Good little add-on, but would be great if you could bring back the pre-40 grey background.
TO AVOID SPYWARE AND ADWARE, AVOID NEWER VERSIONS/ GET THE 4.0.5 Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
Install or reinstall instead the 4.0.5, which appears still to be working, at least on YT (just checked). This is the last version before the current plague of garbage. I've been ignoring all the updates since 12/2013.
The 4.0.5 is still available.
Note: the adware problem I reported in one of my previous reviews, for the 4.0.1, (pop-up for Vine Video Project from FVD) was taken care of and is not present in the 4.0.5. As far as I can tell, the 4.0.5 is the last "clean" version.

Not seeing any way to edit my previous review. Want to add that it is outrageous that EFF is supporting this behavior, whereby cookies (notably Google cookies, some of which are meant explicitly for tracking, are changed from blocked to allow completely without the consent of the user. Not just from the standpoint of not getting permission from the user to unblock those cookies, but that it specifically involves allowing cookies from privacy invading-tracking, Google, this add-on, despite its purported intentions, is privacy invasive.
I installed an add-on thinking that it would prevent tracking, and it ended up doing just the opposite. Incredible that EFF, known for being on a mission to protect privacy is doing this.
They have obviously known about this for some time and have simply chosen to ignore it.
Also quite surprised that EFF has not seen fit to reply to my review or the similar comments of anyone else --there are several others--regarding this issue.

Watch out if you have any cookies (especially Google) blocked in Cookies->Exceptions. PB is responsible for constantly and involuntarily changing blocked cookies to allow first party. See https://github.com/EFForg/privacybadgerfirefox/issues/103
Apparently this has never been fixed. Drove me nuts until I found that GitHub page. I had to remove this add-on.
Someone else below has also written "Beware, this extension automatically adds websites like youtube, google and many others to your 'cookie exceptions -> allow first-party', without notice."
Very weird that this is happening from privacy minded EFF, since Google cookies, especially the notorious Google PREF ID, are responsible for data redirects back to Google.
Icon disappears with latest 1.2.1 Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles
Title says it all. Not to be found anywhere, even from items iin customize. Also, but not unique to this update, toggle buttons don't do anything except appear and disappear when clicked on.
Re. DNTM loading ad page Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
"by Abine, Inc., the online privacy company (Developer) on July 28, 2014 · permalink · translate
Hello - I do understand your concerns, downloading a piece of privacy software and then seeing a constant advertisement for that software would be concerning to anyone.
I handle a lot of our support and I've never heard of a user reporting that issue before, and I can assure you that it is not intentional. I will escalate that issue to our engineering team ASAP.
To be sure you've completely removed DoNotTrackMe, please go to tools>addons>extensions, and make sure DNTMe is not present in your extensions folder."
I already said that I do not have DNTM, nor any other Abine extensions, installed. I did have DNTM several years ago, but I absolutely removed all traces of it. Not only did I remove it in the Add-ons Manager, but also in prefs.js, in the Firefox default profile folder. It is nowhere to be seen. Nothing, gone, no trace of it, obliterated.
Anyway, that was several years ago and this just started recently.
Besides that, it happened also from a completely new, clean profile, where DNTM was never installed.
Abine/DNTM spamming full page ad in new tab after updating extensions Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
The following was the reply here from Abine to my earlier review about an unwanted full page ad loading from DNTM/Abine: "Hello -- we are devoted to privacy and I do apologize for any obnoxious product behaviors. I'm not quite sure I know what full page advertising you're referring to. If you'd like me to help you stop that popup, email me :olivia at abine dot com and I can assist you further."
After seeing the latest review about Abine spamming e-mail, I don't think I will take the chance to give my e-mail address to Abine. But it happened again, upon updating several add-ons and restarting Firefox. This is the third time the same full page ad loaded.
It is not a pop-up, it is a full page ad that loads in a new tab.
Title of page: "DoNotTrackMe How it Works" URL: https://www.abine.com/donottrackme.html
Since I don't have DNTM installed, nor do I have any other Abine extensions, I can only think that Abine has a deal with some other add-on that spawns this thing, or, much less likely, it is happening by way of some glitch in the Mozilla extensions update/restart process, and only occurs with certain configurations of extensions.
Abine (or Mozilla--but again, I strongly doubt that the problem is with Mozilla) should be able to figure out how to stop this crap, and they should stop it immediately. Hard to believe it's not intentional, not under their control or that they need my help to find out how to stop it.

Re. DNTM/Abine loading a full page advertisement (unable to edit further after logging out. Please see previous review.) This behavior should not be tolerated from any Add-on, but especially coming from a company that describes itself as devoted to privacy, it is particularly obnoxious.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (3.2.1127.1-signed). I don't have DNTM installed. Full page ad for DNTN just started coming up when I update my extensions and restart. This is not cool and should stop at once. Can brienning, who said this has also been happening, please say which extension was the culprit.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (3.2.1127.1-signed).
The install from github is working great now Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Working fine now. Doesn't appear inside a box, and stays greyed out until activity. Thanks for this Add-on.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1-signed). Cet utilisateur a une revue précédente sur ce module.
Very unstable-keeps disappearing Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
Keeps disappearing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times, and it keeps vanishing eventually each time. Useless as it is. If if were present reliably, would be much better if it appeared only on activity, and not taking up toolbar
space until a page is loading.
Got the zip from github, Throbber-Restored-1-master. How to install?
Has stopped showing notification with FF 28 Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles
Nice little Add-on, but "Success" notification needs to be fixed. FF 28
I have disabled, removed and reinstalled with no change in this.
Now incompatible and disabled Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
Incompatible with FF 26 and disabled Please update ASAP. Ordinarily would give it 5 stars.
Now comes with junk Adware Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
Not only is the download button completely unreliable, but now this Add-on has started spamming me with a small pop-up
"Vines Video Compilation, Check out new Vine Video Project from FVD Downloader Team! Visit Website"
Download button in 4.0.1 still playing hide and seek Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
Firefox 24/FVD 4.0.1 Download button still disappearing in YouTube. I have used this Add-on for years, but it has now become very unreliable.
4.0.1 DID NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM

New 4.0 Download button still playing hide and seek Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
Download button still playing hide and seek on YouTube/Firefox 24. Quitting and reopening appears to bring it back. But very annoying behavior.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (18.104.22.168-signed). Cet utilisateur a d'autres revues sur ce module.
3.9.6 No longer working on YouTube Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
Or should say it is working erratically. Download button disappearing, but clearing the cache and cookies in Firefox 24 seems to get it going again.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (22.214.171.124-signed).
Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Great little Add-on. Indispensable, and it's now working again with Firefox 24.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (2.3.1-signed).
New version directs to Abine.com Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles
This is an excellent Add-on, but I don't like the new version 1.0.0 automatically bringing me to Abine.com for advertising purposes. Whether or not Abine.com is for profit or not is beside the point. This shouldn't be happening.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (126.96.36.199-signed).
