The DeGoogled status indicator gives a visual cue about the add-on's correct functioning. If DeGoogle's tag does not appear in the top left corner of google.com search pages, refresh the browser and/or clear the cache. See https://imgur.com/u3blptX

• Trigger automatic loading and running of the add-on's content script
• Prevent google.com's JavaScript from ReGoogling previously-DeGoogled search links
• Bundle the DeGoogled status image with the add-on vs fetching it over HTTP
• Functional test the common code in Firefox and in Chrome-like browsers
• Remove even more Google-generated tracking cruft from search hit URLs

DeGoogle's diagnostic DeGoogled tag gives a convenient visual cue to whether or not the add-on is functioning correctly. If the DeGoogled status indicator does not appear in the top left corner of google.com search pages, then refreshing your browser and/or clearing its cache should allow DeGoogle to return to correct functioning. See https://imgur.com/u3blptX.
If, after taking those corrective measures, DeGoogle still does not appear to have successfully DeGoogled google.com search pages, I'd be thrilled to look into it for you. Please shoot me a private message at my Reddit inbox.
