What's the difference between this addon and MafiaaFire Redirector?
This addon is actually just a rewrite of MafiaaFire Redirector 0.4b
.Then why use this addon (instead of MafiaaFire Redirector)?
MafiaaFire Redirector hasn't any build-in list of redirected sites. MafiaaFire Redirector download the "redirect list" from 4 websites:http://mafiaafire.com/xml-update/xml-list.phphttp://ifucksexygirls.com/xml-update/xml-list2.phphttp://ezee.se/xml-update/xml-list3.phphttp://mafiaafire.com/xml-update/xml-list1.php
This means that you need to trust
_all_ 4 websites (yes also the spooky looking "ifucksexygirls.com
If any of these domains suddenly changes "youtube.com
" to "crappy-virus-videos.com
", then all YouTube links will
be redirected to crappy-virus-videos.com
. You can't avoid MAFIAA Fire of doing this.
Another example is that on the official MafiaaFire Redirector "forget" to tell that they also redirect atdhe.net
(19-04-2011) - UPDATED: check the 3rd picture.
[..] in future we might collect some IP data when you ping our site for updates.
FireICE doesn't (and can't) collect any kind of data from you.
I don't like all these behaviours, and I don't trust the websites, so I modified the MafiaaFire Redirector (0.4b) and called it "FireICE".But I do trust the domains, so why should I start using your addon?
When I modified the MafiaaFire Redirector, I also removed some other stupid behaviours (imo).
As you can see in this code (copy/paste from MafiaaFire Redirector 0.4b:
if(qucikFilterRedirectCount % 15 == 0)
window.content.location.href = quickFilter_100_count_redirect_url+"?d="+mafiaafireFilterUrl;
This mean that MafiaaFire Redirector will redirect you to a "help_us.php" page, every 15'th time you use the addon. This can and is(?) being used to "track" you.
I don't want to be "tracked" and I don't want to "help them". I just want a addon that redirect the "stolen" domains.
I think MAFIAA Fire should have a "remove tracking"-button, but MAFIAA Fire doesn't have any buttons, so I simple removed the "tracking / help_us" funktion.I want to "help them", so why should I use your addon?
My addon doesn't download the list (my addon has a build-in list), this mean that my addon is faster (no need to download the list). I also removed all the "download and parse xml"-code, so my main code is almost two third (2/3) smaller than MafiaaFire Redirector (and that's with the build-in list).
Also, my addon just replace "oldsite.tld" with "newsite.tld", so if your bookmarked "oldsite.tld/somepage" it should be redirected to "newsite.tld/somepage".Disadvantage of a build-in list
The only (afaik) disadvantage of having a build-in list, is that I need to make a new addon for each site I want to get replaced, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) mostly steals lots of domains on schedule dates, so next time you read about a new move from ICE, then check your addons for new updates :-)What's redirected?
Download the addon and open it with winrar / other zip program and check :-)
This is the ONLY sites that's being redirected:tvshack.net -> tvshack.bztvshack.cc -> tvshack.bzhq-streams.com -> hq-streams.tvhq-streams.net -> hq-streams.tvatdhe.net -> atdhenet.tvtorrent-finder.com -> torrent-finder.infomovies-links.tv -> watch-movies-tv.inforojadirecta.com -> rojadirecta.esrojadirecta.org -> rojadirecta.esfirstrow.net -> firstrowsports.euiilemi.com -> ilemi.euiilemii.com -> ilemi.euilemi.com -> ilemi.euonsmash.com -> freeonsmash.comrapgodfathers.com -> rapgodfathers.info
(no nasty surprices!)Credit
ALL credit goes to the maker of MafiaaFire Redirector ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mafiaafire-redirector/
) this is ONLY a rewrite of the addon. I'm not trying to steal credit or anything... I just doesn't like the adware behaviour.
I renamed this addon, to make sure avoid confusion about the two addons - but this is just a rewriteTODO List
As said (multiple times) - this is just a rewrite, but I am going to add new stuff to this addon.
I need a new icon (please send me suggestions!).
Also, most important, I need to develop a GUI where you can see and modify the "redirected site" list.
