Dead add-on Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Completely buggy, no multiprocess e10s tag, prompting "Fail to write content/metadata. Would you like to disable recoll now?"
Who pays you for omitting necessary updates ?
Everyone knows that this functionality is urgendly required, especially for Firefox bookmarks.
This makes the surfing experience with firefox worse.
Go on like this and keep moving your users to Chrome.

UNBELIEVABLE !!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hello Guys. It's REALLY very very interesting. I see A LOT of people have requested this add-on to get updated and compatible with new versions of Firefox, but NOBODY GIVES A LITTLE DAMN ABOUT THESE REQUESTS SINCE 3 YEARS AGO !!!! AND THE MORE INTERESTING IS THAT THERE'S NOT EVEN "ONE" OTHER SINGLE ADD-ON IN THE FIREFOX LIBRARY WHICH DOES THE SAME THING !!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!! And that's why so many people prefer Chrome, BECAUSE YOU CAN FIND "ANY" ADD-ON WHICH YOU CAN THINK OF, IN CHROME LIBRARY ! I'm really Soooooo disappointed with Firefox :(((

Awesome. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Amazing extension. One of my favourites. Allows you to find those webpages that you know you visited a week or so ago, but can't quite recall. Much better than the default history in Firefox which only lets you sort by dates and unhelpful searches.

Please make it work for Firefox 25+!

This needs an update, please don't let it die, as of firefox 23 it stopped working. It's not an ideal search engine as other reviews say, but it IS better than the default engine.

Not "advanced" by any measure Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I want to list all **sites** I've visited where the page title contains "review" and I visited it in the last 7 days. This addon can't do that. It does manage to combine "7 days" and a keyword, which is already more than the even more lame built-in history search can do, but this doesn't help at all because you can't sort by location and you about 3 pages worth' (the full history is much larger than that). Disappointing.

Forms/scrolling bug Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Works well enough, but I've found I strange bug.Moving the recall monkey icon from the add-on bar to the navigation toolbar kills text entry to forms and scrolling on web pages.

Mediocre advanced search Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The detailed results are very helpful, but the search options are very limited. Most notable is the lack of custom date ranges ("I know I visited that Web site last Wednesday") and the ability to exclude related keywords (e.g. glass -eyeglass still displays all of the sites about eyeglasses). If you look at the advanced search options in Google, you'll get a better idea of some of the features I'd like to see added.

I like this extension a lot.

However, I'm reinstalling everything pretty much from scratch, and this is the second time where I have run into a site that does NOT make it obvious exactly WHERE to click to download the extension.

I would like the authors to think about this on their sites. I use Infolister and upload my configuration to my FTP site every time I make a change, and that gives me the home page for the extension. You don't have to drone on and on, I've been sold to install the extension, show me visually in a quick manner where to download it. A text link that says here after paragraph and paragraph (of other links) is not consumer friendly.

And then there are the ones that want you to solve an impossible to solve captcha to install the extension, which is a REAL WTF.

I'm venting, but I've been dealing with failing hardware (hence the complete reinstall of everything) for a week.

But I do love the ability of this to narrow down my search so much, without trying to determine whether I saw a keyword in the URL or the title.

Hence the five stars.

Over a long period of use..I can't really see the point of this. It's no different to the default history feature of firefox.
The search is slow. There's no filtering other than date (which exists in history search).

and after removing the addon, the ctrl+shift+m shortcut remains despite there being nothing to open.

A nice little extension, which has potential. History searching has been seen with google for example, so there is a real need for it to become the norm & integrated.
Speaking of integration, I don't think that the address bar & two styles of shortcut are required when it could simply have been included in the search bar as a permanent home.

I have found that the history search that ships with firefox works much better.
What firefox is missing is able to search the html content of web pages.

I've been trying recall monkey for a month now it hasn't got me a single hit.
Also for just an advanced search I dont get the use of prioritize/exclude

It may be that I am not using this correctly.

Prioritize/exclude promotes or excludes results from a set of (sub)domains that you can select. It does not index the page content, but it searches through titles and URLs. Try making sure you have a recent version, v21 is the latest.

Fills a gap in Firefox Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This excellent add-on finally allows one to rapidly search the copious amount of data hidden away in the history and the bookmarks database (especially important for unsorted bookmarks, aka 'starred pages'). While the awesome bar already does this, sometimes you need more search results than there is space for there, and would like to filter. Well done, and keeps getting better!

Really cool and helpful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been watching this project for a while now, and the new features looked appealing so I figured that it was time to give it a go again.
At first I thought that this is basically the Awesome bar in a tab, and in some ways it is, but i like it. I like being able to zoom in. I like the filtering options. I really like being able to retrieve local files that I've opened in Firefox, especially those that I have on my additional hard drives (saves a whole lot of clicks).
I like the continuous result and the speed too.

I'm not quite sure if I like links opening in a new tab or not yet. An option to open in the current tab would be nice.
Also, if Recall Monkey is already open, pinned, etc, clicking on the icon or using the keyboard shortcut should focus the already opened instance and not create a new one.
Otherwise, it's a useful add-on.

Great work and thanks for developing it.

Extremely satisfied so far. The search is quite fast and only produces a blip on the CPU unlike the regular history search, which is comparatively slower when reaching for the same input as in Recall Monkey.
I am also satisfied to know that it doesn't depend on online components so it's safer and more reliable if disconnected (for references while writing a paper for example).

Just a tiny issue, the date narrowing works fine, but there is a little visual glitch as seen here, the radio button doesn't update to the selected option.

As for the date narrowing, it'd be really nice to have a X days setting for things like 45 days or so. It'd be really helpful.

Another little thing. This is practically meaningless for users that can customize the menus or know their hotkeys, but it'd be nice to move the menu entry from "File" to "History", but it's a minor nitpick.

Oh, and closing up, is it possible to have to use search keywords or have it as a search engine (like google/yahoo/youtube/etc and such)? The former would be great for keyword nuts like me, and having it listed as an opensearch engine would allow programs that interact with firefox's search engines (by scanning the relevant folders, such as quicksilver-like Kupfer, or even quicksearching from the search bar or right-clicking words) to perform quick history searches from them. That would elevate the usefulness much further.
(BTW I tried the keyword method, but I only get a snow-white screen...)

Thanks for all the feedback! The radio buttons glitch is now fixed. I originally started out with a time slider that let you pick "start" and "end dates", but a dragging UI is slower than a clicking one, and so we went to this, and adding more options there is a simplicity vs. power thing but we're keeping our options open so we can have the best of both worlds.

I'll move it to history soon, and we're also looking into speeding up the process of getting to recallmonkey - either as a search engine or part of AwesomeBar HD, but that might be a while.

It seems useful. In 5 minutes you don't really have much chanve to test it properly. ;)
Right now it's at least promising.

@Wraithofwind: Locally, I guess, based on that Mozilla didn't scrap dedicated search bar in order to keep search suggestions in the UI but not have every URL and character sent of to Google.
