Sort by? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hi, im looking for such an addon, but it seems, that this one just provides sort by name. the only "feature" i at least could find was the sort (by name) context entry. doesnt fit very well for me :) but maybe i missed something, because users below said, that they use the url-sorting.. so if i find it, there could be 5 stars ;)[edit] I dont want to advertise here too much, but there is actually a plugin, that can sort by url:https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/uniqtabs/but afaik you can only use the sort feature with a hotkey (default: ctrl+shift+d)so, 5 stars to me now, eh? :D

(or to the guy who made the plugin :P)

It works sweet. :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

After the negative review from m0d0nne11 I was in doubt that it would work on my configuration with tens of addons installed and 582 open tabs yet.. it worked!
I m on a 4 years old cheap laptop, windows 7 32bit, firefox and flash are the latest versions. I had 2 firefox windows open on 2 screens (501+81 tabs), about 15-20 loaded tabs on both windows (heavy HD wallpaper sites) and 1 tab playing a flash video movie. I had a firefox freeze for about 15 seconds and yet it didnt crash as I was expecting with flash playing, after the 15 secs I had 501 tabs sorted (thankfully only the window I wanted) and I didnt lose any tabs (except if tabcounter lost the count which I doubt).

m0d0nne11 If it worked for me it should work for you.
I would find more probable with 100 loaded tabs to have firefox crashing during the sorting than tabs closing. My best guess is that maybe you have some duplicate tab killer addon which is conflicting with "sort tabs" and kills tabs randomly.

Sort function simply discards many of my tabs Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I had approx 100 tabs open and after invoking the sort function none of the tabs with an URL beginning with m-z remained - all gone! An hour's work, accumulating a collection of tabs, gone. The bug is easily reproducible, unfortunately... (yes, I wasted a second hour and part of a third before realizing that this plugin was to blame!)

Does not sort Tab Tree Structures Rated 3 out of 5 stars

If it was possible to sort specific tab trees (Vertical Tab Tree Add On) it would do it.As it is now, not always worth the effort of destroying tab tree structures.Cheers up !!

Thanks, this add-on works fine, including with not loaded tabs :)

Does what it says it does. Been wanting something along these lines for a long time. Would be much improved if it tied into the API selection of "Multiple Tab Handler". MTH is great for documentation of tabs as text, html, wiki or other text formats and "Sort Tabs" will help when alphabetical order of included tabs is desired.

It sorts tabs! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I was looking for something to alphabetically sort my tabs and that's exactly what this add-on does. Just right-click on any tab and select "Sort Tabs". (And you don't have to restart Firefox after installation.)

does not work, but there are alternative Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This addon does not work for me. It did`n sorts not loaded tabs and as others have said no sort options.
Here is an alternative - sort_tabs-2.100910.18-fx+sm-win.xpi http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/addons/5372/ .
I do not know why this addon and page it developer disappeared from the site, but the addon kept on the server.

I'm reviewing this based on the promise that additional sorting criteria would be added; that promise was made over four months ago, but to this day the only sorting criteria is tab title. I suppose if that's all you want then Sort Tabs will meet your needs, but for my usage this extension is of extremely limited value. *If* it ever gets the additional criteria, I will update the score accordingly.

Good, but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

... I can only get 2 of the options to show up on the context menu: 'Sort tabs by URL' and 'Sort tabs by title'. The rest, including 'Close duplicates' will not show up in the menu no matter what I try.

I'm using Firefox 7 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, should any of that matter.

It is 4 stars because it really needs alternate sorting criteria.

That being said, I've decided that restartless is the way to go and I'm looking to move to 100% restartless ASAP as best as I can.

I'd love to see stylish, keyconfig, and scriptish (another of your add-ons - you are like so my hero) incorporated into FF. Chrome really leap-frogged FF when it made Scriptish/GreaseMonkey scripts first-class browser extensions.

So, I'm adding 1 star to useful restartless add-ons (in this instance, useless is defined as an extension that I find useful).

Thanks,
Neil

This is ALMOST exactly what I want and I think it fills a need. I'm just anxious to have the ability to sort by URL. Until that comes, I won't be using this. I find that to be the most important functionality for the way I interact with tabs. I would be very grateful if the developer could update this soon with the additional sorting criteria promised. Until then, this works wonderfully but doesn't do a lot.

Needs a little work Rated 3 out of 5 stars

What's the sorting criterion? It can't be 'by url' because my google search tabs (with different search terms) are all over the place - even after 'sorting'. It seems it's done by "text in tab tite", which is a miss. Otherwise great idea - finally someone has mercy on us multiple-tabbers ;] Using FFx 4.01

Search is by Tab label

The search is by tab title atm, I will be adding more criteria though.
