Let's see, I installed it on Waterfox.
Would be nice if you share your experience
any news for support firefox 57 quantum?
There is still no possibility to get it to work.
Kvůli reloadu jsem musel downgradovat, ale dopadlo to výborně, takže spokojenost.
Spíš by měl firefox něco vymyslet, aby se po synchronizaci profilu na nový počítač tohle nedělo.
It's sad that there is no alternative to this extention.
I am forced to install the old version of 48, run the FR and only then update the firefox to the current version. I can not find an alternative way
hey, can you please update this? .. i'm really glad to find this add-on
Mozilla cancelled the API
Очень удобное дополнение при восстановлении и переносе закладок, но когда же будет обновление с поддержкой последних версий FireFox?
Install Firefox 48 first, don't update it.
Install this awesome addon, do your thing and then update Firefox.
After installing your OS all favicons are not synced back by Firefox sync.. So this is a must have tool! Hopefully you will find a way to achieve this with the new SDK. Mozilla please see us we want this function in FF! Why is this not standard anyway? Good luck.
Too bad can't be available any more. 5 stars for all your efforts.
Perhaps Mozilla will add some Low Level API to the Web Services but this takes time...
Sad that there can't be an update. Thanks for the time and all the best. This 5* rating is to show some love. :) Really appreciated this addon!
Using Firefox 51.0.1
Worked just fine for me. :D
Thank you but unfortunateley the used API is gone and will not be replaced.
You can check the Browser console.
There should be a message like:
"Warnung: 'nsFaviconService::setAndFetchFaviconForPage()' sollte nicht mehr verwendet werden, bitte verwenden Sie 'nsFaviconService::setAndFetchFaviconForPage(..., [optional aLoadingPrincipal])'"
This means that the API ist not available.
Great AddOn but does not work with FF49. I am hoping that this can be fixed in the near future.
Nice software - for an older version.
Firefox version 43.1 All above are terrible for my taste.
The developer cannot update this add-on due to the way the newer versions of Firefox handle favicons somehow. Bummer, because this was a very useful tool to update bookmark favicons and easily navigate my bookmark lists.
Thank you for nice job, hope FaviconRelader will continue.
Just tried this in Pale Moon (a Firefox fork) 26.4.1 and it worked fine, although the only way I found to access it was via the context menu on an individual bookmark (I could still run it against all my bookmarks however).
Firefox 48.0.2 (64bit) Nothing happening even with all other addons disabled.
Have been using this addon for years worth 5stars when working as it has been until now
The AddOn cannot be adapted because there is no replacement API to set the Icon.
pls fix not working firefox 48.0.2 reloader0.8.1 - does nothing!
love this addon...............
If you have still Bookmarks that are not updated than this is because not all bookmarks could be updated. E.g. redirections.
If you have still problems than please use a portable FF with no other addons and retest.
works, i love it! Big THX!!!
Everybody who needs to restore the favicons in his bookmarks and menu will ove it.
Worked for me in a freshly installed Firefox at once.
Thanks miacdo you saved me so much time and frustration. Please don't delete this addon. It's the only way to fix this stupid firefox bug.
For anybody confused about the instructions, you need to right click the top of Firefox and check mark Menu Bar, then go to bookmarks and it will be the second option from the top (Reload Favorite Icons) under Show All Bookmarks
I lost all my favicons when I deleted places.sqlite in an attempt to correct a different problem. I soon realized favicons aren't just eye candy; they accelerate and enhance browsing, so I hate to lose them.
I searched for solutions and this unique addon proved to be the only worthwhile fix. Initially, it didn't work on FF 48 on Windows. So I tried replacing places.sqlite with a backup copy, but this didn't restore my favicons. However, I found that, after replacing places.sqlite and trying Favicon Reloader again, the addon worked! The dialog was displayed, I ran it, and it fixed my favicons. Excellent. I recommend trying this workaround if the addon doesn't work for you.
This add-on works just fine on Firefox 48 in Kubuntu Linux. I've had it installed for some time now across many versions of Firefox and it really works well although I don't use it very frequently.
Because I test new versions of Linux it's annoying to always be starting with a 'blank slate' as far as the favicons are concerned in a new install. Even if you visit a site several times, more often than not the favicon still doesn't appear in the bookmark. FavIcon Reloader to the rescue! :-)
The only refinement I would like to see is selective updating of favicons rather than the 'all or nothing' situation as now. I hope the developer doesn't discontinue this add-on as it really does a great job. Highly recommended!
It works with the latest Firefox version (48 as of today) and without problem it identified my bookmark favicons which are close to a thousand in total. Cheers!
Personally, I would call something like this an essential add-on, so it really sucks that it can't work with the newer versions of Firefox (which, btw, the developer should add in the description since you can still install this to later versions than the ones it will work on and that just leads to annoyance).
Ah well, such is life. Thanks to the developer for sharing this, I really did love it while it worked! And, would anyone know of a new way to do something like this that doesn't involve opening several thousand bookmarks? ugh.....
Response to developer: Yeah, I know, I just meant a quick edit to the "About this Add-on" section ^^
This AddOn is released by me to FireFox version 46th
Unfortunately Mozilla extends the version independently and I can not restrict this.
