Works in Pale Moon 26.0.3 Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I needed a tab splitter and tried this one first. It works however it needs an option and two features added to it.
- option: Ability to hide the header in the split tab so that both tabs can be lined up with one another.
- feature: the split tab has no zoom control so my normal tab is at 115% and the split tab is 100% (too small for me). Needs to zoom and also for same reason as above so that both sides can be lined up with one another for comparison.
- feature: synchronous scrolling of both sides at once.
The fact that the split panel didn't have it's own zoom control I had to find another addon (Fox Splitter). That addon would have been just right except it hasn't been updated for the latest releases of FF, so I re-installed this one.
At the very least can you give us zoom control for the split tab?
Feb 2016 - Still doesn't work. Rated 1 out of 5 stars
It flickers a bit and then opens a blank new tab.
Support for Pale Moon would be great.. Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Is there any chance you would add support for Pale Moon v26+ ? I switched to Pale Moon because of the upcoming changes for Firefox 46.
This would be a great addon for me since I am always turning addons on and off for various reasons. This addon is exactly what I need but it has no support for Pale Moon.
Install needs to be fixed Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I tried to install this but the install popup says it couldn't install because the file appears to be corrupt.
EDIT: Okay, I don't use those. I was trying to install this into Pale Moon v26.0.3 (latest). It doesn't have Firefox's sound mute in the tab buttons so I thought this would be a helpful replacement. Thanks anyways.
Latest version also works with Pale Moon Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I went to the link below that CookyHR showed and got the latest version of this addon. It works with Pale Moon's most recent release v26.0.3.
I miss this addon! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I recently switched to Pale Moon v26+ to stay away from the changes Mozilla is making to Firefox v46.
I can install older versions of this addon in Pale Moon but they don't work, it doesn't detect duplicate tabs.
Can you please make this work with Pale Moon v26 and up? Thank you!
Unable to install Rated 2 out of 5 stars
When I click the install button I get a popup window from the url bar saying, "The addon cannot be installed...it appears to be corrupt."
Pale Moon support Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I am one of the users who has this installed in my Firefox v44 but recently I switched to Pale Moon because of the changes Mozilla is making in Firefox v46.
Your older versions of this addon work in Pale Moon (kind of) but it lacks a lot of the features.
Can you please make your addon (all the features) work for Pale Moon v26+ ?
Works in Pale Moon Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I just installed this right now and it works in the most current version of Pale Moon v26.0.2 x64(bit) on Windows 10 (not Insider Preview).
I see you got your changes made... Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Nice job on the addon, you keep me away from Google, for that I thank you. =)
But I need to uninstall this now, for the time being. I use Bing.com as my default search (I need my Bing!) but this addon is redirecting from Bing.com now too.
I know you also said you were planning to add support for other search engines too so I guess Bing was one of those. Perhaps one day you will have an options area where we can choose which search engines this addon redirects us away from.
EDIT: I edited your extension to remove the redirect from Bing.com which turned this into an unsigned addon.
When FF v46 releases I will either have to stop using Firefox and use Palemoon instead or I will have to stop at FF v45 because when FF v46 comes out Mozilla is removing the ability to temporarily enable the install of unsigned addons. Hopefully you will add the option of letting us choose which search engines we want to use and not have them redirected.
EDIT 2: There you are, good morning. I know you are currently blocking Google, Bing and Yahoo. I just came back to say that your addon still allows Yahoo.com to load even though the search button there doesn't do anything. If I try to search for something on Yahoo from the search bar your addon redirects but it doesn't stop me from going to Yahoo.com like it does for Google and Bing.
You should set up a support email. =)
Gave this a try Rated 4 out of 5 stars
You may want to mention in the addon description that this only works from the search bar and the address bar.
The first place I tried this addon of course was from Google's homepage and it didn't re-direct. I didn't expect it to work here, I just wanted to see if it would.
It did re-direct when setting Google as my Firefox's default search engine although it did list the full Google search results first, then it did the re-direct a couple of seconds later.
But it does work, it does re-direct your search away from Google if done from the search bar or the address bar.
I have DuckDuckGo as one of my search providers and in the back of my mind I always know I should be using it instead of Google (I use Bing all the time but once in a great while I look something up in Google) so even though I know I don't want to use Google, I was just too lazy to switch my search bar's default to DuckDuckGo.
Now I don't need to worry, this addon does it for me. Nicely done. Thanks for making this.
I wonder though, since the Google search results still displays even for a brief moment, I would think Google still keeps track of what we searched for since it spit out a list of search results. It'd be nice if this bypassed Google altogether. =)
Shhh, don't tell Google (what we searched for) hehe.
Nice but not what I was expecting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I do like the thinner look I just thought they would disappear and reappear on mouse-over (what I was hoping for). That didn't happen so I thought maybe that would have been a separate setting in the options but being a very small and minimalistic addon, there are no options. =)
Oh well, still nice and I still have it installed. Thanks for making this.
Was so close to being perfect for me Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I ended up uninstalling this addon as it is unusable for me after all despite what I said in my very first review of this addon.
It's unusable for me because with it's default configuration of selecting text and the pop-up menu appears (it works perfectly) but it constantly gets in the way when I am writing comments or reviews and trying to make edits. Anytime I select text that menu pops up and sometimes right on top of the very thing I am trying to edit.
If I change the behavior so that the menu only pops up when I use a modifier-key well, that doesn't work at all for me. I tried using shift, and then ctrl, and then alt but anytime I select text while using those modifier keys the popup menu flashes on screen and appears for only a split-second. I cannot click any search engine because the pop-up menu disappears so fast.
The default instant search feature (see my previous reviews) simply doesn't work properly and the author has stopped responding when we got to that part in our discussion and the addon hasn't been updated yet to fix that.
Again, let me re-iterate - this addon would have been so perfect and was exactly what I wanted.
This addon does work as long as you don't mind the default instant searches using Firefox's default search engine, and the pop-up menu portion of this addon is great as long as you don't highlight text or links (for some other purpose) because that pop-up menu gets in the way.
Misbehaving in Firefox 44. Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Since the update Persona Switcher has been a little bit wonky. I had it set so that when I hover over a persona in the list it would briefly change the browser so that I can see what it looks like. I cannot use that part of it anymore because Persona Switcher's button menu twitches and blinks and most of the time the changes in appearance doesn't work, the menu keeps closing too. Also, Firefox's Default appears in the list twice now.
If I turn off the previews of the different personas, Persona Switcher's menu is usable but Default still appears twice.
FYI: This still works in FF 44.0 Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Just so you know this still works in the current version of Firefox 44.0.
-When saving a bookmark by double-clicking the star button in the url, you can rate it there.
-When right-clicking a bookmark that was already saved but never rated (before you got the addon for example) you can rate it there.
-Right-clicking bookmarks and sorting your bookmarks by rating works.
-The only places you see your bookmark ratings is in your bookmark folders on your bookmarks toolbar, on bookmarks that are in your bookmarks menu, and in the tooltip for a bookmark, when hovering over a bookmark that was already rated.
You will NOT see the bookmark ratings in the bookmarks sidebar or in the bookmarks manager or in the bookmarks properties window. I think these three places that you don't see them is because the author never made it work that way originally.
I also don't think these ratings can be saved at all, again because I don't think the author ever took it that far. So I doubt you can save your bookmarks to a html or json file and restore them later.
But if you want to rate your bookmarks that appear on your bookmarks toolbar (in folders) or rate bookmarks that you can see in your bookmarks menu - this works.
I gave this addon a 3-star rating because of the short-comings I mentioned and for the author not actively keeping this updated or responding to reviews.
This is exactly what I am looking for, but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This is exactly the addon I need however I prefer to use Bing instead.
Can you make this so we can choose which search engine to use in the options or is it already in the options?
I haven't installed this yet since it appears to not be working as of right now according to what someone else says.
Thank you Baris! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Thank you for making the Twitter App extension and also this Facebook Sidebar extension.
I am using Windows 10 and have the Facebook and Twitter apps from the Windows Store installed. I would resize them (Twitter on the left side of my monitor and Facebook on the right side of my monitor) and then I would resize my Firefox browser window to fit in between them.
Now that I found your two addons I am thrilled not having to use those apps anymore but I really hope you can help me. Currently I cannot have both of your apps open at the same time (Twitter on left and Facebook on right) -- Can you make it so we can have both open at the same time? Can you make it the way Delicious.com does their Firefox extension? Delicious puts their sidebar on the right and we can use the normal sidebar on the left.
It would be nice to have both open at the same time.
Owl at browser startup! Nice! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I apologize, come to think of it I did not check options for this addon and should have. Thanks for having already included the option for Owl starting up when the browser starts.
As far as Flickr goes, that classic setting works for the homepage. When I go to my photostream (the page where I see all my photos that I've uploaded), classic theme still doesn't work there.
EDIT: Lol, funny - on Flickr's homepage I have to use Owl's classic theme, but on the photostream page I have to turn classic theme off and it works.
You have checkboxes in the Owl toolbar button for "Use classic theme on this website" and "Disable Owl for this website" -- can you maybe add those same options at page level too? Such as "Use classic theme on this webpage", and "Disable Owl for this webpage"? I think those "page-level" options might help cover every scenario.
Yeah, conflicting values Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Here is what you were asking for:
browser.search.defaultenginename; (DEFAULT) Google
browser.search.defaultenginename.US; (USER SET) Bing
I changed the first value from Google to Bing and it worked using your addon but it is still an issue. If I go up to my search bar and set Wikipedia as my default search engine now and use your addon to do an instant search it now goes to Bing, not Wikipedia. It's the same exact scenario as before.
I don't want to have to keep going to about:config and manually changing that all the time.
I'll just do without the "instant default search" and just use your regular pop-up window to choose instead.
Your addon doesn't seem to be picking up on the search engine we set as default within the Search Bar itself.

Here is a screenshot of what we are talking about. This is a Flickr link: https://flic.kr/p/Dn64wy
In my last reply I said "Bing is my default" -- I selected those words to use your context-search addon and you can see it went to Google even though Bing is set as my default.
I am using Firefox v43.0.4 which is the most current release (not Developer).
