a good thing that happened to Firefox! Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

In the past year Firefox performance has taken a big smackdown, and you'll notice this if you keep multiple tabs open in your usual, daily use (like me). FF stalling, sometimes freezing (where the browser turns white), trying to scroll a page and getting a 20 second lag (by which time that second scroll down you did after 10 seconds also now happens) is making the FF experience maddening. Quickjava allows you to turn off Flash, JS, etc which definitely helps. This is a great product but I would rather have Mozilla fix these annoying problems. I now use Chrome about half the time, the reason I stick with FF at all is I've become so accustomed to my add-ins over the years that I'm lost without them!

Thank you very much Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

Kind of a life changer

I've been using QuickJava for a number of years. Each year, it gives more granular, customizable control to its users. Along with rigorous security settings and smart habits, QuickJava is a great tool to lesson the chance of malware infecting your machine. Advice: think about how you setup QJ. It has extremely helpful features on start up, defaults, etc... QJ is another great protective tool while assisting a bit to keep what is private, private (hint: disable Flash, Silverblight, and even JS most the time).

This is the best extension I have ever installed, period. I am running Windows XP and have been plagued by plugin crashes, script errors, and general memory overloads that have wasted hours and hours of my time during the last several weeks. I have tried every tip and trick posted on the web and none of them worked. And then I stumbled upon QuickJava. I could not believe how quickly all of these issues were resolved and how much faster my internet speed was immediately (and I mean within seconds) after installing this extension. Just incredibly amazing and brilliant. Thank you so much!!!

THank you! Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

I've been driven mad by the problems of security needs and the forced use of Java for years!
This is great!
Thanks again.

Highly customizable; Also great for turning images on and off Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

Great add-on. Highly customizable. Also great for turning images on and off.

Great add on. Gives me the option of turning off javascript, Java or Flash with a toggle switch located near the address bar. It comes in really handy for iffy sites or debugging.

Easiest way to enable or disable Javascript and more . . . Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

Javascript was apparently turned off during my last Firefox update. Now that the newest version of Firefox has deleted "Enable Javascript" from Options, I spent several hours fruitlessly researching how to re-enable Javascript. Finally found QuickJava which worked perfectly. Within 5 minutes I had installed QuickJava and re-enable Javascript. I'd highly recommend QuickJava.

:)

I have no idea why they removed that option, but it certainly increased the popularity of QJ. I'm glad it was able to help you get back to a working state.

Some suggestion (request) Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

It is very useful and almost perfect addon for me.

For me, two things lacking in options:
- useragent switcher (default / latest mobile Firefox)
- color schema switcher (default / black-white)

What I manually set with:
with general.useragent.override
with browser.display.use_document_colors

Thanks, so much!

Feature requests - Response

Feature requests should be put in the GitHub (linked on the support site), however I will say that both of those are outside the scope of this extension so they will not be implemented. The good news is there are plenty of other options for extensions that do those things already :)

Awesome addon! Easy to use and effective. Good for slow Internet connections.

This is exactly what I need. Small and simple. My only wish would be for a whitelist feature.

This has potential Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

This add-on has potential, but the fact that I cannot move the buttons to anywhere I like turned me off on this add-on, allowing the ability to move the buttons or remove them individually and this add-on would be perfect in my opinion.

Armed with this new info (thank you Dev!!) this add-on gets 5 stars!!

It has this functionality

You can customize your toolbar and put any of the icons anywhere you want (google for help on this if needed). The icons in the 'add-on' bar are depreciated (since the add-on bar has been depreciated by Mozilla) but remain there for the users who want to use it still. You can turn off all of the add-on bar icons by hiding them (in the options, right click any icon to get to options) and then just use the customize feature in firefox.

Firefox 30.0 ...

At the moment I use 21 Firefox add-ons. If I were allowed to keep only one, it would be QuickJava. It blocks so many annoying things, it allows you to pick and choose what to block and what to allow, and it does all the above with a minimum of fuss.

Praise, thanks, works fine in FF29.0 (and usability gripe 29.0) Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

Still works nicely with Awstralis, I'm relieved to say.
One of the essentials.
Much praise and Thank you.

I have put the [JS] button on the nav bar (for emergencies!), and the [QJ] button in the new C̶r̶o̶m̶e̶ FF tweak panel.

That nav bar is going to fill up very quickly with status indicators!! I hope all indicator icons I use there will soon have a 'microscopic' option. (It seems to be a mozilly decision to insist on biggish icons.)

One small usability gripe is that one can only change one option at a time in the [QJ]v drop-down; I change any one setting and FF bounces me out again, so I have to dig my way back down to change the next.
I suspect this too is more a FF usability imposition than anything else (?).

Even more confusing is that if I click the [QJ] itself, it toggles all settings but one never sees the change (because again, FF immediately bounces me out) - I would have to dig down again into FF tweaks if I wanted to check the status, but I guess I trust it by now (probably a bad decision...).

Also, it isn't explicit that right-click on the [QJ] will bring one to the hidden QJ option panel, something one finds by guesswork. For new users it might be advantageous to have an explicit "options" choice in the drop-down. It's moot.

btw, what does "reload on change" mean?
Am I being dense or have I missed some documentation somewhere? (Reload what to what on change of what?)

One further question - when I toggle JS (or J) to 'off', does it actually stop/kill the relevant background processes, or does the setting apply only to new instances?
My preference would be for killing off rogues in the backbround.

Typically the review section shouldn't be used for asking questions, in the future please use the support site, github issues tracking and/or Contact Me option on the support site.

1) Yes, FF limits the types of buttons you can use and the dropdown automatically closes. When you click the QJ icon it should change colors to indicate the status of ALL of the items, the only time it doesn't do this is if not all of the items are the same status in which case it indicates On with a "!" next to it.

You could try using the custom style piece to remove padding and change the font size smaller to get smaller buttons.

The extension description clearly states in the Usage section that right clicking any visible QJ icon will display an ability to get into the options. There is also a menu for "Help and FAQ" and the main support site which answers some of your other questions (such as "reload on change"). Some settings apply immediately (such as CSS and I believe J,F & SL), while others apply to the next page load (such as JS, Images), these are controlled by the browser (JS used to be immediate) which is why I give you the option to reload the page on a change.

Broke in Firefox 29 Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

An amazing and very useful add-on, but Firefox 29 broke it.
In addition to removing the add-on bar, forcing QuickJava to clutter the single control bar instead of sitting unobstructingly in its rightful place, it also made it not work at all:
All options now appear disabled all the time, and won't change when clicked.

"Refresh icons" doesn't work.

Edit: Enabling/disabling images does seem to work when one refreshes the page, though there is no feedback at all on the icon itself. It never updates, not even with "Refresh icons", and that applies both to the toolbar and to the horrendous new Firefox menu.

Edit2: And now after rebooting Firefox, it appears to work.

Strange, I've been using it in FF29 for weeks now without issues and other users have also been using it. I'm not sure what fixed it but at least it is working for you now. Please note that the review section is not valid for bug reports, please use the github repository from the website for issues reporting/tracking.

Hello,

I'm sure some of us know about the JS fail suddenly across Gecko engines. Well this plugin works to re-enable JavaScript if need be including CID. Of course, this was a last ditch effort to secure my knowledge and moved on (back) to CD (Webkit.) It was a nice 2.5 - 3 decades Mozilla. Farewell.

Thank you.
