionality from Chrome. Works great on MacOS AND Linux.
In Ubuntu, it works even better than Chrome notifications, cause this extension uses the default Libnotify system and integrates better with the desktop.
I'm always using this addon to have GTalk notifications when i'm not in Gmail tab. I verified the official link to this addon and i see that there is a new update: http://code.google.com/p/ff-html5notifications/
Please update it to this one 1.0.4(not 1.03). Thank you very much.
I was glad to see this notification add-on in firefox. In chrome on Ubuntu, the gmail calendar event notification stays up until acknowledged. That is good because I will not miss the calendar
invite if i'm not looking at the screen at the time of the notification. Could this feature be added for calendar event notifications? Thanks.
Just what I was looking for, but with one major caveat -- your add-on doesn't support onclick handlers, which, while technically not part of the specification, are available for use in Chrome (and are required by my application). Resolve this, and I'll gladly upgrade my rating to five stars.
Two other issues I found: "Notifications" is misspelled in the title of the settings dialog, and the permissions box doesn't stretch vertically when the window is resized.
This is a very nice addon and I appreciate the efforts of this project as the only thing that Chrome has that FF doesn't is this. The function of this addon is actually better looking than chrome because it blends with the OS notification system...at least it does on Linux. However the problem with this addon is that eventually it stops working. When you first start the addon or first start the browser the notifications work GREAT but after a little time the notifications just stop even if you go to a site that has demos where you can test it by forcing the notifications to show.
*Using Firefox 6.0.2 on Ubuntu 10.10
Great! This is what is great about Firefox: add-ons. I won't have envy of chrome desktop notifications now.
Makes Firefox hang when attempting to reply to messages in Gmail. Replying works find with this extension disabled.
I've been working on a workaround to finaly achieve with a new version available at code.google.com/p/ff-html5notifications/issues/detail?id=10#c5
Does it still hang ?
Sweet! That's what was missing!
I had a problem with this when i first installed it (maybe an earlier version), but now works very well! Absolutely amazing addon... the desktop notification for gchat used to be the only reason i would use chrome
Actually, it does work with Gmail. User error. Thank you for this add-on!
Great! This sort of thing needs to be implemented in Firefox from the start. Bit disappointing that I can't click on the notification to take me to the page, but I can't fault the plugin for that as it's a limitation of my OS's notification system. Great plugin though.
It seems there is a conflict with Firebug: it does'nt work at all if HTML Notifications is installed.
Indeed. It has been fixed for new version, but mozilla validation takes some time. You might download an updated version at the project website http://code.google.com/p/ff-html5notifications/
Agree with other posters, needs more features like speed, auto hide, tab focus. But glad to have this basic functionality. I'm done with chrome now.
Awesome, does exactly what it should (using ubuntu 10.10)
It should be incorporated into firefox :D
Firefox 4.0, when combined with Ad Block Plus it makes the bar that I said in the last review.
It is a bar that you can drag and change the width. But it fill a ~5px space in the bottom of the screen always.
Personally, I think the toolbar (Ignore Option from __________.com) should be on the top of the notification, not on the bottom. I also don't like the animation of it peeking up - a bit too slow to really be useful in GChat. Finally, it would be nice if, when I clicked the notification, it brought the focus to the tab that originated the notification, instead of closing it. You can include a close button instead. All in all though, thanks very much! Very appreciated!
Pretty ugly up to now, but it works.
A Timeout for closing the Notification automatically would be nice
Works as expected under Ubuntu using native notification system. Tested on Gmail, both chat and mail. Great job.
