My Reviews

Cutyfox URL Shortener (bit.ly, is.gd, goo.gl)

Broken in 46.0.1 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I don't know why, but Firefox 46.0.1 broke this addon. It's a great addon when it works, though.

Fractal flame

Impossible to distinguish active tab Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It's a beautiful theme, and I'd use it except for one major problem: I cannot see which tab is active while using this theme.

The Old Reader Notifier

Never clears unread count Rated 2 out of 5 stars

At one time this addon worked perfectly, but now it will never clear the unread count on its own. I have to read all items, then click the icon a second time to get it to re-check the read count.

Cookie Monster

Well maintained Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Every time the Firefox developers does something to break addons, including this one (which is dismayingly often lately), the maintainer of this addon has fixed it promptly.

I've tried other addons that are similar, and none have the full feature set I need.

Apollo Bookmark/Tab/History Sync add-on

Does not work -- developer unreachable Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I am leaving a similar comment about this addon and (paid) iOS app everywhere I can in hopes that SOMEONE who can do something about it will finally get in contact with me.

This app is broken, and has been for literally years, yet it is still sold for money in the iOS app store, which is inexcusable.

Smile Redirect

Breaks Amazon Instant Rated 4 out of 5 stars

For some reason Amazon Instant streaming through the browser won't work with this addon enabled. Perhaps it needs to have an exception list coded in? Otherwise it works as intended.

Privacy Badger

Breaks browsing, even when disabled Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I gave this a try and after a week or so I decided to disable it out of frustration...and yet it was still screwing up my ability to do things like comment on YouTube.

In fact, the only way I could restore commenting on YouTube (among other issues) is by re-enabling it and fiddling with it until the problem went away.

When this thing is disabled it should NOT still be messing up my browser!

Tools for Amazon's Mechanical Turk

Abandoned? Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Used to work beautifully, until the latest versions of Firefox. Unfortunately there has been no update or indication from the developer that there will be an update.

Blur

Good, but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I like this addon, and usually have no trouble with it, but I just wish I could turn off the "medals" feature.

MediaPlus

Unmaintained? Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I have not been able to get this addon to work for Firefox 16 or later.

EDIT: The issue I'm having is that when I click on the icon, it just pops up a window that says "Loading" forever. AMO tells me this addon isn't even available for 16, even though I am able to enable it. I attempted to install the Chrome version but for some reason it never got past the "Checking..." phase, and the Bookmarklet link on the author's site doesn't show up for me in any browser, which is why I made the admittedly poor assumption that the project wasn't maintained.

FBSecure

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Hasn't worked for me, at all.

Bitacora

Not compatible with Status-4-Evar Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I can only assume this works for others, but it doesn't work for me since I run Status-4-Evar...very disappointing.

Google Reader Watcher

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Works fairly okay, except the latest two versions fail to display an icon at all for me.

IE Tab

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Only three stars because it doesn't work on Firefox 3.6.3, even when using Mr. Tech's Toolkit to "make it compatible".

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.20090525).

Aardvark

Broken for Firefox 2.0.0.* Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Very good extension, but like other people have mentioned, the latest version(s) are completely broken on Firefox 2.0.0.*, and has been for a while. Why hasn't there been a fix?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.96).
