My Reviews

BlockSite

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Junk. It only works occasionally. Sometimes I can type a blocked URL verbatim into the URL bar and Firefox gleefully goes there. I wanted to use this to elide tracking sites that tend to be embedded in every web site on earth, but I can't be confident it will block them.

Video DownloadHelper

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

On OSX, the download arrow doesn't show up, thereby making the add-on useless. It took a while to find the addon's main button, but pressing it only shows a list of sites, and nothing else. I'm not sure if it's actually doing anything at all. Note: I followed the instructions given at http://www.downloadhelper.net, but I couldn't get past step 2.

NoScript Security Suite

It's the reason I use Firefox Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Might as well add my voice to the chorus. Best add-on ever. It's the main reason Firefox is my default browser. Pages load faster, I know which sites are script-crazy, and it's all non-intrusive and easy to customize.

However, I hope the dev relocates commonly used functions to the top of the menu. Scrolling through all the junk to turn scripts on and off is annoying, especially on Mac, where the menu goes bonkers on long lists.

Another improvement would be allowing us to bless specific page elements directly; currently I must go through a process of elimination with the menu to get content to display.

But it does what it does, and it's excellent at what it does. It should be a core part of Firefox, IMO.
