Description

This extension aims to reduce the addictiveness of websites. This is done by applying a filter over the target website, fading out the colors and turning down the brightness. This makes viewing content on the website less stimulating, and in turn makes alternative activities seem more stimulating.

Compared to typical website access limiting extensions, disinterest does not place hard limits or delays on your ability to access websites. Your favourite social media is there as always, it is just worse.

Installation

The extension relies on the experimental css `backdrop-filter` property.
Many browsers support this out of the box, but Firefox requires some configuration.

To enable `backdrop-filter` support on Firefox, perform the following steps:

1. Navigate to `about:config`.
2. Set `gfx.webrender.all` to `true`.
3. Set `layout.css.backdrop-filter.enabled` to `true`.
4. Restart Firefox.
