No updates for many months and not compatible with the latest Firefox. Best is to switch over to another addon such as LittleFox or MicroFox

Looks like other methods need to be used now Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The author has been absent for a year now. Ah well, these things are provided for free for little thanks... and then real life intervenes.

In the meantime, heavy customisation with the addon "Classic Theme Restorer", such as selecting square-topped tabs helps to reduce wasted space.

Then for the more technically minded, creating your own personal "userchrome.css" (google for that) can get rid of the rest of the wasted space. You do need to experiment with the options and personalise it for the way that you've customised your toolbars -- e.g.: my own userchrome.css contains this:

.toolbarbutton-1 { padding:1px 0px !important; }
toolbar { max-height: 32px !important; margin-top: -3px !important; }
#TabsToolbar { margin-top: -5px !important; }
#toolbar-menubar { margin-top: -5px !important; }

Rummaged through the internet, did not find the beta version. At least indicate the direction of the search. Google Translate.

Classic Compact New Version Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hello MotherDawg, please, would You be so kind and inform us a little bit more, where exactly could we find this newer version of Classic Compact "out there"?
Thank You so much in advance!

No need to freak out! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I'm sick of people that, the second it doesn't work flawlessly, they start blasting the work of others.
We pay big bucks to get the biggest screen we can buy. Real estate is valuable.
The least amount of space the actual app uses the better.
Classic Compact reduces everything to the bare minimum so you have only the important stuff on your screen: the web page.
Now, since version 30, Firefox is in the midst of a total rewrite so all theme and extension coders also have to rewrite their life's work. Please give them time. Some of them do have a life.
Also... if you use the Internet like a tool and not like a toy, you could find out that there is a newer version of Classic Compact out there. It is beta... that means "no support" plus... you have to have some knowledge to install it on FF31.
But it works nicely.

Compatibility issue on FF31.0 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I don't know why FF does not have a standard extensions module, where one does not have to change the extensions for each release. With 31.0 this extension is not working / feasible. I would love to have this in my system, as its definitely a useful extension. Why not firefox add it to their source similar to firefox sync, which once was an extension ?

This Has Been My Go To Theme; Moz Blew it With FF 29 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I just tried the CC 29 beta. There were just too many small issues to stay with it. I'm not at all upset with Ken; what I am upset with is Moz NEEDLESSLY changing the visual architecture of the browser and breaking MOST of the available themes. The new stock theme is AWFUL.

I am currently using a combination of MX3 and Classic Compatibility Options; It's the only one of the current themes I can live with at all. And it required quite a bit of customization before I was relatively content.

I hope Ken finds the time to deal with Moz's changes and bring CC back, I've used it for years.

To be truthful, the only thing preventing me from switching to Opera for my main browser is NoScript.

Moz, go back to the visual style of FF28, add the security patches to it and work on the memory hog aspect and issues with freezing while running scripts rather than messing up the look of the browser.

Always Incompatible Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This garbage never works, because it is always incompatible with the latest version of Firefox.

FF 29 + CC 29.0a1 beta + CTR works well Rated 5 out of 5 stars

As a long-time user, I get a little antsy every time Firefox upgrades in a way that breaks the Classic Compact theme. I am currently running Firefox 29 with the beta version of Classic Compact and it seem to be working quite well. I am also using the Classic Theme Restorer add-on, which helps in some ways. I am remiss in not yet contributing, but plan to rectify that once I obtain new employment.

Information about obtaining the Classic Compact beta (from Ken B, the author) is near the end of the messages on the Classic Compact Add-on Support page: see mzl.la/1mCOzfC.

Can't live without it Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for working on the FF 29 version! I am hereby donating $5 to the worthy cause.

FF29, No Thanks I'll stick to FF28.0b9 with CC Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Like most users of CC, I've use it since for the past 5years at least. The recent FF update of 29** has busted CC, so instead I've downgraded my FF to version 28.0b9 until Ken can get a work around which we all know he will. Unless of course Mozilla is intending to integrate CC into FF at some point?

Great extension, please make it work in FF29. FF is really ugly without CC!

Firefox Is Not Itself Without CC Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This theme is 90% of why I use Firefox. I'm going to be feeling a bit crazy until we get it back! Thanks to Ken for all the hard work, & no thanks to Moz for breaking it so badly with the unnecessary changes in 29.

Please Update for FF v.29 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Please Update.

FFox v29 is HORRIBLE please update Classic Compact. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Classic compact is excellent but Firefox 29 doesn't support it, I went back to v28 just to use Classic Compact because the default theme in Firefox 29 is H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E.

The ONLY theme I use for Firefox Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Firefox is the only browser I use, when I have a say in the matter. However its interface has all this empty space and it's spread out so that the tool bars take up so much of my screen. While I understand this helps usability for the average person, it frustrates me how much it takes away from the viewable space for the web pages I'm viewing. When I first happened upon Classic Compact, I fell in love. The first time it wasn't available right after a Firefox update, I was heartbroken. I actually dread, just a little, when Firefox does a major update because then I have to wait on the amazing developer to be able to update.

I'm addicted to this theme because it condenses the amount of space everything takes up in the tool bars by having smaller icons and the ability to adjust how much space is between the elements. I especially love that you can tweak and adjust to match your needs. I can make everything super tiny, or I can leave it just a little bigger on a work computer so my coworkers don't complain (as much) when they hop onto my machine to do something.
