Thanks for the info about version 0.1. Do you know where I can download that older version? I can't find anything via Goggle other than the current version. Thanks! (Rating is for the previously functional version.)
Edited on 2014-05-16 to add: Thanks, idno0001, for reminding me about the "complete version history" downloads! I re-installed version 0.8 AND turned off automatic updates. Old Compose now works as it should, once again. Whew!
I've been using DictionarySearch for years and rely on so much that if it had remained incompatible in FF8, I would've stayed with the insecure FF 7.0.1. Unfortunately, even after incrementing the maxVersion from 7.* to 8.* in its install.rdf, Mac FF8 still would not declare DictionarySearch compatible. Thanks to Steven's suggestion on 11/14/11 (below), I added Mozilla's Add-on Compatibility Reporter extension, followed its procedure for testing and deeming extensions compatible, and DictionarySearch is now functional once again. Whew! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (7.0.0).
Changing the version number in the install.rdf file as described in ryden's (and others') instructions lets Eraser work fine FF5 (Mac version, at least). See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/eraser-13009/reviews/276602/ for details.
I prefer Eraser to similar add-ons (like Privacy Protector) because clicking on the icon in the Navigation Toolbar does -not- open a pop-down window that requires another mouse-click or keystroke. Eraser just does its thing according to the Preference settings with no additional input. Hence the 5 stars, even though it hasn't been officially updated in quite a while.
Changing the version number in the install.rdf file as described in tmtisfree's (and others') instructions below still works fine for me in the Mac version of FF5. (See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/openbook/reviews/273168/ for details. ) I'm thrilled that I can still use this add-on! I hate FF's Add Bookmark dialog box as it is — which is why I'm giving OpenBook five stars even though it hasn't been updated for quite a while. This user has a previous review of this add-on.

Works on Mac for me, too, in Tiger (v10.4.11), with FF3.5.3.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.9).
