To all who are struggling to find options page... Noté 3 sur 5 étoiles

Here is how you can customize the pop up

via Vivek Ghidliyal

To all who are struggling to find options page...
Drag the dictionary button from firefox's customize toolbar into firefox(Enable it) then click options from there.
Cheers:-)

Great extension, but could use a bit of refinement Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

Great and very useful extension. I would like to see some choices as to how the pop-up appears and under what circumstances. Just double-clicking a word is not always the best choice. Perhaps Shift+right click or something a bit more deliberate would be better. Sometimes I just highlight words on web pages for reasons other than dictionary look-up.

REQUEST:
After clicking on the meaning of the word, open the new tab not at the end but next to the current active tab

Needs updating Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles

This used to be a favorite extension of mine, but obviously the development hasn't kept pace with FF updates.

Unacceptably intrusive Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles

It's almost great... in fact if there were any configurable options I'm sure I could easily tweak it to not be in my face all the time. Every time you highlight a word it assumes you need a definition!!! Holy cow, it's out of control.

Pretty lame Noté 2 sur 5 étoiles

Seems like it's broken to me. Under the Tools menu, none of the options work (options, help, about). So you can't customize it at all.

A needed one, but sadly Unstable! Sometimes it shows up and some time it is not! Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles

Just sucks ! Gets installed, shows up for the first time, then if there a browser restart and woop, nothing is either in tools menu or the button ! Both goes away !This is an add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/firecrypt which works with a solid, stable window and the button stays intact wherever I put it. If Popup Dictionary uses something similar I would be able to rate it as 5 star. Until then, 1 STAR.

Good Stuff Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

Too bad it drops the Acid3 test score, but overall it's good.

Very useful! Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

The add-on is very helpful and the best part is you no more have to copy paste the text on the search bar and look for the meaning on google any more, its just 2 clicks away. Yes, there can be improvements like selecting two words that have a split but mean the same together and also where double clicks are needed the add-on appears distracting the user, three clicks to a meaning search would be great. But all in all a very very useful add-on specially for people who read a lot. Thank You!

What if I don't know a word in the pop-up window? Noté 3 sur 5 étoiles

Google's official extension for Chrome opens a pop-up panel the same way. But if you select/click a word on that pop-up window, the panel updates to show the meaning of this second word. This feature is critical for English learners.

I was able to make it work Noté 2 sur 5 étoiles

Unfortunately I need to drop my rating back to two stars because it stopped working for me again. I am not going to reset Firefox every time, it is a disruptive procedure after all with restoration of all preferences and settings, so will need to do without this convenient add-on (if it was working). My Firefox is 26.0.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Solved the problem outlined below. On all of my computers I needed to go to the Troubleshooting information under the Help menu and Reset FireFox. After reinstalling all my add-ons, Dictionary.com add-on started working again. Still keeping at four stars as I struggled with this problem for a while and the staff did not seem to know or care to point out to this simple solution. Below is my initial feedback.-------------------------------------------------------I used to like this add-on until at some point a few month ago it stopped working. Double clicking the word only highlights the word but no pop-up. I have several laptops and it does not work on any of them. I use Firefox 25.0.1 that updates automatically. Please let me know if there are any security settings or other installed applications that could prevent it from working. Thank you.

Drops acid3 test by 3 points Noté 3 sur 5 étoiles

Good addon but unfortunately I won't use this due to the drop in acid3 test score.

Simple, neat and fast Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

Fast English definitions displayed in a pop-up without clutter. Unobtrusive, fast and without leaving current page. The most efficient way to look up a definition with minimal distraction.

Looks better than the Dictionary Tooltip add-on which has more dictionaries (since it does not belong to a dictionary website) but is no longer being developed and is not working smoothly anymore. Faster than using the search bar or other dictionary add-ons activated using the context menu.

Limitations:
1. Does not work in text fields. For instance, if you are writing a review or email and want to look up the definition of a word you intend to use.
2. It only activates by double-clicking single words. For instance, you would not be able to look up the definition of "free rider" or "total recall" (both available on their website).

Suggestions:
1. Selecting text should activate a translucent icon before displaying definition. Clicking on the icon would then display the definition pop-up. This would provide more control and remain out of the way when copying text.
2. Fix limitations above.

Bottom line: It is a great dictionary tool despite its limitations. Very productive tool.

Recommended add-ons:
Quick Translation - for fast translations in pop-ups between multiple languages
Dictionary Lookup Extension - to lookup definitions of words in text fields and definitions of multiple words

Note: Dictionary Pop-up is incompatible with the Menu Editor add-on (Dictionary Pop-up will not work). However, it is compatible with Menu Editor 2 which has the same functionality.

Downloaded, installed.. still no idea how to get it to work! Neither do I see any customise option, nor does double clicking do anything.. please help!

Doubleclick on a word & how to get to the options page

If the extension is installed just doubleclick on a word on any web page to see the Dictionary.com pop-up appear with the definition inside. It works on Windows & Mac (Linux is unsupported for now).

For options, click on the Dictionary.com extension icon and you'll see our search box appear - there is a link in the popup called "options"...click on that to see the options panel. We'll be improving access to options in a future release.

EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED... A+++! Very good addon.

Fantastic add-on Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

Exactly what I was looking for and even better!
Also a plus is the no-restart installation. I definitely recommend it.

Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

BEST dictionary add-on in my opinion!
Even better than the dictionary application on Macbooks, because this one is just a pop up and doesn't require you to have another window open. However, you can still choose to open the definition in a new window if you wanted to.
It's so quick and easy.
THIS ONE GETS THE GOLD.

Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

On double-click it pops up a box that I can customize, and I *love* that it can include synonyms.

Didn't even force a FF restart.

GREAT! BUT... Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

Please could you make it work with other dictionaries like French?

Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

Great extension with simple and nice interface. It simply shows definition with nicely designed tool-tip window. Only critique would be that missing of other dictionaries like German, French etc.
