The decision of Mozilla developers to drop the addon bar instead of making it optional for the user or providing alternative locations to put the plugin icons to was unfortunate at best.
One of Firefox' main advantages is flexibility by customization, by adding functionality by means of plugins and many plugins work best using their icons visible on a bar.
Removing one of 2 locations for these icons renders the one location left (menu bar) nearly unusable. Unless we either get back the old addon bar OR get additional optional locations to put these icons, addons like "the Addon Bar (restored)" are a "need-to-have" - thanks to the developer for providing it that fast.
Great addon until all addons update for the latest Firefox requirements (I still have 6 that haven't and only appear on the addon bar)
I don't understand why they removed it or why you can just create your own custom toolbars. people hate being forced and love freedom.
I appreciate your promptness in posting this to reinstate a (for me) long-used function. It works exactly as expected. I hate it when the Foxygod taketh things away! Contributed generously - keep up the good work!
Hi, this add-on is awesome. That's what I thought, but when I disabled it, the bar is still there. When I re-enable the add-on, it adds a new bar. Do this several times, and I get four/five bar down there. Is this a bug? I can't remove these bars from anywhere. Anyway, thank you. This add-on is great beside the issue I mentioned.
Sent an email.
Edit: Now fixed in the beta version 3.2a3! (You can install it from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/versions/).
awesome! finally an add-on bar extension that works like a charm for all my other extensions!!
The idiot developers at Mozilla decided to remove the functionality that I and hundreds of thousands of other users were using in Firefox without asking us. This add-on is the only way I have found to bring back the status bar that some of my add-ons that I use daily require in order to work properly.
Hopefully in the future the morons at Mozilla that decided to change my user experience and break how I use Firefox will not make further decisions like this or I will be gone to a different browser.
Poof! It's back! And all my icons are right where I left 'em. :)
Thanks so much... it works perfectly again after disappearing when I upgraded to Firefox 29.0.1. I expected better from Firefox who built their reputation on the user's ability to customize things to their liking then they remove this tool bar without even giving users the option of using it for some of their add-ons. I am getting disillusioned with Firefox changing things so often and not giving options to re-instate tools we have grown used to. Regardless, thanks to Geek-in-Training for this!
Thanks so much for this. The questionable (to be polite) decision to remove even the option for the addon bar rendered half of my addons useless. Great simple fix!
Helped me get Forecastfox Weather back!
I really liked the original addons bar until it was removed. Thanks to you it is back and works well. I had one problem with firefox losing the addonbar setting. I have addressed this to the support site. . Otherwise thanks for doing this I see I am not the only one who needs the addon bar and appreciates that you
brought it back.
Thank you. I was lost with out the status bar on Firefox 29.
The very first thing that annoyed me with FF29.01 was the removal of the addon bar. And not being able to put the toolbar where you want it. Which idiot decided to remove this feature i dont know. This feature was one of the important options to me to switch to Firefox 6 years ago. Great job bringing it back!
Thank you for turning my new Chrome (firefox 29) into a Firefox again!
Thanks for giving it back. Happy with Firefox 29 now.
thanks for fixing this silly change !
Thank you for fixing what the developers have broken.
I got my status bar back. Excellent.
It's a great add-on - thanks for providing it. Just a shame that it is necessary. Mozilla seem determined to ruin Firefox.
Thank you so much for bringing the bar back!
Since Firefox version 29 the addon bar has been removed by Mozilla. This addon restores it. Useful.
Until the devs at Mozilla pull their heads out of their a$$e$ and restore the normal addon bar, this addon will work nicely.
I for one will not allow Mozilla to cut features and CLAIM to offer customization, when that customization does not offer such a plainly desired element people are used to and want...
If enough of us complain about the removal, and specifically ASK for an optional element in the customization panel, they may/should give us what we want.
I specifically mentioned many of us abandoning Mozilla products through alienation on their part if our needs are so ignored by developers... PLEASE do the same.
If we just let them remove useful features, they will keep doing it until they realize what it does to their market share... if they ever pay attention.
So happy someone made a fix that works for now... but what to do in the future when they change FF code again and disable the bottom area altogether?
Best thing we can do is file complaints via the Mozilla feedback system from the Help menu: Submit feedback....
Thanks to everyone who follows through with an official complaint.
Thanks to the developer of this addon bar addon....
I don't know what Mozilla is thinking when they decided to remove the addon bar, but this plugin puts it right back, Thanks for saving me!
