This is one of the best web development tools ever. Don't design a site without this installed!
Running Firefox 3.0 and have never had the stability problems I did since adding Firebug. Once I removed it, it was all good.
I've just installed it in FF3. Did a little testing and seems to work great.
I love this. Its in my top 3 addons.
when could it be compatible with latest firefox 3.0.5
This is a godsend for web designers. I got it yesterday and it has already helped me fix several annoying errors I simply couldn't figure out otherwise. I couldn't ask for anything more out of this wonderful add-on!
For me firebug is the most useful web development tool.
without firebug i would need twice the time for developing ajax stuff. my issue is that the plugin worsen with every version. Current version slows down the hole surf experience. While developing websites i am facing long waiting times i didnt had with older versions of firebug. Also the plugin does not feel very reliable anymore. For example the net console is not working most of the time. Instead of ever and anon enabling and disabling the plugin i am simply using a different borwser(galeon) for fun surfing. Thats a pity. It allready was quite perfect. Here and now i am voting for less features and better performance. Thanks anyway it is still great.
I am very happy about this plugin, because without it i am facing many problem in compiling my blog www.lattest.co.cc
1. Most importantly: One of the most useful extensions available for Firefox, for a web developer it might as well be considered part of the browser. From validating code for my own pages to creating and modifying userscripts to just learning about how pages are designed, anyone could get immersed in the benefits of this application.
2. The current issue: Version 1.3.0 seems to be incompatible with mail.google.com (I have found the following results in current and 'older version' of gmail, both http and https served pages).
Details: What happens when loading gmail is a severe hangtime, on average about 30-60 seconds. Not only does the loading of gmail hang, but while any tab or window has this site open, all other browsing is brought to a crawl.
My Fix: Instead of disabling features on that particular site, I decided to rollback my version of Firebug to 1.2.0. After doing this, everything seems to be working as should.
I have tested the addon installed by itself and with a slew of other extensions, and the results are the same:
1.3.0 + gmail = surf of death
1.2.0 + www = priceless
So, that being said - I hope we have provided some time-saving reading material for others who are experiencing the same issue.
This is a must-have extension for many people, I am eager to see how further developments pan out.
Many thanks to Joe Hewitt and the contributors for providing Firebug, It's been a great tool that I could hardly imagine doing without.
I use console.log all the time which is great, but it fails very often in 1.3. I have to enable and disable the site and then it will work for some time.
So be careful and download the older version (it has other problems, but console.log works)
I don't know what happened, but I'm getting all kinds of weird Console errors since I upgraded to 1.3.0. I love Firebug, but I need to it work. I'd wait to upgrade to 1.3.x until the next release.
i can't live without it!!!
Totally deserves 5 stars. A must-have for any serious web developer/designer.
Have used this for a long time for development. Also a brilliant tool called YSlow from yahoo, great for seeing why a page is loading so slowly!
Cant leave without it. a "must have" extension if you do web design
Can't work without it! :)
Per gli sviluppatori. Mai più sensa.
firebug is GREAT!
i could get my favorite images form Flash based web sites ...
What's not to like? Extremely useful for web developing!!
Currently, however, it is extremely problematic for me. It uses up way too much memory — with my usual session (5-15 tabs over one or two windows; usually towards 5), it takes up way too much memory — for the 15-tab case, 200 MB more in physical memory (yes, there's another margin of different in the pagefile!). It also tends to hang Firefox for up to 30s on page-load with 100% CPU usage. Given that this only began occurring on the last Firebug update (I think), and that this last update removed the visible featuring of turning Firebug on and off generally or for specific sites, I suspect this usage may be related to that. [I suppose that'd be more useful in a bug report, though.]
I'm still giving it a 4/5 since it always worked well for me before, I haven't tried the 1.3β yet but hopefully this should be fixed soon.
My solution, for now, is to keep a separate profile for web debugging and a shortcut with the options "-no-remote -profile " to open up a new instance in that profile when needed.
