My Reviews

Download Streamable Video

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Extension sends me to a Cloud Server website that doesn't do anything.

Error 504 Ray ID: 3dcdcc6f712a2555 • 2018-01-14 04:19:42 UTC

Not worth my time. Uninstalling extension. Leaving a 1-star rating.

Video DownloadHelper

Was a great add-on now it's a mess Rated 2 out of 5 stars

The interface is cluttered, the video downloads are iffy, and I don't like it any more. So I uninstalled it.

Prevent Out Of Virtual Memory Crashes

Surprisingly enough this works... a bit. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

After installing, go to ADD-ONS MANAGER, turn OFF "Restart Firefox Automatically".
That setting is, by default, ON, and with it on, this Add-On is irritating garbage. By default, that setting should be set to OFF when installed.

Next up. Change FIREFOX MEMORY THRESHOLD (MB) to be below 14000.
I recommend setting it at = 500 (MB). At 1.5 GB (or 15000 MB) Cruddy Firefox freezes for 3 minutes at a time & crashes when it eats up your Virtual Memory after it finishes off eating up 1.5 GB of WORKING SET memory (garbage browser).

The memory is freed when it hits that limit. It BARELY helps, but this Firefox Extension does decrease the number of crashes and other standard (since Firefox v3.6 inane incompetent memory handling issues) by a whopping 25%.

Now if these settings I just listed were DEFAULT, people would use this extension far more.

The last IDIOTIC thing to remove is the ICON for this program in the Menu Bar of Firefox, but if you click-drag it while editing icons, it automatically restarts Firefox, preventing this action from being taken. If you click the icon for this extension for ANY REASON, it restarts Firefox because that is how programming incompetence works, no dialog box, no hint, just BOOM - Retarda-Restart.
(UPDATE) It looks like FIREFOX v45.0 actually manages to ignore click-drag icon restarts. So if you go to the three horizontal lines on the Menu Bar, click "CUSTOMIZE", then drag the "Accidentally click this useless icon" BOOM-RESTART icon for this Add-On, you can remove it FINALLY.

Which brings up one more thing, the "Reminder text" which says, "Firefox has X contiguous Virtual Memory free, Firefox should be restarted", annoyance nag. Disable that by default or give me a click-box to disable it in the Add-on Settings for this Extension and my opinion will improve.

I give this extension a 1-star rating for all the "DEFAULT FAIL" settings and the inane icon-click response. But since it actually BARELY works and reduces the lousy browser, Firefox's crash-hangs by a usable 25%, I bump that up to 2-stars. Fix those issues and I will improve my ratings.

Of course Firefox, by default ignores any VIRTUAL MEMORY settings in About:Config even though it should adhere to them, which is why this extension exists in the first place.

Download Manager (S3)

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It's okay, but V3.11.1 lacks a RESUME button for downloads that stop mid-download (for Firefox, usually it happens CONSTANTLY on saving webpages).

TooManyTabs - Saves Your Memory

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

TooManyTabs "saves memory". NOPE. It's a lie.
Go ahead, check it out. Open a few hundred tabs, send them to "TooManyTabs". Select "Close Other Tabs". Close down FIREFOX. Now reopen FIREFOX. Check your memory usage with PROCESS EXPLORER, guess what... ALL OF THOSE TABS STORED IN TOOMANYTABS ARE STILL EATING MEMORY. I can show you this also by simply refusing to load my last Firefox session with a few hundred TooManyTabs listed.

Block Sneaky Redirects

Cannot tell if it works, but it does do something very well Rated 1 out of 5 stars

So far I don't see Javascript redirects being stopped on porn websites or for certain advertisers. However, this add-on does one very specific task very well. IT STOPS YOU FROM SAVING WEBPAGES. Oh, your webpage will download at a size of ZERO KB. Every webpage you try to download will have the chosen filename and a size of 0.
I would strongly recommend you not download this add-on unless you want to sneakily block some other person using your PC from saving webpages.

Mozilla Archive Format, with MHT and Faithful Save

MHT needs to work with Adblock Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Most of the problems are from using ADBLOCK with the "Not Saving Popups" (which tell me little and require me to click for almost no reason -- Here is a hint FIREFOX makers, ONE POPUP + scroll list of errors, not 20 or 30 popups one after another -- make it a LIST with a single close button).

If the only option is to repeatedly click "CLOSE" then there is no option, only lousy programming resulting in a bad interface.

FIREFOX & MHT don't respect ADBLOCK when saving a webpage. They try to save the complete webpage (which is often filled with unwanted ads or other time-wasting junk) and not the ADBLOCK-FILTERED webpage. When I save a webpage I *WANT* the ADBLOCK-FILTERED webpage saved. Simple as that.

Mozilla Archive Format would catch on faster if FIREFOX stopped the tard-popup error gang-bang and presented only one popup with a scroll list and if Mozilla Archive Format saved the ADBLOCK-FILTERED webpage we wouldn't have any "MISSING ITEM" errors while saving a webpage *AT ALL*.

Youtube MP3 Podcaster

DEFECTIVE STARTUP Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Great program, works as promised. However, the current version 2.7.0 has a problem.
VERY ANNOYING. Will be disabling until this defect is corrected.

Load Tabs Progressively

BUGGY - MEMORY HOG Rated 1 out of 5 stars

My initial rating for this add-on was 5 stars as it appeared to be the perfect companion to the BAR-TAB add-on (you'll hate yourself for not installing BAR-TAB). The problem, this add-on HAS A BIG STINKING MEMORY LEAK WHICH CONTINUES TO GOBBLE MEMORY CONSTANTLY (I figure that this extension loads the tabs at first load, then reloads them, and NEVER STOPS RELOADING). How do I know this, I am an "extreme Firefox user" using only 26 tabs at the moment and while "LOAD TABS PROGRESSIVELY" was active I was losing 20 MB of memory per second (averaging at 580 MB at the moment with 780 MB in virtual memory). Without "LOAD TABS PROGRESSIVELY" in play I am having memory cleared at a rate of 5 MB per second (which is still horrible given that only 3 tabs are non-greyed using BAR-TAB). With BAR-TAB and 589 tabs open (not kidding you, I tend to get distracted and bored quicky on interesting websites) I would have a session of about 30 minutes before the memory-choke-lag would force me to restart Firefox. Uninstalling "LOAD TABS PROGRESSIVELY" has helped considerably.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works great. All of my tabs open without a fuss. Loads only the tabs I am currently viewing so Firefox loads super-quick without choking on startup. Only complaint would be needing toggle options to allow media in an non-viewed tab to continue playing without unloading tab after the tab unloading timeout clocks out. Beyond that, I very much like this program. Makes FIREFOX work smoothly and speedy.

Restart again

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Tried it. Doesn't work as claimed. Clicked "Restart Firefox" and it did restart (as usual by closing all active windows/tabs and then reloading them when Firefox reloaded). Using Firefox 3.6.13.
No "Restart Again" button/menu-item/statusbar icon to indicate if there was any difference between the old "Restart Firefox" menu command and the new "Restart Again" command. This extension *might* actually work, but simply fails to replace the older "Restart Firefox" command.

Extension claim is to restart Firefox without closing tabs/windows and since it does not do this, I would say that this extension is non-functional so don't even bother downloading.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Works great for posting in default HTML forum codes (if enabled outside of FARK) up to version 3.0.7
Version 3.0.7 is non-functional and broken (clicking the OPTIONS for the extension in the ADD-ONs window results in the ADD-ONs window locking up). I am rolling it back immediately to a previous version and locking out updates until version 3.0.7 is removed.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I like the theme for the bars and the buttons, but the webpage Glowy background image should be removed.

Great extension, but not compatible with Firefox 3.5 (with the internalization of the FLASH VIDEO VIEWING engine). If your browser crashes after updating to Firefox 3.5, you'll need to remove this extension until it is made compatible again.

RDown - Rapidshare Downloader

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Not bad. Downsides, v0.5.8 does not allow choice of download directory and also does not allow auto file rename after download.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.8).

Video DownloadHelper

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Has been a great FLV file downloader, but after the last update YOUTUBE video now saves as zero-length files.

Used MR TECH to enable this in FIREFOX 3.03 and it does not allow me to save images at all. I like the concept though and would like to see this idea followed through into a workable Firefox extension.
