This plugin adds the ability to compose and send SMS text messages with the same type of interface that Thunderbird uses to compose and send e-mail messages. Note: Only South African mobile networks are currently supported.
Text messages can be sent to individual- or multiple recipients at once, either by entering the destination numbers directly or simply typing the recipient's name and letting Thunderbird's address book fill in the rest for you. Standard Thunderbird mailing lists may also be used to easily and quickly send SMS messages to hundreds of users at once.
SMS messages are sent using Flash Media Group's TMS communications platform, and cost far less than sending an SMS message from your phone. You need to register an account with TMS in order to use this service. Only South African mobile networks are currently supported.
