This extension seems to conflict in some way with the private browsing mode (see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=496579). I have not looked into the details, but I suspect that it is because we clear the find bar when the private browsing mode is turned off.
This works fine for me with Palemoon 25.1.0 (64bit) and Firefox 33.0.2 (32bit). In Firefox, the red background for no finds is gone, but it still plays a sound... a small price to save typing. I use a ton of add-ons, including other Findbar enhancements, with no probs on either, except for one minor issue... the entries don't save, after a browser restart. I assume they're suppose to from the "keep entries" option, but maybe I'm miss-reading that. It's a small add-on that offers a helpful drop-down history list for all of your page/s searches, during that session, so you don't have to retype repeat hunts. Plus, it looks a lot better, than the screenshot example... rather than a bulky grey button, it's just a slick little arrowhead in Fox and Moon.
I'd love to see the extensions.findlist.entriesList config entry, which isn't used, accessed by Findlist with an input box within options, so we can enter keywords that will be available for any future search (perhaps even a small cog icon on the findbar for quick access to this). That would give this add-on the added benefit that Findbar Favorites add-on offers. Even just a quick fix, so it accesses that info would be great for those of us, who know how to access/edit about:config entries.
Firefox (25.0.1) Why they changed the find bar? Why do not we have a choice now? For me, and I'm sure for other users on the old version a lot more convenient. Now Findlist completely useless. Even on a single page can not see the search history. Too sad.
Please update this add-on for Firefox 25 (new find bar). Brilliant add-on!!!.
EDIT: Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm using the latest release of Firefox (25.0.1) and as you can read in the release notes, the find bar is no longer shared between tabs. This also means that the find history list is no longer shared between tabs and between sessions.
It is good feature - "Deleting some phrase from list". But IMHO current realisation has not intuitive user interface. I think better show small button "Delete" by event "Mouse Over". Or use dropdown-menu by click Right mouse button on each phrase.
The addon is up to date for the latest version of the Firefox. In addition it has couple of new features: – the number of entries are configurable in the Option panel; – the entries can be kept between sessions; – the width of the find field is configurable in Option panel; – delete an entry from the list by highlighting it and pressing the "Delete" key.
I'm trying this out and it's promising, and it seems it can be used together with Find Toolbar Tweaks without problems, but does this history get erased with every restart of Firefox? Because my history does not persist for me and the find bar dropdown is empty every time I restart Firefox. I do not have private browsing mode enabled, I do not ask Firefox to automatically delete my history or anything like that. I even disable FTT to check if there was an extension conflict, but even without FTT, the dropdown still remained empty. I did multiple restarts, and it was no help.
This is a very nice idea. It should be in Firefox by default.
There are several nice extensions for the find bar in FF, but they cannot be used together because of the way that the Find bar works (as I was told by an extension developer). You have to choose only one, otherwise they will conflict.
This is also the case with this extension, it does not work with Smart Find which I have on my FF (another useful Find bar extension).
