In Firefox 24+, install the "Click to Play per-element" extension first Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Actually, once you have installed the "Click to Play per-element" extension, which restores Click to Play functionality to Firefox 24 and higher, the Click to Play switch extension and its toolbar button seem to work just fine. It's simple, works great, and saves you from having to load about:config when you want to toggle Click to Play on or off. The only improvement I might suggest would be to change the toolbar button's background to white, and the "stop" symbol (for plugins.click_to_play= true) to a red square instead of a black one, and the "play" symbol (for plugins.click_to_play=false) to a green triangle/arrowhead instead of a black one. Old, tired eyes can have trouble distinguishing a small black square on a medium gray background from a small black triangle on a medium gray background.

This does work in SeaMonkey Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Click-to-play was changed completely in Firefox, but not in SeaMonkey. Fortunately, on-demand plugins are working the same way in SeaMonkey (per item).
This extension still does exactly what it says it does: it toggles click-to-play and reloads the page.

Bug: v23 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi!
I really loved this plug-in. Sadly, it doesn't work on Firefox 23 any more. Could you please fix it?
Cheers.

Firefox 23 changes some settings

Hello,Thank you for reporting this. In Firefox 23 you should set the plugins controlled by the button as "Ask to Activate" as described here : http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_plugins#Click_to_Play

Well, thank you very much. This exactly what I was looking for. Ooooops! Where's the button? Looking through the changes history, says you already fixed the no button in linux in version .5. I have version 1.0, no button. Oh man, if I could see the button, this *would* do exactly what I want...

Working in my Firefox

Could you tell me which distro you are running? It works perfectly fine on my Arch Linux with Firefox 22.

Cheers

Clean and simple with easy control over whether you want to watch a video/animation or not. This plugin provides the same functionality as Flash Control on Chrome. Be sure to also add the Click-to-play Manager if you want to toggle Click-to-play on an off from the menu bar. Well done guys! 5 stars.

Does exactly what I need it to do.

-1 star because the on/off indicator does not conform with other common Firefox buttons, i.e. greyed out when disabled, colourful when enabled.

Thank you for the suggestion.
Cheers

True to stated functionality Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It does what is stated, switching the status of the click-to-play plugin. This is all well and good, but disappointing in a setting of multiple tabs, where radio is playing from one, and youtube starts playing from another. Better to have a whitelist, or a per tab option/

Please add this Rated 3 out of 5 stars

would be excellent but has a missing operation makes the funcionality very irritating, a whitelist not constant, if you choose "always enabled" in one site, and later restart firefox may or may not continue remembering that option, it's annoying, apart lacks options where show the whitelist and blacklist (eg youtube, that sometimes you have to re click activate always)

There is no whitelist, it's just a switch to enable or disable the click-to-play. The goal is to leave the click-to-play always on except when it breaks page functionality, you can then disable it for a short time (it resets on browser restart, that's what you experienced).

Works great but... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

How do you edit the list of sites that are marked "always block?" I accidentally clicked this for one site that I want to remain click-to-play on each item. Now everything is blocked. The only way to get it working is to temporarily turn off Click-to-play.

There is no blacklist, it's just a switch to enable or disable the click-to-play. The goal is to leave the click-to-play always on except when it breaks page functionality, you can then disable it for a short time (it resets on browser restart).

Great add! Everyone must have this! Firefox is now significantly faster and it doesn't eat up my RAM in the same way anymore! Thank you.
