Super useful but hides all emails Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The add-on is *very* useful and allows me to easily set up reminders to follow-up on some email.

Unfortunately, when the add-on is enabled, some of my mailboxes can no longer display the emails in their folder. When I select a folder, the email list is shown briefly (for 1-3 seconds), then the list goes blank. Saved searches work as workaround, yet I have no idea how to debug this.

Memory and hang issues Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Sadly, after using it for a few weeks, I have to disable it as it makes my memory footprint jump from <1GB to 4GB and i've experienced a lot of hangs with it.
I wonder how mailmindr stores the data on which emails to remind on which may lead to this for users with large mailboxes?

Sorry for the inconvenience

Hi Itamar,

sorry for the issues you had with mailmindr.

Currently I'm rewriting the whole AddOn to address these issues. I'm behind the schedule, but there will be a new version within this year (not that fast, you're right). So if you have a wishlist what you expect from mailmindr in the future: just let me know; there's a facebook page and, of course, the mail address

For the technical details you asked: check your Thunderbird profile folder. There's a file mailmindr.sqlite which contains all the remindrs. mailmindr will only store the time for the reminder and refers to the particular email via a stored messageID.

Does this answer your questions?

Very useful - just a pity there is an icon problem Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a very useful addon ! A timesaver in mail follow-up.

Just a pity there is an icon problem : the icon which can be dragged to the mailheader toolbar, doesn't have a graphic, it's just a small empty button.

Actually I'm on TB 52.4.0 (32bit) and am sure the problem existed in TB 51.1.1 but don't know in what TB-version it started.

Is this recognizable ?

I contacted the author several times about this, without luck.

I remember, a while ago, the mailredirect addon had the same problem. Tha author reverted a Windows XP styling for the addon, and everything was ok.

DANKE!!! Das hat (wirklich) gefehlt :-) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi devs. Is this extension still alive?
Any updates / fixes planed?

It would be great if this awesome ext. would:
- be able to work with threads [multiple selected emails]
- can catch "response" emails and remove reminder if response come
- provide option to only flag / popup option without moving messages

Thanks for your review + questions

Thanks for your review and your questions. As you posted the same on mailmindrs facebook page, I decided to post the answer over there:

very good and demanded addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm a big fan of Google Inbox and use this addon as the closest analog.
It's almost perfect for me, just needs a few enhancements:
1. Add the timespans like "Next monday at 11 a.m."
2. Change order of User defined timespans (like Move Up/Move Down)
3. Maybe hold the resubmitted messages in a virtual folder.
THANKS a lot!

Almost perfect Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A real great tool. The only thing preventing me from donating is that I can't re-plan a popped up reminder. I mean you can edit planned reminders but only until the due date. When that is reached it is shown in the popup box but you cannot re-schedule it which is so much necessary for me..

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent idea and excellent implementation. Thank you!

(Perhaps a keyboard shortcut would be useful

edit: Yes, CTRL+SHIFT+W works great on linux too - good stuff. Thanks again)

Thank you - and actually there *is* a shortcut

Thank you for your comment and the 5-star-rating!
If you haven't already recognized: there *is* a shortcut for setting a reminder. It's CMD+SHIFT+W (on Mac) and CTRL+SHIFT+W (on Windows). Does this fit your needs?

This Plug-In is so useful, and works again! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I used this plug-in and basically depended on it, until it stopped working with Thunderbird 45. I just noticed that it was recently updated, and it is working again! I am very happy about this! Thank you!

I will give more details later on comments on usability as I start using it again, because this is an already great plug-in that has great potential.

Great plugin for Inbox Zero lovers Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The plugin is just great: simple to use and gets the job done. Unfortunately it stopped working with Thunderbird 45 :(

Useful as a complement to the calendar Rated 4 out of 5 stars

After receiving or sending an e-mail, it is easy to add a "resubmission" and it works properly. However, when I'm composing an e-mail (writing text or adding attachments) if I add a "resubmission", it becomes visible only after restarting the Thunderbird. Is it normal?

Schlecht dokumentiert und zerstört die Inbox Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Super! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Useful, but a little bit invasive Rated 3 out of 5 stars

After trying an outdated version, the developer came up quickly with an update. (Thanks!)
The add-on is based on a very good idea, something that is missing in standard e-mail protocol/RFC. On TB39, its widget has a nasty yellow background (still). Would be nice, if user could change its placement (fixed under folder tree) and appearance (at least colour). And the Resubmission button with the logo is almost the biggest one of all in the action bar. It would be better placed in the "More" dropdown menu close to the Delete/Junk/Answer buttons close to the message display.
It is working well though. The question is now, how to gain confidence that it really works. A small (yellow) list of resubmit-items helps to monitor this, in case you do not trust the add-on yet and have some important reminder scheduled.
Possibilities to schedule resubmittal are quite flexible (1 hour, 2 hours, …, 1 days, 2 days, …, user defined). Though the possible actions (flag, remind, flag and flag again) are rather limited, and it would be desirable to have the possibility to move, copy among folders and the like.
Another question is how this will work with TB on different machines. Is a reminder tag added to the message header, and my TB instance at home will react on reminders applied in the office?
Finally, I have to note a little instability when using it for the first time on TB38 (not reproducible). The first reminder went awry, when it popped up the window. I clicked on "Dismiss", reminds again, "Dismiss all", reminds again, "Dismiss", remind, "Dismiss all" really!, remind, … Kill Thunderbird.

Top Addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm so happy about this addon, missed this feature a long time. All features are configurable, as far as i need it.

One suggestion:
If you select "Never show" for the list of reminders ("Lister der nächsten Wiedervorlagen anzeigen"), it would be nice to see any information about a needed restart of Thunderbird.

Only thing i missed:
Make it configurable to hide the Message-Popup, when a resubmitted email arrives.

Thanks for your review!

Thank you, that you spend some time in order to write down a review for mailmindr. For your suggestion and your missing feature: can you please send an email to hello (at) mailmindr . net? Again, thank you :)

Time Line for Update Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I know an update is in the works. When do you think it will be available? Great program/add-on for Thunderbird!!!!

Also, here's my wishlist (take it for what it's worth):

*a recurring reminder would be good (can't remember if that's already included, but I don't recall seeing it).

*A month calendar pop up when choosing a date to review

Dear Developer,
This is the most useful add on for Thunderbird and works perfectly. Does the job very neatly and without a fuss.

It however has stopped working on Thunderbird 38 onward. Can you please update this for the latest version of Thunderbird.

Many thanks.

Thanks for this great review - update is on its way

Thank you for your review. An update for Thunderbird 38 is on its way, with several bug fixes, so keep auto-update enabled in order to get the new version as soon as possible.

Sehr nützlich, Bug in der Kalender Darstellung Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Funktioniert prima.

Wunderbar and very useful: Viele Danke.

One need: have the overlayMessageCompose optional, since the code is clear and sond it was very easy to patch your code canceling the display, but this may be put as an option in preference.
