Easy to set up and use, the best ad blocker I've used - thank you.

I'm new to add ons and ad blockers, but reading the NY Times was getting to be a drag, with all the damaged children and other bizarre content along the edges of the page. Not to mention flashing uglies and others in my email box. Installed this, and *poof* all gone. Thank you so much.

Thank you for forks Ohodnoceno 5 z 5 hvězdiček

I am glad there is a fork! I didnt use adblock before, but I support this now that they are messing with the very mission by thowing money at it. Yeah sure, ads that are made to look like search results on "trusted" search engine are not intrusive, and acceptable. Vommit.

Adblock Plus Pop-up addon doesn't appear to work with Adbock edge.

For a second I didn't thought that Adblock Plus couldn't get any better, but hell yea, this is better!

when ZERO third party ads are acceptable employ adBLOCK edge Ohodnoceno 5 z 5 hvězdiček

I and I alone decide which content to load- or not. Wladimir Palant's company which now publishes adblock plus ads has crossed the line into unhelpful; he willfully refrains from seeking informed consent for his ludicrous ad-showing policy. The appropriate default for perma-whitelisting ads "feature" is obviously disabled.

adBLOCK edge returns judgement- and power to the user.

I do not tolerate evil actions or lies. Your claim is either ignorance or a falsehood. Hopefully the former as I can endeavor to liberate you from that state myself. :)

1
Element selection is- and always has been a separate firefox extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/elemhidehelper/

"this extension requires adblock plus ads" is not accurate. It will work perfectly well with adBLOCK edge.

.

2
to view blockable ads in adBLOCK edge:

right click adBLOCK edge icon in status bar, open blockable items

if no icon is visiable to you either add it by right clicking status bar or other firefox UI element which can be customized, customize, drag icon to desired location

or
Tools > adBLOCK edge > open blockable items

.
.

Know that this is one of many ways to HIDE elements. (elements per se cannot be blocked but only hidden). Alternatives you might enjoy include:

Stylish
&
HackTheWeb

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hack-the-web/

.
.

GreaseMonkey
or
Scriptish

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/scriptish/

.
.

Yet Another Remove It Permanently
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/yarip/

.
.

HackTheWeb provides a platypus-like interface (also similar to hiding helper) for selecting elements which then saves a [CSS] style to be applied by Stylish.
That employs CSS, and is applied after the page renders.

Greasemoney or Scriptish apply UserScript

yarip employs XPath

Given the limited CSS implementation of "CSS selectors" in adblock/hide helper you'll need XPath for fine[r] grained selections. (XPath is more powerful than CSS is some instances: it picks up where current CSS usage is deficient.)

.

Do ask Wladamir Palant to incorporate XPath into future adblock plus ads builds for the best of blocking, and element selection.

.

adblock plus ads is also available to safari, chrome, and chromium. That latter is free from google infestation [raping privacy]. However because of limitations of these other browsers not all blocking rule creation is possible -- most notably youtube stream ads. To compensate you'll need upstream content filtering perhaps by UTM (pfsense, untangle, et al) or more proximately via Privoxy (loopback proxy) -- all of which are zero-cost. (raping privacy extracts cost in lieu of financial cost, a folly unto itself beyond grave moral crime. "free" apps which are actually malware or internet ads loaders are examples of not-zero-cost).

Works fairly well. Can still be detected by some sites. You can get a monkey script from userscripts to lessen the detection chances. You can also get an add-on to remove the adblock detection, or you can disable adblock, which I don't like doing. Updated with this page today.

Not suspicious with latest upgrade Ohodnoceno 5 z 5 hvězdiček

hi stylemessiah,

I (now using a pseudonym) asked for Mozilla removal of your posting, because I.M.O. you did not comply with the Mozilla review guidelines.
Your 'review' should be a support request, addressed to the support address. Since my answer does not belong here too, I requested Mozilla to remove it too. However, I hope Mozilla leaves it here for some time so that you can read it.

Bit suspicious with latest upgrade Ohodnoceno 3 z 5 hvězdiček

I noticed that ABE updated itself today and now has a new icon (blue), but the biggest thing was that when i looked at the filters it said that "some filters were disabled"
`
This seems to be by default, so my question is, is this now like Adblock Plus where you let some "unobtrusive" ads through?

Because thats why i jumped ship from ABP....

If you are indeed letting ads through now, not announcing it will just make it look like what it is, stealthy dishonesty

I hope this isnt the case

EDIT: Doubly suspicious as rather than answer my questions, the author removed my comment!

Reposted because questions need answering.

UPDATE:

Well someone removed my post very shortly after i first made it. It wasnt me.

And responding to your idea that "you probably accidentally disabled (clicked) a checkbox in the filter's preferences window" as a way of explaining the "some filters were disabled" problem, i did NOT touch anything. ABE updfated and opened a new tab, i noticed the change to blue icon, closed the tab. Didnt change the default filter selection on there, never have, never will.

Some time later i thought id check if there were any new features and opened ABE from the toolbar, at this point i saw the "some filters were disabled" button.

Zero input from me on that one, it happened due to the update, hence why i posted asking what was going on.

So to other users, i suggest you check your filter subscription tab to see if you also have the "some filters were disabled" button in your filter window, and if so click it to re-enable ALL filters. Maybe its a bug, maybe not.

No ads allowed

First of all, i can't remove comments i don't have the access to do so.
The icon was changed to avoid Trademark issues https://adblockplus.org/blog/adblock-plus-trademarks.
About "some filters were disabled" warning is because you probably accidentally disabled (clicked) a checkbox in the filter's preferences window.

Uses a lot less memory than Adblock Plus! Ohodnoceno 4 z 5 hvězdiček

My memory usage went down well over 75+ MB using this plugin over Adblock Plus!

Now one thing I would like to see though is the ability to hide the text saying 'Adblock Edge' the text takes up too much of the bar I prfer just to see the icon itself with the pull down arrow.

Much needed fork of Adblock Ohodnoceno 5 z 5 hvězdiček

I can understand why Adblock Plus did what it did, to make money, but ads are very annoying. Removed Adblock Plus in favor of Adblock Edge, all stupid ads are gone.

Just what I needed Ohodnoceno 5 z 5 hvězdiček

Since Adblock plus lets through anoying google ads and the "switch off" to remove these "acceptable" ads option is quite hidden I find adblock Edge the much cleaner and better working option.
