It sucks it has problems with many versions of FF. How to install it on FF 4? I don't want newer versions of browsers, they look like shit. Spellbound worked with FF 3.5.4 so why doesn't it work with FF 4? How to get version for FF 4?

Seems unnecessary now... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

After using this for a while, I've had to edit my review and lower my rating from 4 to 3 stars.

Why? I was disappointed to find it didn't work in Yahoo Mail, where I planned to use it most.

Also, it's annoying that its window is anchored to FF's upper left corner rather than being movable. I mean, this isn't 1993.

And as I mentioned before, when you install SpellBound a dialog box appears asking if you want to change your Home page to one where SB's developer apparently has a financial tie-in. That's not spyware, you have a choice—but it is tacky, something you don't expect FF add-ons to do.

But the real deal-breaker for me was that I realized FF's built-in spell-checker DOES let you save words. Duh! How'd I miss that? That's really the only reason I was looking for a third-party checker.

I'm sure this developer meant well, but this add-on seems unnecessary now.

@Jundle - when are you planning on updating this? Or is it free domain again?

If Spellbound isn't going to be compatible with FF 4 then I'm sticking with FF 3.6. That's how good this add-on is.

Spellbound still working for me Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I thought I might as well pass my thoughts on.
When the jundle thing started,I looked around for a different spell checker and couldn't really get on with a different one.So I came back to it.I found by changing the install.rdf file I could get it to work in all firefoxs including firefox 4.I changed the old one not the one that has the malware in.
Hopefully it will keep on working as the fox upgrades.I'll be sorry to see it go.I've been using it for years now.
One star off because of the malware thing.

Who - me? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This program has been a God-Send.

I use Auctiva and got tired of using their superiorly inferior spell checker. I spent a full half of my life waiting for it to load - and I couldn't add words that I use all the time. It promotes its product for eBay sellers and it doesn't even recognize the word eBay for God's Sake! That said - I love Auctiva and will continue to use them - but SpellBound has made me curse less during the day when trying to check my spelling in the description box.

Since Auctiva didn't seem to think spell checking is a priority I went looking for another option.

This one is not perfect but it gets the job done quickly and allows me to add words that I use often.

I tried to download Mozilla 4.0 Beta and couldn't use SpellBound with it - and none of the other offerings did what I needed and so I un-installed 4.0 and returned to the older version of Mozilla - all so I could re-install SpellBound.

The only problem I encounter is that once SpellBound is in check mode I can't scroll up and down on the text that I am checking. Sometimes a word comes up that I have no idea what I was trying to type because I've mis-hit my keys so badly that the word doesn't make any sense. I am not allowed to scroll the text on either the original copy - or in the SpellBound check box to try to remember what I was trying to write - and so I have to just get to the end of the copy and close the box so I can go back and read my original copy.

I don't have to wait for SpellBound to load. I click the ABC Icon and I get immediate service. Quick and Smooth.

Aside from that I have no complaints. I just wish you could get together with Auctiva so that they could have a Real Spell checker.

I have been using SpellBound for months and have never had a problem with mal-ware, or with home pages being changed - or even a hint that anything like that was happening behind the curtain.

Just as REL_Dude said. First thing this add-on did was to try to take over my homepage!

Mozilla must look into this ASAP!

MALWARE!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Popups and ads!
The first thing it did upon install was try to hijack my home page and search engine!
Mozilla should really take this down...

Can't see why the rating is so low. It works fine for me. Simple and effective. And no malware. Thankyou.
