  • i've made the fan update for FF 4.0.*
u can try it out here
    https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/digger-fan-update/

  • I've tried other similar addons but I keep coming back to this one. Good thing I've kept a copy of NightWolf1298's 3.5.3 version. I've bumped its maxversion and put it on: http://web.itu.edu.tr/uyar/digger-3.5.3a.xpi

  • @Alan Baxter: That's good to know, but unfortunately, Digger 3.5.3 isn't available on this page. It was a special tweak by NightWolf1298 that had its own page on AMO, and has since disappeared. If you've got a download link, I'm sure people'd appreciate having it.

  • Right-clicking on the favicon in the location bar brings up the Digger selection menu for me, just like it does in Fx 3.6.15. I used the Add-on Compatibility Reporter extension to install Digger 3.5.3 in Fx 4.0

  • Hacking install.rdf also works for Firefox 4.0 - page context menu only. Can anyone get it to work on the favicon too?

  • I personally switched to "Locationbar²" https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/4014/
Which provides the same behavior but instead with Linkifying URL segments with mouse hover the locationbar + extra key (Ctrl, Meta, Shift or Alt)

  • I've fixed this extension to be compatible with Firefox 3.5. Simply changing the version number in install.rdf makes it install, but only the page context menu works. This updated version also makes the context menu on the page favicon work.

All credit for the extension goes to the original developers.

  • the 4.0.* doesnt work for me :(

  • I fixed it this way:

    - go to extension directory [profile]/extensions/digger@clav.mozdev.org
    - edit the file install.rdf - look for the line 3.0.* and change to 4.0.* or whatever
    - save the file
    - zip up all the files in the directory. make the file extension .xpi (like digger.xpi but name doesn't matter)
    - drag this .xpi file onto firefox and it will prompt to install

    works for me...

  • foobarbazxxx, your last instruction is unclear. I tried to do this and Digger didn't appear in FF at all, could you please explain a bit further. Will right clicking on site icon work? It does NOT work of you just raise MaxVersion.

  • 1. unzip "extensions/digger@clav.mozdev.org/digger.zip" (in your profile directory) so that there are two new directories "content" and "locale"
    2. edit "extensions/digger@clav.mozdev.org/chrome.manifest" and remove "jar:digger.zip!/" from the "content" and "locale" lines. (relative local file reference instead of in the zip file) see:
    3. edit "extensions/digger@clav.mozdev.org/content/digger.xul" and move the "" line from near the top to just before the line.

  • Very great addon, to navigate through URLs.

I regread, that it isnt supported anymore.

Due to this was one of my most used addons, I found searching a lot to find a replacement. Everyone who needs this features in FF 3.5, install EZNav and use Middle-click on STOP or RELOAD-Button.

  • Please update this extension for FF 3.5, I can't live without it!

  • Great extension but doesn't work with FF 3.5. Stephen, please update this!!

  • This is a great extension for easily navigating deep web sites.

It tries to be two things at once by adding google cache and internet archive links (as there can be many alternatives to these and the extension does not have an option to add more) but this does not reduce its righteously earned 5-star rating. Actually I use both the navigation and cache/archive features of this extension.

  • Magood,

It's probably not working for you because you're not using it properly. You need to click on the extensions icons just to the left of the address link on the navigation toolbar. The instructions says to click on the site icon or the go button, but considering firefox 3.0 has no go button, you need to click the site icon on the LEFT side of the address, at which point you'll see a drop down menu.

  • @Stephen Clavering

You have no contact info - so I'm posting here.

I love your add-on - there seems to be a weird bug. Sometimes - and I can't duplicate the mistake - digger disappears from the context menu if you click a page.

    example
    http://hnn.us/roundup/comments/55027.html

I learned that to get it back in the "click page context menu" - I need to click an image or a link. I have nearly 50 add-ons - so I guess it's some sort of conflict.

If you want details - write me at gmail. My account name there is the same as here - ekbwordwide.

  • Thank you very much for this very useful add-on.
Could you please add digger right-click menu to each item of drop-down url list under the location bar also?
    Thanks in advance.

    enjoy!

  • As I said it is a great extension but, could you add an option to disable it from the context menu?

    Thanks!

  • Great add-on!!

  • Dear Stephen Clavering,
I'm a member of the eXtenZilla team ( http://www.extenzilla.org ) whose goal is to provide as many as possible Italian translations of extensions and documentation about Mozilla.org.

Besides, the members of this team support Mozilla software (Firefox, Thunderbird and Suite) as admins/moderators of the Italian forum on http://forum.mozillaitalia.org.

Since I'm also an enthusiastic user of Digger, I've created the it-IT localization for version 3.0 by translating the en-US locale contained in the original XPI package.

The link to the repacked extension already including the it-IT locale:

    http://upload.extenzilla.org/digger-3.0-fx.xpi

I have created also another extension modifying yours (adding your language in the local folder "en-US" and also other file) to allow the complete localization (description included) by other users in many languages, adjusting the structure to the standard, but there isn't substantial change, the result is the same and also the words in your language.

As I said before, in the near future we'll be making Italian translations of the most popular and used extensions. So, if you need an it-IT locale, please don't hesitate to contact either me at this address or the eXtenZilla team at info@extenzilla.org.
I'd be glad if you would add it to your extension so allowing us Italian users to enjoy your extension directly in our mother language.

For this reason, I'm sending you the link to the repacked, modified extension already including the it-IT locale and working fine:

    http://upload.extenzilla.org/digger-3.0_modified-fx.xpi

I hope you will appreciate my small effort done in trying to contribute to your great project as well as wish you would kindly publish the new version containing the Italian locale too.

    Greetings

    ANDREW

P.S.: could insert an email to contact you, thanks in advance.

  • This extension is great and work very well with FF 3.

I didn't have issues with the menu, even when using older versions of the extension, for one simple reason: I also use the Go Up extension (by the same author) and when Digger is installed right-click on the Go Up button gives you the Digger menu.

Which begs the question: why not integrate the two extensions? They complement each other perfectly and if the user doesn't want the Go Up button he has the choice of not adding it to the toolbar.
