  • These firefox 3 themes need to be updated for the newer versions.
  • Well for what its worth this extension will work up to & including FF 28, all it needs is a max version tweak to the install.rdf file that's contained within the .xpi file.
  • work well with ff22. Keep up a good job.
  • Even if you're able to use the skin now, with each new release it becomes less and less functional.

    I want to keep using it, but now bookmark menus, URL menus and right-click menus randomly don't physically appear when they're activated, and it's a real pain to work through it.

    Nobody has so much as tried to create a replacement nor something similar to this skin, and it pains me to see it growing less and less stable to the point I won't be able to use it anymore.
  • Best theme ver. Please, update it. Firefox don't remove the tabs on bottom...
  • I updated the add-on to work with FF16 by downloading it first, using right click > save as and then editing the maxVersion as described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Editing_an_add-on_to_change_its_compatibility Increase the value for maxVersion to f.i. 19 as others have already written. I have found that I have to install the adapted add on after updating FF to version 16. When I did it before the FF update, I still got the incompatibility error. The add-on can be installed by opening it in FF or simply dragging the xpi file to FF.

    If you have lost the option Tabs on bottom, you can make that option available again by following the instructions on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/put-tabs-back-on-bottom.

    So far I have found that the add on does not work perfectly anymore in FF16. If I click f.i. the green area in the address bar if there is a certificate for an HTTPS connection, the text balloon is now transparent instead of solid. The same happens when clicking the bookmark star in the address bar. This is not a big issue for me, so I’ll keep using the FF3 theme in FF16.

    I have given this add on a 5 star rating before and have already given a donation to the maker, Jeremy Morton to thank him for his good work. If the add on is maintained again, Jeremy, I promise I will give you another donation. Hopefully Mozilla decides to keep “Tabs on bottom” alive. If Mozilla does decide to eliminate it though, I hope the "Tabs on bottom" add on (which is in the making by Brandon Cheng, as I read on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=755593) will be sufficient to keep the FF3 theme alive.

    For now, I urge everybody who is dissatisfied with the possible demise of Tabs on bottom and therefore this add on to post a comment on https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/mozilla.dev.apps.firefox.
  • I downloaded the file from the link Karl posted & then followed what this link told me to do & I opened/viewed the archive within a program like Winzip (not unzipped it) & viewed it within wordpad & changed the maxVersion number listed under Firefox to what you want (ex: maxVersion="19.0a1) then I saved it... instead of saving it as a .txt save it as install.rdf on your desktop then drag & drop the new file from your desktop into the old xpi file that you are viewing within winzip & it should replace the old file with the new one.. then just drag the xpi file into the open browser & tada .. it's quite easy if you follow the instructions!!! It worked for me though I still wish this addon would be updated for later versions..

    This option I noticed doesn't give me the warning that addon compatibly check is disabled..

    NOTE in the example... I put maxVersion="19.0a1 incase Mozilla updates to 19 in the future.. so I don't have to constantly update the XPI file :)

    Even though I think this is a thunderbird addon, it worked for me in FireFox where Enabling 'Nightly Tester Tools' and disabling 'Addon Compatibility Checker' addons failed.
  • Please adapt Firefox 3 Aero theme for Firefox 4+ for Firefox 16
  • please adapt the old settings layout for FireFox 15!

    **But**, it would be REALLY nice to have the menu bar and tool bar use the OS color, so that it has the icons, but not the blue gradient background.

    **Please** consider an alternate version of this theme with OS toolbar and menubar background! :)
  • Very nice, much better than new FF14 skins
  • The shift in color. Icon next to "Close"
    Using Windows 8 Build 8400. Browser: Aurora Firefox.
    Please change this, but it is not accurate and not nice.

  • No transparency when maximized, captions only.
  • Very clean, nice looking, and functional, just like the original Aero.

    Thanks for your hard work!
  • Can you please solve all the problems which occur when using this theme under Firefox 15 nightly , such as :
    * Identity buttons
    * Conditional Forward button
    * New tab page
    * New Download Manager
    * Tabbar height when using tabs on top in maximized window

    Thank you :)
  • (There isn't a way to post it as comments, hence this new review)
    Thanks Jeremy.
  • Thank you! I don't know how they managed it, but the new default Windows Aero theme for FF is even uglier than the old default GTK theme.

    If Mozilla are going to force me to use Firefox 10 ESR by discontinuing 3.6, than at least I will now be spared having transparency all over my menu bar.

    EDIT: I like Aero, I just think that transparency belongs in the background - effects, transitions, background windows, borders and title bars. Transparency on active windows is just distracting and annoying. Modern UI designers are so obsessed with shiny they forget the basics.
  • THANKS!!!
  • Really like this theme. I have a problem though. He won't show me the buttons on the top, and I really don't like the ones from FF 9 :( Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
    But if it weren't for this theme, I'd still use Firefox 3, so thanks!

    (Sorry I'm from Germany..) I mean the buttons next to the bar, where you can insert the url. These are still the buttons from Firefox 9.
    I don't quite understand what you mean by "the buttons on the top" here.
  • Not a bad add-on at all; it works quite nicely. The only complaint I have is that it does not like to work with personas, at least with my experience. I love my Firefox 3 look, but I need that Fox Vortex persona as well! :-D
  • Would love to see a version of this that only affected the toolbar buttons only. I miss the 3 aero buttons, but I like having my browser transparent via css tweaks. ;)
  • Thanks. Five stars. This theme is very comfortable for my eyes.

    P.S.: Palette for addons toolbar (Ctrl-\) not changed...
    With regards to the palette for the addons toolbar - the closest thing to this in Firefox 3 was the status bar, and its palette was not the same as the blueish toolbar palette in Aero, so I made the decision on purpose to leave that palette alone.
  • great work, but it could be cool have this theme with aero activated. like the default theme, but with the ff3 buttons.
  • Great, I can finally migrate from Firefox 3. Works great on 5 and I have blue buttons on my Mac Mozilla now (speaking as an old aqua liker).
