Why was Nostalgy created?
Before Thunderbird, I was using text-mode mail clients such as pine and mutt, and I was quite happy with them. At some point, I wanted to switch to a GUI client, mostly to improve the experience with attachments. Thunderbird seemed like a good choice, but I quickly realized that I lost a lot of productivity by having to click-click-click instead of just using the keyboard. Dispatching messages by drag-and-drop when you have hundreds of folders is really not working that well. So I decided to write Nostalgy!
What's next for Nostalgy
Users have submitted quite a lot of interesting suggestions and I plan to implement some of them, and also look at performance issues when people have huge number of folders. I tend to work on Nostalgy in batch: once in a while, I find a few hours to spend on this project and try to do as much as I can.
